I bought a groupon to go to this place for 10 people plus food. It was a pretty good deal. The catch: you could only go Monday-Friday. After watching the forecast closely and postponing our trip to ensure we went on a fairly clear day (since the website atated no rainchecks, rude) we swapped for a Saturday and lost our food package without any additional discount. They said we could bring 12 people since we werent getting food, but when we got there, charged us $20 more. They even charged for my 2 year old who should have been free but I didnt feel like arguing with the lady. We drove 2 hours to get to this park and the forecast was clear to partly cloudy with a 15% chance of rain. We were in the water for 5 minutes and got out for a break, then got in for 10 minutes and it rained so we got out. After the downpour it cleared up to a sunny sky and they still did not allow us to get back in. No thunder or lightening and we waited at least 45 minutes-1hour and they didnt let us in . Then there was some thunder in the distance after all that time and still sunny and we waited another hour or so. Instead of updating people and giving upfront answers about whether they would re-open, they ignored and avoided us and started cleaning up around us like they were closinf. After waiting for close to 3 hours and closing time approaching we went to the window with our things and asked for an upfront answer about if they were closing. She stated "we are still open" in a sarcastic tone and I said yeah but we cant get in so you might as well be closed. There hadnt been any thunder in over 30 minutes and she showed me a "radar" with scattered rain miles away. I told her we drove 2 hours to get there and only had 15 minutes in the water and she told us there was nothing she could do about that. I asked if there was a manager, she said, "her name is Marjorie Turner and she will tell you the same thing." I stated that was poor service and didnt appreciate them not even trying and she said sarcastically, "well Im sorry we tried to keep you safe. We cant control the weather." Then she closed the window in my face My children were so disappointed! I understand water safety, but not communicating with customers about decisions and refusing to offer rainchecks or refunds for people who travel from out of town to come to the park and not even get to use it, not to mention the tone in which I was spoken to, is just poor customer service. We wasted an entire Saturday and werent even offerered the option to come back tomorrow or another day. I wasted my time, my money and memories as my summer vacation came to a close. I would not recommend this park to anyone. A water park that refuses rainchecks is a rip-off. I feel robbed and helpless because there is basically nothing I can do about it at this point except to try to warn people. It isnunfortunate this happened to us because it otherwise looked like it may have been fun (besides the algae and dead bugs in the water).

This place used to be fun, we have gone every year for the last 3 years. This year they have imposed strict rules and regulations that make it no longer fun or worth the drive. No goggles, no hats, no sunglasses allowed, for mothers of fair haired and light eyed kids, or kids that hate water in their eyes??? this is a nightmare and is almost a deal breaker right away. Then, You have to wait on the main dock until the person in front of you has climbed the ladder to whatever youre trying to get to. Then you can jump in the water and climb the ladder. For my family of 4, it took us 5 minutes just to get our entire family on the platform, and thats if no one else was in line! If there is a line, expect a very long wait while each and every person waits on the pier while one person jumps in the water, swims to the ladder and climbs. You can no long tag team on the swings or ride together, one at a time, and they limit the amount of people on the platforms. When sliding, you have to wait until the person on the slide in front of you is not just off the slide but out of the entire slide area completely. Want an umbrella at the picnic tables in the bright sun with no shade?? Well, be prepared to rent it. And if you hear a rumble of thunder in otherwise blue skies?? Be prepared to exit the water and wait on the sand until a 10 mile radius shows up clear on the radar, or doesnt, and they close early while your kids are crying in disappointment, and dont expect a rain check or discount, You wont get it. We were frequent flyers here, now, Im not so sure we will ever be back. My favorite thing about this place used to be that it was good old fashioned fun where they left you alone to play and be crazy. Now, my kids wearing goggles are too dangerous and not allowed for their own protection and I cant climb up the ladder behind my 7 year old son because he might fall on me and hurt me. Its way over policed, over priced, and the list of rules is so long you can never keep up.

I have been going to Fantasy Lake ever since I was a little girl. Matter-of-fact I remember when the kids slides were built! First off, Fantasy Lake is a LAKE, not a pool, so youre not gonna see crystal clear waters. Everything except the slides themselves are wooden (this isnt Emerald Point), the sand is man-made (kinda rough on the feet), and the lifeguards are mostly teenagers enjoying their cool summer job. With that said, for the price you get an awesome day of fun, a pretend beach to lay on, and trained lifeguards making sure your bad kids arent running up ramps or pushing others off slides. BTW, WATCH your kids people! Theres a good snack bar, decent-sized bathrooms, a small "beach shop," picnic areas, paddle boats, slides, swings, platforms, piers, etc. Ive read other reviews saying theres a smell to the water, and on hot days, yes, there is, but once again, its a LAKE, not a pool filled with chemicals. However, the lake is filtered and treated to some extent and I have never felt dirty in the water. IMO, if youll swim in the ocean youll have no problem with the lake. If youre strictly a pool-goer stay away. I took my two and five year old this past 4th of July, along with my husband and mom and we all had a great time. They check bags and coolers now to make sure youre not bringing anything in youre not supposed to, and the girl who did that was just as sweet as she could be. The girl at the window was nice, and lifeguards were at their posts doing their job. I say watch your kids because it is not the lifeguards job to do so. I seen a few parents in la-la land while their kids ran around like crazy, and there are toddlers out there who dont enjoy a push and a face full of water. I have no complaints with my visit and its nice that with everything changing so much, Fantasy Lake is the same great place I remember.
