I go to this theater quite a bit. Not because I want to, but because I have to. Its the only place to catch new movies in Kearney. The theater itself is actually very nice. Its clean with plenty of space and the seats are fairly comfortable. The problem with Cinema 8 lies within the staff and the management. The lines at the box office/ concession (yes, they arent separated, thats why there is always such a line) are always long, even when its not busy and the staff have been known to be kinda rude and/or slow. The popcorn is only enjoyable about half the time. And in a world where most theaters are running digital by now Cinema 8 is still using film. Which is sad because they apparently dont know how to use their equipment. I have seen scratches on prints just a few days after being released and they start the projectors off frame almost every time. They dont always show their films in focus either. All in all, my love of movies is what brings me back to this place, not my love of this actual theater. Im always much happier to see movies while out of town. Cinema 8 is the only show in town and boy do they run their theater like its gospel.

There needs to be a ticket only line. SERIOUSLY! Not all people buy concessions at the movie and not all people can get to the movie 40 minutes early to stand in a line. We have missed the beginnings of several movies even after arriving 20-30 minutes early but had to stand in a line while people buy food! My most serious complaint, however, is the dirtiness of the place. When the theater went up we loved it. It was the nicest place around but after only a few years is is declining. The BATHROOMS are HORRIBLE. My most recent visit was on a Friday afternoon. Very few people were there yet bathrooms were dirty, the counters, were wet and the trash overflowing. I would think that slow times in the afternoon would be used to prepare for the evenings larger crowds. On this particular day it appeared that the crowds would arrive to an already filthy restroom. Oh yeah, when I left the restroom there were a minimum of 4 employees just standing around in the concession stand chatting! If another theater were built, Cinema 8 would have troubles with customers being loyal, for sure.

I dont normally complain when I go to an establishment but after attending the cinema 8 this past week I feel like I should share my experience. When I walked up to purchase my tickets at the counter I wasnt greeted politely by anyone. In fact the employees were playing on their phones for a long time before they noticed that I was there. After having to put down their phones to help me they were rude and were more excited to talk amongst eachother than to really even say anything to me. Now I wasnt expecting much but being acknowledged as a living person would have been nice. Not only did I experience poor customer service but the place was a mess. The counters where I purchased my tickets at were sticky, there was stuff all over the floor, I physically moved trash so that I could sit in the seat that I wanted to in the theater. Do the workers actually get paid here or do they just hang out? I really dont think that I will be coming back to this theater location as it is not worth the money to sit in filth and be ignored.

I enjoy attending movies here, but I do agree with other moviegoers, ticket purchasing is inefficient and a better system for drinks/food/tickets would be helpful. Today I ended up going home because the lines were so long that by the time I got my ticket I would have entered the theater too late to see the beginning of my show. Upon my arrival people were standing in line outside to buy tickets even though plenty of Lobby room inside. They need a better traffic flow system (ropes like a fast food restaurant, or something!)

Well how should I put this, Cinema 8 is the closest thing to an old theatre feel you can yet to. Not the paint or cleanliness or the movies. But the feeling of actually being "out" with a few close friends enjoying something that wont matter in a week. That is what Cinemas small home town feel is best at. Nothing crazy, nothing futuristic, nothing over the top. Just you, some friends, and a chill place.

This is pretty much the only theater in Kearney. The theater is always clean, plus I like the security guard on duty while attending. The downside is right now a 3D movie is playing along with the regular version. The regular version isnt offered after 5pm, when most people are off work and can attend. I can do without 3D as Ive attended a couple, theyre neat but I shouldnt be forced into it.

The lines are to long they have 4 registers yet 2 are open I paid $6 for a popcorn and 5 for a pop the theatres are dirty, dont have comfy chairs, they dont have enough movies playing at once, and after spending an afternoon here Ive realized the thought of a simple movie night is ruined because no one can afford it. For a simple ticket popcorn and pop I wasted $22 and didnt even enjoy the movie.

Everytime we go to this theater, the ticket lines take too long because concessions are being sold as tickets are sold. Not everyone who comes to the theater wants to buy concessions. I have suggested repeatedly that they have one line where only tickets are sold. This would expedite the process for those who only wish to buy tickets. So far, nothing has changed.

For a small town cinema, its pretty nice. 8 screens with stadium seating, comfortable chairs, good sound. Concessions are steep, but they compare to every other movie theater in the US. They do free popcorn Mondays and Tuesdays, if you bring your own bowl. The staff do a good job, and keep the place in nice order.

I always enjoy visiting Cinema 8. Comfortable seating, great sound and picture. Theater and rest rooms are clean and overall atmosphere is exceptional. While the idea of a separate line for Ticket buyers only is probably a good one , I personally appreciate the ability to buy tickets and concessions at the same time.

The lines here have no rhyme or reason. So its an inefficient process to get your tickets and food. Plan in advance and buy them online if youre going for a premiere since its the most popular cinema in town and arrive early or risk not sitting with everyone in your party.

There needs to be a seperate line dedicated to tickets. I am a reviewer and have to see long of films. This is the only theater where I have to come 45 minutes early to any show. Even more if its one thats likely to sell out. Think about this seriously please.

They had good smelling popcorn! But when we got there we purchased our tickets to seconds later find out that you had to print out...what day in age can they not look at the barcode or scan or atleast buy the tickets at the theater just alittle disappointed!
