I have lived in the inlet all my life and decided to try Dead Dog for the first time tonight. When told I could not have the entree I wanted, my boyfriend and I decided to share a meal. Halfway through I discovered a hair. I told the waitress and handed her the hair which she promptly wiped on her apron. She asked if I would like something else and I said no, I didnt see anything else I wanted, could I just speak to a manager? The manager came over with a rude attitude from the start. He told me this kind of thing happens all the time and he deals with liars every day. I was astonished that the owner of this restaurant would seriously come out and blatantly call me a liar in front of his entire restaurant. I said its your restaurant, do whatever you want. He came back with the bill and said "I dont normally do this but im just going to go ahead and comp this and ask you NOT to come back. Oh and if you dont have enough money to eat at my restaurant then dont come at all, B****." I have never been treated this way in my life, especially by a man who supposedly makes his living off of customer service. Even if I hadnt found the hair and had the incident with the owner, I still would not return to eat here. The food was cold by the time it came out and sub-par anyway. In situations like these you have to remember these people have much worse problems than you to have to treat people that way to feel better about themselves. Mind you, this was a 30 year old man chasing two customers out of a bar calling me a "b****" and saying hes going to call the cops on us when we were trying to leave and he was taking pictures of our license plate. Save yourself the bad service, bad food, and terrible experience.

Went there for the first time for dinner last night after seeing that they were active with their annual 9/11 memorial fund raiser last Sunday. so we wanted to pay them back a little. Due to the weather it wasnt as crowed as I would have expected on an early Friday evening. We got seated right away at a booth inside and the waitress came right over to take our drink order. They served my vodka & tonic in a plastic cup which I consider a kind of tacky way to serve drinks esp. at dinner. We ordered soups instead of appetizers and my bowl of NE clam chowder was good & so was my wifes cup of she crab. My wife ordered their "Endless Trinity" seafood plates of shrimp, scallops & a crab cake which she found excellent. I ordered the shrimp & kielbasa jambalaya meal which was a bit disappointing. It wasnt spicy at all and the kielbasa was nothing special. It came on a bed of rice & regular green & red peppers with a sprinkling of beans but the sauce it was in was very bland. A self respecting Cajun would have sent it back for its lack of spiciness. They do give you a decent amount of shrimps with it though & I also had a house salad for an extra $2 that was pretty good & the mac & cheese side was OK. Their, a bit high, menu prices show that they cater to the tourist trade as my wife got a big laugh in seeing that they charge $8.50 for a Nathans foot long hot dog on their deli menu. Unless they can provide a locals discount I dont think we will be back too often but we will return at some point. They seem to have a couple of nice bars, one inside that I believe is non-smoking, so it may be worth another try during a major TV sporting event.

Sorry to disagree with a lot of these very nice reviews but my experience was not so good. Friday night in late January needless it wasnt that busy. From the minute I walked in the door and was greeted by cigarette smoke I knew it was not going to be good. Although they make a reasonable attempt to separate the rooms it still permeated the entire place only getting worse as the evening wore on. The band was so loud you had to scream to be heard across the table. I ordered a fried seafood platter consisting of a crab cake, 6shrimp and 6scallops. The crab cake was very good but the 6 small shrimp and 6 small scallops tasted like leftovers from last week. They were greasy, tough and tasteless. I asked for some melted butter to dip my crab cake in and they gave me either fake butter or clarified butter which had absolutely no taste whatsoever. The baked potato looked and tasted like it was on the warmer for a couple of days. Extremely disappointed for a dinner costing $22.00. On a good note the service was excellent.

Breakfast buffet from 8-1. Since we are church goers, we didnt arrive till 12:10. Buffet is $14.95 including your non-alcoholic beverage. When we went to get our food, we had to open each lid to see what was there since there were no labels. This opening and closing didnt help to keep food warm. We found several serving bins empty. We chose from what was there, expecting they would replenish missing items. Food that we did get was just barely warm (probably due in part to said opening and closing). The bins were never replenished as expected and remained empty. If a buffet is going to be offered till 1oclock, then there should be hot food available till 1 oclock. If not, at least reduce the price after noon to compensate for lack thereof! We mentioned this to our waitress who never came back to indicate anyone had been informed of our displeasure. It would seem that no one gave a hoot. There are too many eating choices here. We will not be going back. Dead Dog, you are DEAD to us.

Dead Dog Saloon has a great atmosphere, and is even a great place to take your whole family for an amazing meal (even the kiddos). We dined here during the MarshWalk festival this weekend, and I was exceptionally pleased at how outstanding the service was, especially considering how busy they were when we arrived. Our servers name was Michael, and he was phenomenal. He made sure we all had drinks well before we finished the previous ones, which was no easy task considering almost everyone in our party of 10 were drinking beverages from the bar. The food is excellent, and the prices are remotely low considering the area and the type of food offered. All around a fantastic place to eat and enjoy good company! I highly recommend it to anyone whos ever in the Murrells Inlet area!

Went after lunch service...1 or so. Been wanting to go for years just never could find a parking spot or just too busy. Found the bar, nice service - sticky menus. Ordered an Oyster basket and a Chicken bites basket 11.99 each!! I had water my friend had a cocktail (looked good). They let me substitute onion rings for fries....all good! Food was about a 20 min ticket but it was far from impressive! I got about eight oysters in some kind of batter?? They were overcooked awful. The cocktail sauce was so thick and hard like it was old. Nothing impressive...Dennys on the marshwalk. Funny ... I ran into Charley in the parking lot...better look at the management inside. Its sad that the tourists look forward to eating here.
