I went to a very poorly managed concert there not too long ago. By the time they began actually letting people into the venue, it was minutes before the show was to begin. Half the crowd hadnt even gotten through the doors at the start of the show, and it wasnt until just before intermission that I noticed the flood of people entering the concert had tapered off. I was fortunate to be towards the front of the line, but if I were one of the many people who spent 80.00 on tickets to this show and missed half of it, I would have been livid. Food is overpriced. Area is nasty- barely anything nearby. I was told that I wouldnt need to drive the few blocks from my hotel, but the walk to the arena was creepy even in daylight, as there is nothing left in this part of Buffalo except for abandoned shopfronts- its eerie. The walk back to the hotel that night was SCARY, and that is an understatement, although it was literally only a few blocks. There were no taxis and the trolleys were quite full, except the last car, which was almost completely empty, but its doors would not open from the outside. Inside were a small group of college boys, some of whom were pelvic thrusting the door and otherwise signaling with sexually suggestive gestures that... well, they werent going to let anybody in. I still chuckle when I think about those morons. Anyway, if you are going to see a show at First Niagara Center that is not a Sabres game, I suggest you check other venues first before buying your tickets, especially if you plan on spending the night nearby.

Worst concert experience EVER!!! Ventured into Buffalo to see a concert at this hole, and have since vowed never to return. Driving through the area near the arena, we wondered if the concert was even still going ahead as scheduled. The entire neighbourhood looks like a war zone. Most of the nearby buildings appear to be vacant, and look as though theyve been that way for quite some time, not as a result of a lagging economy. After parking, we decided to try something to eat, and ventured to the Pearl Street Grill. When we asked the bouncer outside if there were any ATMs inside, he said "What does this look like, a bank?" Most bars in the civilized world have an ATM for patrons who may have run out of cash. They also dont accept Canadian currency at all, which was rather inconvenient. I find it odd that most bars and restaurants in Toronto will accept U.S. currency, but in Buffalo, where you are closer to the border, and would expect more visits from those across the border, your money is not welcome. Not wishing to venture any further, we opted for some "fast" food from the arena, which, of course, was ridiculously overpriced.

How about an actual step stool instead of a folding chair in the family bathroom? Wegmans has them, attaches under sink and folds down as needed. A lower sink a child can reach? I generally dont have many problems with the arena. My section is clean, seats are also. Facility staff responds quickly to spills. I think some attention needs to be paid to the customer experience, however. Its 20+ years and is starting to show some age, but an expensive refresh shouldnt be needed. Attention to little things like the family restroom. The mens room outside my section has had a sink that had cold water the entire season. Paper towels are usually out by the 3rd. Cant replace during intermission? Has the intermission chime gone away? Some other small things, like more knowledgeable staff. After Newbury had some products at the arena last year I asked customer relations hadnt there been healthy food options or gluten free options, where were they? The response was just to stay away from anything with bread. Thanks, got it doc.

First of all I have to address a few things; truenorthstrongnfree, your review was a rant that was as coherent as a rant my four year old goes on. Your reviewing the Arena, not the city of Buffalo. If you dont like the way the bar was run then write a review on the bar, or better yet just stay in Canada. I like how you stated that "In Toronto they accept US money" Guess what your not in Toronto. Im sick of you Canadians going to the mall and leaving all your boxes all over the parking lot so you dont have to pay duty when you cross the border. See I can go on a tangent as well. The same goes to the morons that are posting about banking issues on the arenas reviews. Other than that I can now digress and tell you that the First Niagara Center is just a great venue, granted the concessions are over priced and im sure that there are some things that have happened to people that make them give the arena a bad review, i understand that. But I have never had a problem.

The arena is very nice and easy to navigate, with plenty of concessions and bathrooms. The 300 section is pretty high up and its steep, so avoid it if you get vertigo. Its built for hockey, so there arent really any bad seats if you are watching the ice in the center of the arena. However, it kind of sucks if you are watching something on one side of the arena and you are seated high up on the opposite side. You are a really long ways away. I went here to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers and they had these cool moving LED lights suspended from a rig and at times during the show, they were directly between stage and the people seated at the far end of the arena so they blocked their view.

They are pushy and rude. Two bad experiences there. Will never attend at HSBC Arena again. Give someone a little power and .... He asked to see my ticket.I was standing in a dead end isle with many other people. I and my friend showed our tickets he kept hers. We both went back to our seats, which were not together. He went back to her and asked to see her ticket, which he still had. He then escorted her out to the lobby saying she had no ticket. When they got to the lobby he gave it back to her. I dont know what his goal was but it was very wrong and suspicious. Had I known this was happening I would have called the real security over to help..

If I could give a 0 I would. I am amazed by the event and extremely disappointed in the so called customer service in which I spoke with including the "Supervisor". The phone line accidentally became disconnected and I had to call back. That is when I had the displeasure of speaking to a supervisor that interrupted me, spoke over me and raised his voice to me. I can not believe that a company as big as this one would encourage such behavior from their employees. After this event I will be sure to make Erie PA my one stop shop for events and I encourage everyone to do the same!!!!!!

Just attended a February 12th NHL game Canadiens vs Sabres. Drove from northern Ontario almost 4 hours to see this game. We have never been to the Arena before and had no clue where our seats were. We were assisted numerous times by rink staff in a very professional and helpful manor. A gentlemen walked with us from the main concession stand areas at the entrance all the way to our seating area to ensure we found our seats okay. Thank you very much fantastic experience and worth the drive!
