Food and Drinks: The food quality appears to be a mixed bag. While some patrons find the food to be on par with an average restaurant, others have reported issues such as burnt chicken tenders and undercooked pizza.
Waitstaff: The service from the waitstaff is inconsistent. Some reviews mention excellent service, while others complain about the lack of attentiveness and mistakes in orders.
Speed of Service: There are complaints about delays in receiving food and drinks, sometimes taking up to 30 minutes before the end of the movie.
Seating: The seating arrangement is described as cramped and uncomfortable. The chairs are not adjustable, making it difficult for children to see over the tables.
Space: The theater is relatively small with only six screens, which limits the variety of movies that can be shown.
Tickets: The ticket prices are considered to be among the best in the area. Evening tickets are often cheaper than matinee tickets at other theaters.
Food: The food prices are reasonable. A single person can generally get a ticket, a full meal, and a drink for around $25.
Movie Selection: The theater generally plays the six most popular movies, limiting the options for those interested in smaller films.
Dining Experience: The theater offers a full meal service with a variety of options, from chicken tenders to pizzas.
Proximity: The theater is in walking distance for local residents, making it a convenient option for those living nearby.
Parking: The reviews did not specifically mention parking, which could indicate that it's not a major concern for patrons.
Special Offers: The theater offers military discounts and $5.50 matinee prices.
Family-Friendly: The theater is described as a great place for families. Children as young as 2 years old get in free.
Innovative Service Button: The theater has a service button that you can press to call for service without missing any part of the movie.
Odor Issues: Some patrons have complained about a peculiar smell in the lobby and the theater, which affected their overall experience.
Sound and Visuals: One of the theaters has a speaker that fizzles during loud scenes, which could be distracting.
Cinema Cafe - Kemps River Premier offers a unique experience of dining while watching a movie. However, the quality of service and food can be inconsistent. The theater is a convenient and affordable option for local residents but has room for improvement in various aspects.

Ive been going here for years. Its relatively small in terms of movie theaters. It only has six screens, so generally it only plays the six most popular movies out. So you cant see a lot of smaller movies here, but for the ones you can see its great. Ticket prices are possibly the best in the area. Evening tickets here are often cheaper than matinee tickets at other theaters. And then theres the food. Its on par with the average restaurant, both in terms of quality and variety. Other theaters typically offer candy at four dollars a box, nachos and popcorn for a few more dollars. If they do offer a few meal items at the concession counter, itll be something like a cheeseburger and fries for upwards of eight dollars, a hotdog for about seven dollars, maybe a few chicken options. Only slightly cheaper than a restaurant, but much less variety and usually not as good. At Cinema Cafe, a single person can generally get a ticket, full meal, drink, and tip the waiter for 25 dollars. Its a good value. My one issue with Cinema Cafe is the seating. Its pretty limited. There are really only a few good counter seats available. The table seats are comfortable enough, but can get a bit cramped. And since theyre on the same level as the counter seats in front of them, you may end up with somebodys haircut obstructing your view. But I usually see movies after theyve been out for a few days, so getting a good seat is pretty doable. All in all, a good place to watch a movie and eat a meal without having to smuggle one in.

My family and I came to this particular Cinema Cafe on New Years Day 2017 to see Sing. We purchased our tickets online so that went smoothly but I was very uncomfortable standing in the lobby waiting to enter the theater. Theres a peculiar smell like the carpet has not been clean in a very long time. Once we entered the theater to take out seats I continued to smell this peculiar smell...Im one of these people who cant enjoy food if Im smelling something weird. The seats in the theater are desk chair style seats however they cant be adjusted up or down like a desk chairs can so my ten-year-old son was having problems seeing over the tall bar style table and a booster seat just wasnt working for him...theyre way too small for a 10 year old. My chair was very squeaky and had to get another. My son ordered a little rascals meal Alfalfa chicken tenders. They forgot his dipping sauce and lemonade we had to ask for it 3 times...he finally got his dipping sauce when the movie was about 30 minutes to being over. The concept of having a meal while you see a movie is a great idea in fact that used to do it all the time when I lived in Richmond at the CineBistro but this was not a good experience because little things were forgotten and its annoying to ask for things that is supposed to come with your meal over and over and have to wait until 30 minutes before the movie is over to get them.

I am very sad to say that I am only giving one star. I use to go to the Cinema Café as a kid and loved it! But this time, going on Valentines Day, I was very disappointed. The seating is very crowded, the waiters/waitresses can hardly even move around without having people move out of the way. I use to love their food, but today it was the most disappointing. I ordered chicken tenders with a side of BBQ sauce. The tenders came covered in the BBQ sauce, I didnt expect that at all. Then when it came to tasting it, it tasted as if it were old and possibly sitting out. I hope they are not just reheating old food. My husband ordered some onion rings and they came out very hard. The chips and sauce were good though. I believe I paid way too much for some, sorry to say, disgusting food. ): I really hope to see improvements because I use to enjoy the cinema café and it brings a lot of good memories.

Went for my birthday, saw a pretty funny movie. But was not pleased with the service. We ordered 2 drinks and 2 burgers. My burger (the mushroom swiss) wasnt that good. The other one was ok. I ordered a frozen margarita, but got one on the rocks. The server that took our order didnt come back. The server that brought the order pretty much threw the food down, almost spilling it all over us, and walked away, no questions. No "is there anything else I can get for you?" Nothing.. For the first time Id ever been to cinema cafe, I was not happy at all with the whole visit. Being a server myself, I wanted to scream at everyone. I dont know if I will be back at all. Apparently its not always that way, my fiance says... Hes lived in the area for years, and this place is in walking distance, so hes been there several times. Hopefully they fix their issues.

It was the last night of our family trip to Virginia and decided to try Cinema Cafe in Kemps River. It was a great experience for the entire family. Every seat in the theatre is a great seat. The service was excellent and the food and drinks were delicious. Very reasonable pricing. We loved that you could press a button for service and not miss any of the movie. On our drive back home to NY my husband realized he forgot his Oakley shades in the theatre. I called and spoke to a manager named Joe. Joe quickly found the shades in the lost and found and even offered to mail them to me using priority mail. Joe followed up by texting me a copy of the receipt and tracking number. Joe went out of his way to help us. This is an example of the kind and hard working individuals that work at Cinema Cafe. Thanks again Joe!!!!

Experienced the worst service that I have ever received at a restaurant. I ordered two chicken tender baskets that came completely burnt, so I asked kindly to the server if they could be re-made. At this time the kitchen was closed it was the last movie playing of the night, the server admitted that they "scraped the bottom of the barrel" were her exact words. So I asked to speak to a manager about having a gift card in place so I could come back and eat another time because mind you we did not eat them, so why wouldnt they!? Beats me they tell me they cant so anything about it and I ended up paying for it . So dissapointend this was the first time I had ever had to complain about horrible service and still nothing was done. Will not be returning & I advise you not to waste money at this location.

This is a great family theater, but it gets very tight when busy. There are extra chairs that dont have table tops, hose are always in the way of the servers and movie goers. Theyre remodeling now so its a bit messy. One speaker in theater 3 or 4 (cant remember which) is bad and fizzles occasionally during loud scenes. The food is good but last time our pizza was underdone and doughy underneath. That didnt stop my husband from eating almost the entire thing though. Lol! Overall its a great place to bring the family, 2 year olds get in free and my 2 year old son does great in this style theater since he can eat and/or play with his toys on the table. They offer military discount and $5.50 matinee prices which is much appreciated!
