My girlfriend and I planned on visiting the Greensboro Science Center on two separate weekends. First weekend we were going to the Bodies Revealed exhibit and then the next weekend we were going to the zoo and aquarium. First I checked the ticket prices on the website for the Bodies Revealed exhibit and saw that it was $12.50 for an adult ticket so then I called and confirmed that yes the tickets are indeed $12.50 for an adult ticket. We were pretty excited to go and so I drove the 2 hours to get there and arrived close to 3:00PM even though they close at 5:00PM I thought well 2 hours should be more than enough time to view the bodies exhibit. I go to where you pay for the tickets and I asked "2 adult tickets for the Body Revealed exhibit please" the guy behind the counter said "ok that will be $50.00" I thought he made a simple mistake and I said "oh we are just going to the Body Revealed exhibit today" and he replies "yes and you can go to the zoo and aquarium" I then replied "we would only like to go to the Body Exhibit today so just tickets for that exhibit please". He told me I would have to pay to go to the zoo and aquarium also. I immediately thought of what law enforcement call a "bait and switch" I felt as if I was being conned. I tried to explain that the website stated the ticket prices and such but the cashier didnt want to hear it. He just exclaimed if you want to go in you have to pay the $50.00. I just drove 2 hours to get here and I am being asked to pay twice as much as I originally was told two ticket prices were. My girlfriend was getting upset about the situation and I just said fine charge the card. We had less than an hour to run through the zoo because they closed the zoo at 4:00PM. We just ran through the whole thing before it all closed. I dont want to say I am a sucker but I sure felt like one. I would have walked away if I hadnt drove the 2 hours to get to the place. I felt completely ripped off. I wont be going back and I will tell others of my experience so they dont fall for this criminal "bait and switch" tactic.

Pros: A lot to see and do for the entire family. Most exhibits educational and hands-on which the museum encourages. There are also areas for small children to play. Fresh Market Cafe serves up mostly nutritional snacks and meals, though it is small and seating can be a problem. The museum is mostly eco-friendly as they use recycled materials for some of their exhibits and props. There are signs throughout the park reminding people how they can be better stewards of the planet. Cons: The Shipwreck exhibit isnt worth the extra $6 as it has little on pirates and little on treasure. Some of the information about the mid-19th century wrecks is interesting. Its mostly a giant exhibit about the company Odyssey Marine Exploration. I asked one of the staff about its operations and it seems to be a commercial enterprise that finds shipwrecks to salvage and is also involved in undersea mineral exploration. Museum exhibits seem to be a major source of their revenue. The photo op as you exit the main exhibit is misleading as the photographer says the picture they take of you is free but when you go to the desk to pick it up, they charge for the prints which are basically a big money maker for the museum. Nothing about it is free except the actual picture taking. There are also gimmicks like the tornado and hurricane chambers where you can experience high winds for $2.00 a pop and lasts probably a minute if that long. The aquarium was a little disappointing since there wasnt a very large diversity of fish. The aquarium in Raleigh is probably a better bet though I havent visited it yet.

This is an outstanding way to spend your visit to Greensboro. I was very impressed with skywild. My visit was solo but I wish I would have brought my kids. Be sure to take advantage of the fact that you get free admission into the Science Center with purchase of a skywild pass. That is a big deal. I would advise that you get your skywild pass, visit the museum and the exhibits then hit up the course. As a guy who has climbed at more than a few ropes/outdoors courses this one it top notch. First, the guides are great they will talk you through the course if you get stuck trying to figure out how to get through an obstacle and second, it is evident that they have high expectations of their guides. My guide was a man by the name of Dustin. It was clear right off that he was first serious about my safety and next he was serious about my having fun. He was professional and kind. Dustin helped talk me through some strategies to get past some of the obstacles, and it was like he was cheering me on to get through some of the more advanced courses. He for sure made the course more enjoyable for me. While Dustin was my guide I was impressed with all of the guides there. I cannot express how impressed I was with the quality of the employees who worked there. One final piece of advice, be sure to drink water before you go on the course. It gets hot in N.C. in the summer and many folks dont take into consideration how important it is to hydrate before getting up on a ropes course in the afternoon on a hot day. Bring your kids and create some real memories at Skywild.

When I was a little kid this place was nothing much to look at. However, in the past few years they have really expanded and taken a good look at what their patrons want to see. It is a bit more of a zoo than a science center, however, there do seem to be quite a few places that are under construction right now so perhaps they are working on the science center part. The new aquarium is top notch with a shark tank and sting ray petting center! If you want to see the tiger I would go in the afternoon, it seems to sleep most of the morning. The inside staff seem very nice and helpful, however, the older staff at the ticket booth are a bit abrupt , but dont let that put you off the rest is a great day out! Bring sunscreen because a good portion of the interesting stuff to see is outside and going early is better!

Went here with our 1 year old and it was about 4 hours to go through it once (didnt see a show). It was a nice value we thought. It is like three smaller, separate activities at one place (aquatic life, mini zoo, and museum/dinosaurs). An older kid probably would have a good time. It lost a star for two reasons. One, I thought there was going to be more science at the science center instead of viewing exhibits. Some more interactive things like physics/astronomy/biology lessons or games would help. Second, the human body exhibit was indeed interesting but needed some cleaning and general upkeep, as it seemed well used. BUT definitely go there. Great value and if we are in Greensboro again we will go back. We couldnt do the new Sky Walk with our son but totally would have, because that looked really fun.
