We had an awful experience tonight. First of all I agree with another reviewer in that its difficult to get more than 2 seats together when booking online (which you have to do for the newest movies to even get seats at all). We wanted the reclining seats so we took 3 seats in the 3rd row, which is the handicap row. Well, its not clear in the disclaimer that the handicap seats are actually NO SEATS AT ALL. It states in the disclaimer that you may have to forfeit your seat and I understand that. But no seat at all?! Why would I want to sit on the floor thank-you!!! You can have it! So my husband had to sit separate from us anyhow (in the last seat available in the theater). Then, after my sister and I got our RECLINER seats that we paid a premium for, we realized that our seats didnt even recline. So I again had to get up and ask for help with our seats. An employee checked out our seats and then proceeded to tell us that no seats actually reclined in the handicap row. Hello, didnt we pay for reclining seats!?!? I then asked the employee to get me the manager because the movie started and I had already gone out there twice. He never got the manager. We decided to watch the movie and our necks were in pain by the end of the movie because without the reclining option those seats actually push your head forward when in the upright position. When I spoke with the manager after the movie she refused to refund our tickets or offer us ANYTHING because we had already watched the movie. Im sorry, but we should have been given something for our poor experience, at the very least an apology. I think its terrible that they charge you a premium for reclining seats when they dont recline at all! And the online booking system really needs to be more clear on the actual handicap row and what it is. Lastly, when you ask for the manager to come to you after youve gotten up twice already they actually should come! You failed Emagine.

There has been 3 occasions where I have witnessed this theater ask a mother to leave the movie because of their child, and sadly it happened to us tonight. My son is learning to speak like a 1 yr old talks.. 10 minutes into the movie a manager walks in and stands right next to us... My husband stepped out with my son to try and wear him out. When he attempted to return he was asked not to step back into the movie! No one asked to reimburse his ticket or gave him a warning, he was just not permitted to return. I understand noise is annoying and distracting but the movie sound was much louder than my son. They did give me a voucher to return once I complained and I asked what their policy is for infants... I was simply told if there are complains the child is asked to step out. Needless to say I have a voucher that will never be used, my child is not going anywhere anytime soon & wherever he isnt welcome than neither is my money or business! You did not see me complaining about a sneeze, a laugh, a cough... It seemed this movie theater was more interested in keeping one guest happy than loosing 6.

The MAJORITY of reviews here look like they came from Emagine staff and family. Honestly, why are so many comments in line with what Emagine wants to advertise i.e. big seats, popcorn etc.?? But watch your wallet! They will get you in the door and change prices. I brought the whole family in to watch Tomorrowland. The ticket prices advertised for ALL GENERAL SEATING was $10. However, after I was charged for 5 tickets, I noticed that each ticket cost $11. Nothing said, nothing explained as if I was some moron that would just pay anything. When I asked why, they said that there were no $10 seats for THAT movie (other movies, yes). The kid at the counter was upset that I would want to talk to his boss. Finally, after a 10-minute wait, the 19yr old "manager" told me that he would do nothing and that I should have a "good one". A real smarta** kid too.

The Emagine Theatres are by far my favorite theaters to see movies at!! The Emagine Theatre in Rochester Hills is spacious, clean, and very contemporary-looking! They have a great selection of booze and beer at the bar and the prices arent bad! I typically get their Long Island Iced Tea for just under $12 because they have a lot of bang for your buck! The seats in the theaters are awesome! They are wide and cushy with many of them being reclinable! The Emagine seems to have great sound systems in their theaters too! The Emagine in Royal Oak even has a bowling alley for those of you who have plenty of time to kill before the movie! How cool is that?! As far as movie theaters go, it would be hard to beat the Emagine Theatres!

Saw Cars 3 last night. The film was fun with great soundtrack. However, this theatre is not being kept up to acceptable standards IMO. The recliners are not terribly comfortable, need some upgrades there. The closed captioning device for my hearing impaired husband sporadically didnt work. And the rest rooms......2 stalls were closed because they were "Out of Order". The floor was messy. But the worst was the surface of the "stainless steel" walls and doors. Half hearted wipe marks and lots of fingerprints. There are proper cleaning products for stainless steel that keeps the surfaces looking a lot better than that. Just not a jewel anymore. Seems a half-hearted attempt. Not a sparkling jewel anymore.

The only theatre I frequent for movies; its set back from the main road and it just feels like no one knows about it, which I love. I cant stand all the irresponsible parents who drop their dumb kids off like its a Chuck E Cheese at other theatres. This one has great seating, good beer selection, and poppin olive p- corn. Whats not to like? Never had a bad experience here! And know what? If you have a small child, DO NOT bring them into an adult movie! NO ONE wants to put up with your stupid kids whining, crying, burping, sounds while trying to enjoy THEIR movie. Rent, find a sitter, or take the kid to a kids movie. Dont force your responsibilities on others and ruin their time, jerks.

One of the best movie going experiences in Michigan. The seats are comfortable with some reclining all of the way. Our visits have always found the theater to be clean. Emagine in Rochester has a bar section where you can get a decent selection of beers and cocktails. The prices on the food and drinks are typical of any theater these days, always pricey, but not out of the norm. The employees are always friendly and helpful. Recently they have started bringing employees into the theater before the movie starts to sell concessions right from the theater and served to you.

I love the new seating changes. Most of the chairs have been upgraded, to reclining leather seats, which are wider, and much more comfortable. The aisles are very wide, and provide plenty of clearance, for people to walk by, without disrupting your experience. The only thing I wish theyd improve, are the seat numbers. Currently, the seat numbers are hidden, on the inside of the seat, and is very difficult to read. Since they use assigned seating, they should make it a lot easier to find your seat. It would be impossible, once the movie had actually started.
