I typically never bother to write review but this time around my experience was so appauling, I just HAD TO. We arrived at 40/40 Club with another couple (a party of 4) on Friday, March 23, at about 6:45 PM. We were seated promptly by a pleasant smiley hostess. The waitress arrived shortly thereafter. We wer planning to redeem one of the Groupon-type vouchers. The waitress seemed puzzled that we had a voucher, although I alerted at the time of the reservation we would be redeeming one. She then reluctantly took it, but she would not point out whether specific things where included or excluded in the voucher when I inquired. We ordered a round of drinks, which she got two of wrong. One person in our party who doesnt drink alcohol ordered a club soda and she brought over a tiny glass filled with ice cubes with maybe 2 ounces of liquid. Refill requests took 40 minutes each to arrive (for the soda). Other beverages were of acceptable quality, nothing special, overpriced if I had paid full price. We proceeded to order appetizers. One of our appetizers never arrived, one more was the wrong one and the server was arguing with us for a while saying that this was what we had ordered (we ordered fish tacos while we got fish fingers for some reason); after a long ordeal they finally replaced it and brought what we had ordered. The rest of the appetizers tasted pretty decent. After the appetizer ordering fiasco and 40-minute waits for soda refills we decided we didnt want a second round of drinks and requested a check. We waited 45 minutes. 45 MINUTES. I am not kidding. AND WE STILL DIDNT GET IT. Over the course of the wait time, the waitress disappeared, so I had been hunting down the hostess who told me that they are "trying to figure out how to process the voucher". Upon my third inquiry with the hostess, I demanded to see the manager who was not in sight. When the manager didnt show up within 15 minutes, I told the hostess we were leaving and that we had left $20 on the table that should have taken of the 2 extra club sodas and tax on top the things we had ordered that were supposedly covered by the voucher (4 appetizers, 4 drinks). The tip was out of the question at that point, obviously, given the level of service. As we had stepped out in the street, all of a sudden our waitress reappeared out of nowhere (after I repeatedly scoured the place for 45 minutes looking for her in vain), accomplanied by the manager (who was nowhere to be found when I requested to speak to him in the first place). They handed us an $84 dollar check with charges for 2 appetizers, 1 drink, and upcharge for 2 martinis and a service charge. Their claim was that things we had ordered werent included in the voucher, even though I specifically requested when ordering whether those things would be covered and the waitress said that "everything is covered". I refused to pay the bill based on them trying to defraud me and told them to call the police if they wanted to make me to. They quickly took the bill back and the manager said he would "take care" of it, he doesnt understand how that could have happened, that we were served by his best waitress (???!!!) and that he doesnt want us leaving with a bad experience. Too late. My experience was RUINED. I have been going out in the city for 12 years, never once did I have to deal with such a nightmare and disrespect. Obviously, I am never going there again, advising everyone I know against going back, and spreading the word online for folks to stay away from this place. I am just very disappointed that a Friday night out I was looking forward to all week went so wrong.

Worst experience ever!!! We had many problems arranging reservations with them not responding in a timely manner, never remembering who we were when we called to follow-up. It took 3 attempts from 3 different people in our group to finally get a reservation completed & paid in full. Thirty days later we arrive to the club to receive more inconvenience & disappointment. The General manager, Sherwin Robinson, chose to not honor our reservation because the original bank card used for the transaction was stolen, & was replaced by the bank. He stated they need the card that the payment was made with as final confirmation for the reservation (if thats the case why process a complete charge instead of a deposit with a hold on the remaining balance). We asked to speak with someone higher than him or the owner since he couldnt (technically refuse) make the executive call to honor our prepaid, non-balance remaining, reservation based on the situation that happened with the previous card. Sherwin stated there is only the owner, Jay-Z, above him but he refused to contact him. After lengthy discussions with him, us asking him why would we make a prepaid reservation, flying over 1,000 miles to a new state for our birthdays & anniversaries to receive problems & inconvenience, he offered two options: for us to make a new reservation payment with the new card (which is still connected to the same bank account of the original transaction he chose to not honor, & were now paying twice) & hell refund the first payment, or he can give us a refund and we can leave. We chose the latter but Sherwin then flipped the script stating he couldnt process the refund. He stated that the refund is processed thru the business/corporate office which is only open Monday - Friday (but earlier he said no one is above him outside the owner. If thats true then you have the access & right to process the refund). We asked him to call Melissa whom handled our entire reservation & he refused. We had him write up a refund statement & sign it. Sherwin placed the wrong first name on letter & did not enter the refund amount. He corrected the name but came up with a new excuse to why he wouldnt enter the refund amount. The new excuse Sherwin gave is we wouldnt receive a full refund because they charge a 3.5% plus $3.00 processing fee. So now the club still wants to keep portion of our money after General Manager Sherwin Robinson is the primary person making the decisions & choosing not to honor our reservation because of an unexpected life incident that caused the bank to replace the card. The hired staff made this place completely unethical, non customer service savvy, and took money away from the assigned waitress (lost gratuity on bottle service & additional cash tip-outs from 12 people in the group). I dont recommend this place for anyone wanting a party reservation. As of 8/11/16: Melissa refuses to send me an email stating the refund is being processed. She said the letter we received from Sherwin is sufficient enough. She was asked if she would simply provide an email saying that the process has begun and the time frame for money to be returned but she wont. She was reminded that this was money provided for a group (not individual reservation); therefore if she didnt provide an email, the members of the group will contact her.

Design is beautiful, however, the staff is unprofessional and there is little value in the party packages that can be purchased on their website. A group of friends and I came to 40/40 to celebrate a birthday. We purchased a VIP package and also ate at the restaurant prior to being "seated" in "VIP". Servers were nice but highly unprofessional and untrained. One of the ladies brought my friend a piece of lime for her drink with her bare fingers... at the dinner table. After ordering our food, we were told that the shrimp pasta would have an extra $10 charge. We inquired about the additional charge and was told that it covers the cost of the shrimp. However, the menu had no information about the charge. After we asked for the manager, another server came to our table and asked what our questions was. Although she was not the manager that we asked for, we entertained her and asked her for a reasoning. Her answer was no different from the previous server. We asked to speak to a manager again. After this request our original server came out to inform us that her manager said it was ok and that we did not have to pay the $10 extra. Food came and was lacking seasoning. Before our plates were cleared, we were told by our servers that we had to get up because there was another reservation. We were shocked that they would ask guests to get up but we complied and asked to be placed in our VIP. Our server stated that if we were supposed to be placed in VIP, she wouldve sat us there and that it is much nicer. She stated that it was not her fault that we were not placed in VIP for dinner because we did not tell her. We assured her that it was okay ( but also confused about the type of apology given). We sat for about 30 minutes and waited to be prompted to move to our section. The server came and stated that her manager said that where we were sitting, was VIP. We were in total shock because there is a CLEAR VIP section in 40/40 and this was not it. The section that we ate in for dinner was located just to the right of the door and there were people that casually entered to be seated. If this was VIP, what did we pay for? I couldve walked in off the street and been seated for $500 less. The manager finally came to the table and attempted to recover the night but it was a total bust. We asked for a refund before we received our "VIP" items and was told "no" because he had already blew up balloons and ordered a cake (these were some items that we prepaid for) from the corner store. All of which probably cost $40. I felt like we got scammed. All we could think about is how this is not what we thought we paid for and the servers and unprofessionalism aggravated us even more.
