When we arrived we drove around for 30 minutes before finding an employee who told us to check in across the street. It would have been nice to have this information before arrival. After getting checked in we drove back over to the "resort" and began bringing all of our belongings by hand up to the 8th floor. That doesnt sound like a lot? We had to make 4 trips because there was no luggage cart to use and the trek was about a quarter mile one way. The outdoor carpet in the open air hall is very dirty and worn, some of the lights were either blown out or missing completely. . When we got into the room we noticed that the furniture was worn and unkept. Behind the bed in the wall and in the couch was trash , food and dirt. The entire room needed some serious maint. updates and work. We had to place a towel on each side of the extremely hard bed to wipe our feet of sand before getting in. The remote was missing buttons so you couldnt turn the channel up or down. The fridge was once white but poorly painted black. The carpet on the patio had the same in door out door carpet as the halls and was covered with bird poop and cigarette ashes. The bathroom was completely filthy and in disrepair. The "Spa Tub" had mold around the jets. The rooms are advertised as newly updated this is NOT TRUE! The pictures on the website are NOT what you actually get. The last two nights of our trip were terrible we had to deal with a large group of "Kids" having a all night Spring Break kegger. Our last night we were awoken by the fire alarm and being told to evacuate only to find out it was one of the drunk kegger group kids playing around pulling alarms. These kids were running up and down the halls naked, drunk, and being very loud. Where was the SECURITY STAFF!?! We planned to spend our time at the Crown Reef since it was advertised as a Water Park and Resort the Water park had only three slides and two pools operational this is not a Water Park. We ended up leaving the resort after only spending half of our first day trying to enjoy the "Resort". Also, the total lack of service to our room because we had a friendly trained certified service dog is illegal. These are only a few reasons you should steer clear of this dump. Update: I received the below reply from Jason H, the Front Office Manager after voicing my complaints. I tried to call him as requested but was met with a voice message stating that they were experiencing high call volume to their PAST STAY/Complaints line and to leave a message. I left a message and still have not received a return call from Jason. By the way I did let the FD know about my experience and it was met with disregard and honestly it felt like frustration on their part that I was even saying anything at all. Stayed March 2017 Jason H, Front Office Manager at Crown Reef Beach Resort and Waterpark, responded to this review Mrs. Rebecca O, I am so sorry to hear of the condition of your room and that you and your family did not enjoy your time in Myrtle Beach. Please contact me at the resort so that we can discuss how to make your next visit to the area a memorable one. I wish you had reached out to me prior to your leaving so that we could have addressed these concerns while you were with us. Respectfully, Jason H Front Office Manager

Very old, dated and dirty! The only updates we had was carpet and kitchen counter top. The floors were nasty and we wore shoes most of the time because of it. Would have to wipe our feet and they would be black! The bathrooms were I would say 1990s insert tubs and the sink never drained well. It was a very small space you could hardly even shut the door to the shower an toilet area. Most of the railing throughout the resort including your balcony was chipped paint and many places had writing on it. The carpet throughout the resort (balcony, stairs and hallways) is very old and looked as if it had never been vacuumed. The pool was so dirty! They do clean it each day but there are so many people using the pool and no one ever checked wristbands so I believe people from the beach were coming up and using it. The water was so foggy and and would get worse as the day went on, by 3pm we wouldnt swim in it anymore. Tower ones pool doesnt get used as much so it is not as bad. At one point I got the pool net and cleaned out the pool and retrieved a lot of dirt and a hair extension from the bottom of the pool. The pool edging and tile and concrete around the pool had grout missing and black mold and dirt in many areas, it all needs to be resurfaced. There were no dishwashers and there was very little utensils, pots and pans to cook with and tiny counter space. The coffee pot was so old and rusted we would not use it at all. The hotel is very loud, door slamming and people running in the hallways until about 11:30-12:00. The doors are very hard to shut you have to push them very hard to get the lock to turn and they have a very old dated security lock with two holes in the door where there used to be a different lock and there is no bars to secure the glass balcony door and it is just a little twist lock so if you have young children you may be uncomfortable with them sleeping on one of the beds on the ocean side. The fold out couch was old and dirty we wouldnt use it at all the Murphy-bed was some better but nasty behind the bed and the heading and box it sat in. The fire alarm went off 2 different times but luckily not at night. There were 3 elevators and Friday and Saturday only 2 were working and a family was stuck in one of those on Saturday. It was for a short time and the husband was able to pull the doors open and get out! They were so hot I am guessing no ventilation at all. We would have left if we didnt have another family with us and we had so much money invested but needless to say we wont go back. The photos are misleading and must have been photo-shopped because they look way better than the photos I took! On a positive note... they have a lot of entertainment outside and the staff is very friendly and the food at the restaurant was very good. The game-room was small but nice and updated. It was very close to the ocean so short walk if you have small kids and there is a pier close by that you could walk to. If you dont mind older dirty hotels then you will enjoy the hotel just too dirty for me

Well lets see where to begin. After finally being able to take a whole weeks vacation with my family and being able to take my Mama who has not been to the beach since 2011 it was a horrible place to stay. First of all they built this place up on the internet and through a brochure I received through the mail of how great they had renovated the place and the first and only hotel in Myrtle Beach that has a waterpark on site. Well, guess what, the waterpark was not completed. It was suppose to open on 6-14-2014. We arrived a little early that day, was able to use the pools but wasnt able to get into our room until five hours later. In the meantime, a thunderstorm came and we were told we could not sit at the pool area and must go to our room. Well, guess what, our room was not ready yet! I asked the pool attendant where she would like for us to go. After we finally got to our room, they put us in Tower 3 right over the construction site. The room was a little small, outdated and not carpet on the balcony. They did move us to another room but still next to the construction site, but wasnt quite as bad. Found a bug on the balcony as well as one crawling on the wall one morning and another one in the bathroom on the morning we left. The shower curtain also fell and would not stay up! If you have anyone that has any disabilities or problems walking there is not easy access to the beach unless you walk about a quarter of a mile to the other end of the hotel. To get to the beach from the pools you have to walk up one flight of stairs and then back down another. NO view of the beach from the pool area unless you are standing up on the bridge that accesses the beach. The place is not close to any of the attractions, therefor you have to drive to where you want to go. If issues arrive in your room if takes anywhere form 45 minutes to an hour to get what you need. I called once and went to the desk once and told them I needed if fixed asap. The lady the desk told me that maintenance was having trouble getting up on the elevator cause they just had a bus load to come in and the elevator was busy. Strange thing it did not take me that long to up and down on it. How iroinic!! Over 90% of the people that stayed there were snobby and would turn their nose up at you if you tried to speak to them. There was a few that would speak and hold a conversation. I am from the south and we show southern hospitality. To top it all off, some idiot threw a glass beer bottle of the balcony and almost hit my son in the head. If you are going to drink then you need to speak responsible especially when there are children around. Not a place I will take my children nor my mother again. I will never, ever stay at this hotel again. Take heed to the warning, do not stay here, dont waste your money. Way overpriced and they charge a 10 dollar resort fee everyday, for what I dont know!!! Dont stay here!!!
