Ever wonder where the song, Under the Boardwalk came from? I am here all the time, despite the cold snowy days or a heat wave. Its open all year round and always a nice place to take a stroll. The boardwalk runs about 3 miles long.and has recently been restored from the damage of Storm Sandy. Along its path is the aquarium, many small restaurants, a park with handball, basketball and swings, the new Cyclones park and an ice skating rink. Have a seat and take in the waves, now they have become technical with one charging station but no free WiFi. View the sensational lights from the rides of Luna and Deno Park. They even have a clean bathroom to use (open certain hours). During the winter you can watch the human polar bears swim on New Years day. During the summer join the crowds and sit to enjoy the fabulous Friday view of the the fireworks. I have attended a few events held on the boardwalk. The Deno dog show and the radio station DJ parties. There is always something happening on the boardwalk. You can check the ConeyIsland site for events, There are always plenty of bench seats to see the sea and take in the amazing horizon sunsets and sunrises. I cant wait for the beach to close and I can take my dog to run in the sand.

Coney Island, home of the historic wooden roller coaster The Cyclone, and the first ever Nathens hot dog restaurant, it is a wonderful place to take a family for a day trip there local baseball team and field is located on the boardwalk as well for cheap but entertaining baseball. You can enjoy the fair like atmosphere and beach front stores while enjoying a amusement park day, day at the beach, or baseball game with the family. In a place were metropolitan reality is a real hard thing to getaway from this place offers a different feel and enjoyable vibe that cant be beat. Fine dining was located relatively close to the boardwalk if your looking for a nice celebration spot after your day that isnt flip flops friendly. Coney Island, if your traveling take the time if your local New York, appreciate the nostalgia one can only get from past down traditions such as the Coney Island Boardwalk.

Best place in NYC to get away from NYC. Everybody is in a great mood and the atmosphere is a like a old-world fair, far from the pretentious snobbery one sees in Manhattan. There are rides for the adventurous and it hosts a unique collection of beach food vendors, most famous being Nathans and the nearby Russian eateries like Tatiana. The boardwalk is beautiful and such a happy place to be- kids, couples, families, old retired folks- everybody hangs out watching the water, the sun and the sand. Friday nights in the summers has fireworks. The summer Mermaid Parade is a lot of fun too- crowded but fun. They even do New Years Eve fireworks which sees the place crowded even on a cold winter night! If anyone says that this place is a mess or should be avoided, they are probably either racist or ignorant. Dont miss out New Yorks own beach where everyone comes to be happy.

I loved Coney Island Beach n Boardwalk. Its a clean beach and very happenings place to be. With NY aquarium, Luna Park and other shops for games n amusement with okay food, a day can be well spent. Just next to path it is easily approachable and convenient to be. While coming back we stopped by the path station with a subway and getting a footlong was quite handy after a long tiring fun filled day. It is just a great place for family and friends. Pay a visit its awesome after six or seven( I dont remember the time now) there will be no lifeguards so they the police / women in some uniforms alerted us not to go farther in water. And as I came back she gently explained why we were asked to come back.

Ive been going since I was young and for a long time I took Coney Island for granted. As I get older I appereciate the fact that it exist in New York City. Everyone living in NYC should venture to Coney Island at least once. I dont go for the beach life, Im not too found of the rides. I however enjoy the music concerts, festivals and events held there yearly. Did I forget to mention the amazing food? For anyone who is interested in knowing more about me, Im addicted to ice cream and a bit of an ice cream snob...okay, Im lying. I will eat any ice cream. Coney Island has one of the best homemade ice cream. It ran me $7 for a cone and I went back for seconds.

Its a great place for the summer or nearby for a beach atmosphere but during these hot months it gets quite crowded and attracts the unique eccentric clientele. The beach is large and wide and has ample space to find a little area to sit but youll definitely be surrounded by people in the hotter summer months. Come in the off season as in fall and youll have the beach to yourself for a quieter beach atmosphere. The boardwalk is filled with chain nick nack stores and not too appealing eateries. Its a bit pricey as well anchored by the Wahlburgers and Nathans. Skip the Wahlburger and go for the Nathans which is much better.

A great place to spend the day with family and friends. The beach is ideal for picnics or relaxation (bring an umbrella when its sunny), and the water is ideal for quick dips and light swimming. It is closely watched by multiple lifeguards. The boardwalk is usually crowded with a lot of activity from both visitors and organizations promoting brands, or selling products. Much like the boardwalk, the beach itself can get very crowded, and its hard to find a good spot to settle down for some time if you arrive during peak hours. Then again, this is one of the best beaches I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

My first trip to NYC. My first time to Coney Island. It was so much fun, I cant even begin to explain. The beach was crowded, but nice. There were tons of places to get food or drinks, though a bit expensive. My friend and I went on the Cyclone twice, it was great. I dont care how old it is, that thing is FUN! By the time we got off, my friend was in tears from laughing so hard. There are gift shops and, of course, the original Coney Island hot dog stand. It was simply a great time, something everyone should do at least once, even if you go to just walk around and dont spend money.

There is always something special about walking on the boardwalk with the ocean on one side and stores, restaurants & attractions on the other. You can start all the way down in Brightion and stroll up to Coney Island. Along the way you will pass many fine restaurants to stop and have a bite and people watch. You will also pass the NY Aquarium. Stop in and view the sharks and other sea life. Then you will enter Coney Island home of the Cyclone and Nathans. Go on a few ride and eat a few dogs. You can spend the day just walking and taking in the sites.

The beach and boardwalk are disgustingly littered. Its almost impossible to find a clean spot in the sand to lay down a towel. The seagulls are drawn to the half eaten food always left laying around and are even bold enough to steal the food right off your plate. Parts of the boardwalk are also uneven and have nails sticking out, making it easy for people (including myself) to trip. The area is very overpriced and not worth any penny of it. Save your money and your time. If you want to go to a beach, coney island is not the one.
