I have stayed there twice. The first time I was there the girl who checked me in was extremely rude and for absolutely no reason. She was not even snooty because it was the ritz she was just down right rude. Actually it was so obscene that I was speechless!! I went to my room in shock and called my friend and talked about it for about half an hour. I mean she is just the front desk girl but it took a half of an hour for me to get over it!! Maybe if I had just went down there to eloquently tell her off I would not of needed to call my friend. The second time I was there I left my toiletries in a bag in the bathroom. Expensive things; things that I would not like to leave behind. I called lost and found several times and they assured me that their maids never steal anything. If you leave a toothbrush they will return it. Right down to money. Well I have been calling and everyone is always promising that they will return my call either way. I am still waiting for this either way phone call. If the maid did not steal it but I know they did because if they did not it would be in lost and found and there would not be any problems, but just give me the courtsey of a call back. So disgusted with the ritz. I cannot even bring myself to capitalize the "R"!

First time I take the time to write a review on any hotel stay. Checked-in to hotel on Jan 1 and my initial experience was definitely not "Ritz Quality". Arrived at 3pm and was told our room was not ready and check in time was 4pm. This considering check out is at noon. Patiently waited for 4pm to find out the room was still not available. The manager then stepped in to "upgrade" us to a 1bdrm suite. The room was a bit small for the "suite category" and definitely under 600 sq ft, not the 815 sq ft advertised on website but it was a free upgrade so who was I to complain. We had room 2601 and I will say the elevator noise was absolutely the worst! I called several times and they assured me the elevators shut down at 10:00pm. Obviously Not true. We continued to hear the elevator and at some point just dealt with it. Exterior of building is beautiful and so is the lobby area, thats about it. This stay does not reflect our usual experience at other ritz properties we have had the pleasure of staying, including the Ritz Central Park in NY which we visited right after Philadelphia. Night and Day difference. The philly staff can learn a thing or two from NY Central Park staff.

Not what I expected for a 5-star hotel. The worst thing was the dangerously slippery tile on the shower floor. Seriously - 4" highly polished marble tile is NOT a good idea for a shower floor. The shower in my room was designed such that I had to stand inside while turning on the water. The valve wasnt the kind where you could easily set the temperature, and when icy-cold water started spraying out of the showerhead, I involuntarily jumped backwards and almost fell. The hotel didnt provide any grab bars or anything to hold onto in the event of slipping in the shower. I had to be very careful each time I took a shower for fear of serious injury. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Otherwise, the newly-renovated room was nice enough, but there wasnt a comfy chair to sit in. The desk chair was just OK, and the beds were too high to sit on casually. The lighting left a lot to be desired - there was a very dark area in the logical place to set up my suitcase on the wobbly suitcase stand. The toilet paper was atrocious - it seemed to be the cheapest type the hotel could find. It disintegrated upon contact with human skin.

The Spa was garbage. My masseur was only very handsome, thats where it ended. He literally rubbed my neck raw, didnt massage any of my back and just pressed my feet a few times with a hot towel. (P.S. I paid for a full body massage.) *I have been spa testing places with a friend of mine for the past month and this, by far, was the worst. 1.) They start by making you wait in the lobby area THEN another wait in the relaxation room to cut your time drastically. No other spa in the Philadelphia area has done that of the other 4 Ive tested. 2.) Plus, for such poor quality, theyre the most expensive in that area (less the 20% gratuity added). 3.) Theyre also a little snotty at the front desk. My friend got a body wrap and the guy would not be quiet lol. It was his own hour show. My "hour" raw neck massage probably just surpassed the 32 minute mark. Probably wont come back, definitely do not recommend this. **I would suggest the Rittenhouse Spa and Club. The Ritz-Carlton is a grasshopper compared to the Rittenhouse Spa and Clubs massage therapist and amenities .

I recently stayed at the Philadelphia Ritz Carlton with my two dogs, a King Charles Spaniel, and an American Pitbull Terrier. When I reserved my room at the hotel I scoured the internet in search of reviews from other people who had brought their dogs to the hotel, and I could not find any. Just because a hotel is "dog friendly" does not always mean that the staff and guests are dog lovers, but the staff went above and beyond in making my dogs and I feel welcome. The valet kept treats behind the desk, and the bell service had water bowls and cookies sent up to my room. Even the guests were extremely gracious, and it was difficult to get through the lobby without people stopping me to pet the dogs. If you are considering bringing your dogs to Philadelphia, the Ritz Carlton is a wonderful place to go. Other service was prompt and staff was friendly and well trained. All around positive experience, I would definitely return.

I took my boyfriend to Philly for his birthday and stayed at the Ritz. At check-in they were able to upgrade us to a city view room on a high floor with a fantastic view of city hall. They then offered to comp our breakfast as we had arrived very early in the morning and were super hungry. Then, even more amazing, we received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco that evening! Overall, the staff at the Ritz was the nicest, most welcoming bunch and made our mini-vacation as special as possible. I dont want to go home! Ill be recommending this hotel to everyone and any time Im in Philly Ill make a point to stay here. Thank you, Ritz-Carlton!

I checked into the hotel for our 1 year anniversary. What a disaster of a ritz, I wouldnt even consider it a Ritz. Rooms small decor way off and service is terrible. Resturant and bar staff are slow and overwhelmed hotel is understaffed. I tried ordering a move and was told to call the front desk to approve transaction Really!!!. Breakfast took 15 mins to get a drink and another 20 just to get the bill. I sent the drink back and asked for my check: food was delicious hats off to that. Ill probably never stay at this property again. I do not recommend it at all. Stay at a Holiday inn for 1/3 the price.
