Incredibly knowledgeable, and friendly staff. I got my first tank almost 7 years ago now, and I still call/visit this place every time I have any questions, or new ideas for a new tank. The people that work here will happily take their time and talk with you about what you are planning to do. It is a fish store. Obviously, they want to see fish and fish type products. With that said; Ive never once been pushed to buy anything I didnt need. Ive even been talked out of buying a couple fish/fish products, simply because I did not have the proper environment for them. I still shop at Petco every now and then, but I would never recommend a Petco/Petsmart/Petsupplyplus/etc over this place. Nobody knows fish like these guys, and nobody puts as much time and care in to the craft like these guys do. Even if you are not planning on buying something, visit this place at least once. They have some of the most beautiful tanks, awesome fish (some Id never heard of), and employees that are genuinely passionate about owning fish. I really wish I knew the proper wording to praise this place as highly as I feel they have earned. Stop by and see these guys. Do it now.

So we just had our tank drilled, our brand new 150 gallon aquarium. I do all of my business with fish room but I will never again step foot in this establishment. We live about 45 minutes away from them and they have always been good to us but after a week and a half after our set deadline to pick up our finished tank we finally got the call. Today we picked it up got it home and when we went to move it we noticed that they gouged the front trim on our tank and chipped multiple corners. After we took the piping out to clean up the tank we noticed that the cuts on the fittings are not straight and jagged and we also have previously used fittings on the tank. When we called they denied having done this and said they want us to bring the tank all the way back to them so they can see if they can repair the tank. I am sorely dissapointed at all of this and honestly I will never be back nor will the rest of m family. They have handledthis in a truly unnappropriate and unprofessional manner. Its pathetic, they need to get their act together when taking in their customers property and money!!!!

Located right across Capital Blvd. from Triangle Town Center, The Fish Room is an excellent saltwater aquarium store. I have bought from The Fish Room twice now (a 4-inch Raccoon butterfly for only $30-something and an orange diamond goby!) and have had a great experience there each time. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and their premises are clean and beautifully maintained. While small, they have three good rows of tanks; therefore they actually have as many fish as most other aquarium stores do, and often a better variety. They carry everything from damsels, cardinals, and Royal Grammas to Desjardini sailfin tangs, dwarf and large angelfish, and butterflyfish. Their coral selection is good as well, and they do carry inverts. Their display tanks are beautiful, and check out their website for their Livestock List. They do not appear to keep new aquariums in stock (at least not in the show area), but you can certainly order from them. They also have a good selection of live rock and are one of the few locations to carry dry rock. Again, highly recommended.

Okay, this place is really nice, tanks are gorgeous, great selection....but, thanks to one employee that worked there my whole saltwater tank is pretty much dead. Following the advice of this employee, who said that a half black angelfish was safe for a reef tank, we bought one, along with an anenome. A half black angel is not reef safe apparently, and incessantly pecked at all my soft corals, including the $40 anenome. The Fish Room agreed to take it back for store credit, which was great, except it was nearly impossible to catch this angel. It took me two days, and after rearranging my ENTIRE tank to catch this thing, the anenome, already stressed from being pecked at, died due to the stress of me messing in the tank. Anenome died, but not before releasing it's toxins into the water and killing the rest of my fish, except one clownfish. So through a horrible series of events, I essentially blame that one employee for destroying my tank. I certainly learned my lesson and will research the fish thoroughly for myself before trusting someone like that.

I recently had Eric install a 200 gallon tank in the wall between my family room and dining room. This was a complex project as it was going in a load bearing wall, I wanted the filtration drilled through the floor to the basement and needed a custom cabinet to match the dining room trim. The biggest challenge was convincing my wife to allow this project to happen. After meeting with Eric, he completely sold my wife and came to our house to size, design and measure for the project. I cannot tell you how easy this project was for me. Eric coordinated the carpenter to put in a header, cabinet company to come in and design the cabinets and then his team to install, fill, aquascape the tank. Last night my wife told me that the tank looks great and exceeded her expectations. If you are looking for an aquarium, look no further than Eric and the fishroom. He is top shelf and cares more about the look, design and quality than you do!!.

We purchased out first saltwater tank about three years ago. In addition to the original purchase, The Fish Room has been our go-to source for equipment, fish, coral, water and advice. Every time we go they spend the time with us to help pick out marine life, provide advice or simply test the water (a great service they provide gratis). Most recently I stopped in to discuss building a new lid for my Solana. The owner took time to sort through some spare parts to locate a piece that I needed so I wouldnt have to special order it and put me in touch with a source for another part I needed, but simply hadnt been able to locate. I highly recommend going to The Fish Room for your saltwater aquarium needs. (I dont have a freshwater tank, but they have freshwater fish and supplies as well and I can only imagine the same dedication would apply)

I recently purchased some fish and supplies from this store. Equipment and all, just fine, but the fish... I have apparently fallen into the bad habit of trusting my "well rated" fish stores. I have now lost over 150$ worth of fish to some of the most vicious columnaris, protozoan parasites and ich that I have ever seen because of four little salt and pepper catfish purchased here. I will never be going back to this store. If you want fish you are much better off getting them from a trusted seller and lover of fish rather than this store. I am devastated, losing fish that I loved to pieces, that I have had for 4-6+ years in the same tank setup. What a terrible introduction to the fish keeping community here in NC. I will continue to get my fish from elsewhere.

There really is nowhere else to go. Try the Fish Room, you wont regret it. I have dabbled with the hobby throughout the years and have had many great/not so great experiences. The Fish Room represents the best the reef-keeping industry has to offer...literally. This shop is great. Everything in the store is clean, crisp, and well maintained. Each member of the staff is consistently knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I purchased a complete set-up (Solana 34g) and had the Fish Rooms service tech (Matt) install the equipment. The installation was flawless and I found the quality of service to be outstanding. Matt is clearly experienced and a good guy, very trustworthy. Additionally, the in-store service is great. You can truly expect solid advice and real quality service.
