We have been enjoying Congress Hall for over 7 years. This will be our last stay. Last weekend, we were enjoying my wifes birthday by spending a few days relaxing at Congress Hall. Unfortunately, on our last night, they let 2 very drunk girls into our room! The girls claimed it was their room, so the desk clerk used his/her passkey to let them into our room at 1:23 am. It was all very confusing with them going about the room turning on all the lights claiming this room was theirs and what were we doing there. In their condition they had a difficult time attempting to exit after we reasoned with them to leave. Needless to say we were extremely upset. My wife had to led them out of the room ( I have a disablility) while I called the desk asking for an explaination on what just happened. Our sleep was ruined that night thinking what could have happened. The next morning we were eating a very nice breakfast. When the waitress asked about our stay we told her about our experience. She notified the manager on Duty who came over and apologized telling us our breakfast was on them. We purchased the breakfast plan so it was mostly covered. . My wifes glasses were missing from our room in the morning but thankfully were "turned in" later that morning and mailed to us.We have not heard from them since which disturbs us greatly. We felt the staff did not share our opinion of the gravity of the situation. We were put in a potentially very dangerous circumstance. Extremely upset over the whole matter. What started a a restful getaway ended up the complete opposite. Im very pleased to update my recent review, while we still have less then fond memories of our evening our greatest problem was being left with the thoughts that Congress Hall had no concern for the gravity of the situation. Im pleased to share that apparently was not the case. Today we were contacted by Management who conducted a complete evaluation of the matter and took full responsibility and are taking steps to make certain a problem like this will not happen again. We are very pleaded with their reaction. We plan now on a return visit in the future.

My kids and I are treated to Congress Hall every spring and fall by my mother and we usually adore everything about it..although everything is extremely expensive even before the season has really started! This time around we found the pool to be very crowded.. the kids all splashing and jumping- not very relaxing. I think the sharing of the pool by more than 2 hotels is too much when you are paying top dollar to stay here. I also think it would be nice if there was something complimentary in the lobby like tea and cookies or fruit infused water even! I also find the service to be somewhat lacking.. not a lot of personable attention from the staff- probably due mostly to the language barriers. There were also some weird issues with the door knobs being loose and screws missing?? We had a maintenance guy in our room 2ce.. once for the door knob and again for the broken refrigerator. We absoutely love the elegance of the place and the history but are concerned by the way things seem to be going

Beautifully restored historic hotel directly across from the beach. Customer service varied greatly with some excellent staff making our stay truly memorable to others who didnt seem the right fit for the hospitality field. WiFi worked well and parking was free. We loved the pool and the Brown Room (bar/lounge). Fantastic bartender. Delicious cocktails in an amazing setting. We did not try The Blue Pig (maybe next time). Breakfast is only an additional $15/pp but we went out instead. No in-room coffee maker, tea kettle or mini-fridge (we were told at check-out fridges can be requested). Very nice robes, toiletries, bed and bath linens. Big wonderful tubs. I stayed many times in the 80s and 90s when the property had gotten shabby. Now that its shabby chic and definitely more chic the rates have tripled in 18 years. CH is still as lovely, charming and interesting as ever. It was amazing to recall how it was before and compare to Congress Halls glorious restoration. A real American treasure.

Congress Hall (built in 1819, celebrating its 200th year - renovated in 2002) is well managed with very professional staff at all levels. Our room and the all the sitting areas (with fireplaces) were clean, spacious and comfortable with great views of the beach! Every detail from the time we pulled up to unload your car till our departure was taken care of by such friendly people. Our four friends staying at The Star Inn (which is also owned and operated by the Congress Inn) just across the street had a lovely 2 BR/2BR, kitchen, and sitting area cottage and the young man at the front desk (Shawn) was so helpful and accommadating to us all. We enjoyed a fantastic meal in the Blue Pig Tavern located on the first floor of Congress Hall. Prices were reasonable for our lodging and our meals! The beach was clean and beautiful with comfortable lounging chairs to rest and enjoy the sounds and views! We will be return!

Danced to the best band - the Smooth Edge Band - out of Philly! Never stopped to their funk!!! After an entire season in Cape May, working for room & board (and, of course, the beach), penniless pockets prevented my stepping out (ten bucks for a Chardonnay?!? I mean).... During my earlier stroll through the very very historical, extremely well appointed and tastefully decorated wayyy wayyy pricey Congress Hall, I entered The Boiler Room, and noted - joyously - that the guys setting up included not one white guy. Lock and load - home to change to better shoes. When the show ended, what followed was a chance meeting with an interesting individual on the outside steps to The Boiler Room. The ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ relate to that.

Love this place with a passion !!! If you are going to Cape May you have to stay here. Congress hall is amazing from the views to the food. I have been going to Cape may since i have bee real young and this place still hold its reputation, The place is spotless and has awesome service. The pool is great which you can view the ocean from . If you are looking to go out they have a bar upstairs which has great drinks and always live music playing. Downstairs you have another option which is the Boiler Room ,such a cool vibe there. The food is awesome too you have two restaurants to pick from both great. I recommend this to anyone who goes down to Cape may. Well worth the cost!!

This is a lovely setting, close to beach and walking distance to everything you might want to see. I was particularly pleased to see signs on the veranda indicating quiet time for late at night and early in the morning. But nevertheless, we had to call the front desk at 12:30 am to ask for quiet from wedding reception guests who continued to party loudly outside on the veranda. This was followed by a momentary bright light being shined onto our window and the television in the next room turned on full volume for 2 hours. You might want to see what the hotels policy is on wedding receptions and that the staff has a discreet way to handle unruly guests
