DISPICABLE SERVICE from KEVIN Where do I begin?! Let me just start by saying that my girlfriends and I have NEVER been treated as poorly as were by Kevin at Tao Downtown Saturday August 12. The only reason I gave this a 1 star is because we were seated despite being late for our reservation. We were in town in NY for my bachelorette party weekend and were all so excited to dine at your establishment. The excitement quickly turned sour as we were seated and watched Kevin (who we later found out would be our server) walk past our table over 15 times serving everyone else except us. At some point, some 20 mins later he lack lustrely moseys over and takes our order. During the course of the next hour we had to practically wave our hands to get his attention all while we observed him laughing and giggling with the other 2 tables (one beside us and one in front of us) while he waited on them hand and foot. Turned off as yet? Well theres more. To add insult to injury, after our entrée, (with ample time left on the reservation) Kevin made sure to have our table cleared and then flung our check on the table. No dessert menu, no coffee offer, no more wine, water NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. At that point I told him that it would have been nice had he offered us dessert before hastily bringing the check to which he replied" OH, OKAY" and walked off. TAO, I have never in my entire life been treated as poorly as I was on Saturday night, August 12, 2017. You RUINED what was to be such a fantastic experience for me and my friends. The sad part is that your waiter was so busy being rude that he hasnt yet realized what he has done. Since we are business women we tipped him regardless. Because to stoop to the level of ignorance would be to be ignorant. Im appalled that you have hired such an incompetent waiters at such a prestigious establishment. It just goes to show: not all that glitters is gold.

THIEVES HIDING IN THE CROWD. No stars. LADIES KEEP YOUR PURSES VERY CLOSE IF YOU DONT WANT IT STOLEN AT TAO. The worst nightmare ever. What they dont advertise is that the place is way to noisy, crowded and that You should be careful because mixed in a crowd not controlled by enough cameras or security there are professional thieves and You can get your purse stolen. It happened to one of my friends Saturday evening. Yes inside the restaurant while seated and waiting for our food to arrive. We had just ordered. Women have purses that not necessarily fit as a cross body or in your lap. My friend purse was across the shoulder of her chair and was stolen. We had just sat down and ordered our food. My friend turned around to put her phone back in her purse ... see had taken a picture of us sitting across from her. When she reach for her purse it was gone! Even though we reacted immediately calling the manager ... there was nothing to do. The cameras did not reveal anything suspicious, with the manager claiming that the area we were seated in, was a busy one. We obviously did not eat, had to call the police and our night out ended at 02:00 am when we were finally able to go back to the hotel. Did I mention that in the purse unfortunately there were besides the money and credit cards, my friends documents she was visiting from Europe. We didnt have the chance to eat and we had to get into a not very pleasant conversation first with the waiter and then with the manager. We were asked to pay the bill for the full dinner. We didnt even see them bring to food to the table. We ended up paying a portion of bill to settle. Not happy, not happy at all. SO LADIES KEEP YOUR PURSES VERY CLOSE IF YOU DONT WANT IT STOLEN AT TAO.

I have frequented Tao Downtown for the past year with my friends. Last night after letting me in the establishment security asked my friend (whom has also been going to Tao for the past year) to wait. After approximately ten minutes I went to ask my friend if he was ok, and comfortable waiting. Before going in I asked one of the employees whom I had know for a year, what the issue was regarding my friend. Soon during my inquiry three security guards aggressively grabbed me and forced me outside of the entrance. I am a 20 year old 120 pound girl, that was in no way aggressive towards the staff. I had three men put their hands on me, grab my arms and push me outside of the entrance, despite my compliance in the situation. I had none of my belongings because they were inside at the table me and friends of mine had service at, and none of the staff were willing to let me grab them so that I could go home. Personal possessions of mine had been taken within the time it took for a friend of mine to retrieve my bag. This is not the first time that I have experienced Taos staff forcibly removing a non aggressive girl from the establishment, and leaving them in the streets without their belongings. I have never in my entire life had anyone put their hands on me, and how dare this poorly managed, sexist, and racist business have the audacity too. I have filed police reports against this business for their excessive use of force, and I hope that all of the other girls Ive seen in this situation do the same.

Never in life have I been so degraded! Last night I gathered a group of my girl friends to this venue as a favor for a friend of a friend who just started promoting Tao night club. We were promised free entry, free drinks and free coat check and for 6 single young girls in college that sounded like a deal. Instead we got insulted, left out in the freezing cold and screamed at. I was in contact with the promoter the entire night prior to our arrival and when we got there not only were we waiting in line for over 30 minutes in the cold, the bouncer was so rude and arrogant screaming in my face specifically to "GET BACK" in order to have a conversation with him. When I initially just wanted to tell him who I was there for. To add injury to insult the promoter whom I had never met before, came outside seen our group and went back inside to text my phone to say "youre with a big girl we cant let you in Im sorry!" Mind you not one of the beautiful ladies I was with was over a size 8. So if thats considered "big" to this pathetic club they should probably wake up and realize health is more important than being a size 2!!!!!!!! As a person in the fashion industry attending fashion shows with actual models and important people who actually matter, I have never been treated with such disrespect!! Mark my words I would never do so much as to be on the same side of Tao night club/restaurant again!!!

Girlfriend took me for my birthday last night and I was mostly blown away. We did the NYC restaurant week menu + a couple of items off the regular menu. Drinks: I had the 5 spice Manhatten. Really good flavor. Not sure it was worth $19, but it was damn good. Appetizers: Crispy rice with tuna: probably my favorite dish of the night. Nice crunch and the tuna had just the right amount of spice. Definitely some of the freshest tuna Ive had. Veggie egg rolls: perfectly crispy and really tasty Tempura eggplant: another home run Main courses: Sushi: again really fresh fish, really tasty Thai chicken: bright flavors, perfectly cooked. Awesome dish BBQ duck fried rice: awesome dish with a decent amount of duck and fresh veggies. Really good flavors Desert: Molten chocolate cake: decadent - cake was moist, chocolate inside flowed out after the first bite mixing with the vanilla ice cream that was on top of some kind of chocolate cookie crumble/dust. Really liked this Fruit sorbet: not my favorite, but my girlfriend said it was fine, but wishes she got a different desert instead. This was the only disappointing part of the meal Service was good. Our waitress was perfectly attentive. Overall, a really amazing birthday dinner. The prices are the only thing that might keep me from going back except for very special occasions
