I booked the Spa Suite for myself and the One Bedroom luxury for a friends birthday present. Pros: In the spa suite the bed was pretty comfortable, the room itself stayed dark and quiet even late into the day when I was sleeping in after being out late drinking and gambling. The spa was up to expectations, albeit a bit of an older design, my girlfriend and I enjoyed soaking in it at the end of the day. Cleanliness was 4/5 stars, only cosmetic shortcomings with cleanliness, like dirty shower grout. Cons: The front desk is constantly grossly understaffed. I stayed for five days, and at almost all hours of the day its a 30 minute wait if you need anything from the front desk or worse. They didnt answer the phone when I called from my room. One of my hotel keys didnt work on the first day. 30 minute wait to get a new one. I wasnt informed I needed my hotel key to leave the parking lot, that was another trip back and a 45 minute wait when I was trying to leave the strip and head home. I had paid for a friends hotel and waited 45 minutes to check in for their room when they arrived. The service at the hotel is inexcusably bad for the price being paid to stay here. The thermostat is something out of the 60s or 70s: low, medium, high fan. on/off switch. Unlabeled temperature bar going from coldest to hottest. Even on low fan with the warmest setting that was still air conditioning my room was frigid cold. If I moved it a quarter of an inch higher, the heat came on and the room was uncomfortably warm. I put a good digital thermostat in my house for $25. Dont be cheap, MGM resorts. No mini fridge, no microwave. The front desk said I could RENT a mini fridge for $25 a night. Over my five night stay I could buy a brand new one for that price! Outrageous. The gambling available in their lobby leaves much to be desired. Takes forever for the staff to come by with drinks and they are working their asses off to get drinks to people quick. Theyre obviously understaffed too. I was disappointed with the lack of variety. They have a plethora of every type of slot machine and not enough of everything else. Many of the shops/restaurants close disappointingly early considering this is the Las Vegas strip. Its supposed to be a happening place 24/7. Guess I was wrong? Theres also tons of people here with kids, pushing strollers around the casino and running around the casino with their kids. This is supposed to be a place for adult fun, not Disney Land. M life desk was understaffed too. Waited entirely too long there. I somehow only accumulated enough points to get a $9 meal comp despite spending $1500+ on rooms and more on gambling, and roulette doesnt count for some reason so I got no credit for that game. Blackjack does count. In the one bed luxury suite they also wont refill your waters and sodas that are supposed to be included with the room unless you order them from room service, which is insanely over priced. As soon as you arrive in Vegas, the myvegas and Konami slots apps remove a ton of the loyalty point offers from the rewards shop so you cant redeem them and spend your points youve earned. Overall, I initially enjoyed everything, but after all the problems I ran into, bad service especially, what would have been a 4 star review is now a 1 star review and I will never return to an MGM property again. It seems to be a running theme for all of their properties to be grossly understaffed, which hints at an underlying problem with the entire company.

At check in the woman at the registration desk was on the phone with a friend/coworker while helping me the entire time. I had a handful of questions that I couldnt ask because she was too busy giggling into the phone, head turned away from me on purpose so she could keep talking on the phone, and not even looking at me once. Here were some of the questions I had and were never asked or answered because she was too busy with her personal life to help me.. 1) I reserved the Spa Suite for 1 night, I wanted to upgrade to whatever suite was available above the one I already reserved and extend the stay for 2 more nights. That didnt happen because I didnt have a chance to speak. 2) Other hotels in Vegas happily allow me to order room service from the registration desk after a long drive and wanting to relax and eat. That never happened because I didnt have a chance to speak. 3) When you bring a lot of cash to Vegas they will hold it in their safe for you since the one in the rooms are always very small. Again that never happened because I didnt have a chance to speak. 4) I wanted to rent a cabana at the pool for each of the days my fiancé and I were there. Guess what, that didnt happen because I didnt have a chance to speak. Surprised yet? Maybe NY NY should train their staff to look at peoples luggage brands, or the watches theyre wearing rather than the tattoos on their skin. Its safe to say we checked out after the 1 night and are happily, comfortably, and graciously staying at the Wynn where all the things I mentioned above actually happened like they normally do, and where the receptionist at the registration desk treat me like the high valued client I am. The only reason Id ever step back inside those doors of NY NY would be to see Zumanity again. For all the middle class people reading this, save yourself some money and get better service across the street at the Luxor or even Excalibur.

NY NY is OK as hotels on the strip go, but, charging booked guests $18/day for valet parking or $10/day self park has got to go. The check in line was extremely long with only 3 people checking in folks. later they did put a few more on but it took almost 45 minutes to get checked in. It seems like prices on everything have risen to new heights. Starbucks now charges $3.65 for a small cup of coffee and dining at the restaurants prices have gone through the roof. $7 for a bottle of beer is outrageous and $25 for a pitcher is worse. The most reasonable place to eat is in the food court. The variety from pizza, fish and chips, sandwiches, crepes, hot dogs and some drinks are reasonable. Especially if you bring the family. Since Im a big chicken, I did not ride the roller coaster. I will say that the rooms are clean and well appointed but are starting to show some wear. There was no light in our bathroom and it took their maintenance department form 5pm till 11 pm to fix it. Although the beds were comfortable at first, I did notice that there were lumps in our king sized mattress. This did not fair too well with my back in the morning. The buffet was good as usual and service was excellent, food was hot and had good variety. Price was a little higher than I remember but for the buffet, its worth it. Gaming and slot areas were smaller than I remember from past visits. But, that was OK as because we didnt have to walk for miles to play the slot machines which payed off as expected. However, for the first time in 25 years, I left Las Vegas with a bad taste because of the parking cost and skyrocketing food prices. It will be a while before we decide to return. Other than these things, it still can be a fun place as long as you dont mind bringing a fatter wallet, payng for parking and inflated prices for food.
