Lets start with the POSITIVES: An absolutely amazing looking environment. This place is classy. I walked in with shorts and felt I should have dressed up. My jaw literally dropped.. even my 5 year son said "whoa daddy, this is a nice movie theater." I couldnt agree more. When we actually got to our auditorium, I was yet again, blown away by the seating. Leg room was fantastic and seats were super comfy. If AMC theaters are McDonalds, than this is Capital Grille. Also, the food area here looks gourmet. Almost everything about this place was amazing... ALMOST. The NEGATIVES: I had no idea where to go or who to talk to when I walked in. Two employees were working (chatting) behind a small kiosk, they saw me looking around and I wasnt greeted. Now heres the thing... I dont really expect to get greeted at a movie theater. I walk up to the ticket window and buy my ticket. Or simply follow others who are in front of me in line. When I went to this Emagine, though, there wasnt many people there, so no lines meant I had no idea where to get my tickets. The employees didnt ask how they may help.. in fact when I walked up and said I needed tickets they said for what show... I told them, they took my money and continued talking to each other about how other theaters are "ratchet." When they gave me my tickets, they didnt say anything about where I go next. So I as confused as hell. Also, when I walked up to get my tickets, I even said, hey, sorry to bother you guys but, Ive never been here and need tickets to ****. On to the food area. Again, a bunch of employees standing around, no one guiding anyone. All I was hearing were discussions about their weekend plans. I dont expect them to work the entire time they are there. That is unrealistic. But I was a paying customer, who was kinda confused about where to get popcorn and a drink from. Walked to the back, got popcorn, finally figured out where to get a drink from (thanks to the nice gal working the popcorn area). Still, no one asked to see my tickets and guide me to auditorium 4. So I looked up and around and figured it out myself. Oddly enough, the project room door was open. Not sure if that is acceptable, but I know that gear isnt cheap. THE MOVIE EXPERIENCE: Please, please, pleeeeaaaasseee educate your employees about EMAX. Heres the deal, I go to AMC for the IMAX "experience." I work in the film industry.. I know what IMAX is. The technology used to actually capture (parts of) the film project, not just an upscale. I asked about EMAX several times, literally no one could give me a straight answer. So I went to your site.. and it is exactly what I thought, an upscaled version of the film. Larger screen, better sound. The problem is, the employee told me it was IMAX. Studios dont use EMAX cameras when filming a project, they use IMAX cameras. And if what Emagine is selling really is IMAX (with IMAX PROJECTORS AND ALL) and they call it EMAX... they should clarify that. The employees should know that. Which brings me to the picture and sound quality. Picture quality suffered a bit. almost like a smudge on a lens when taking a picture. I checked the are the projector shoots out and the glass seemed a bit dirty. it could have been the culprit, but who knows. The average movie goer may enjoy the sound, but still.. it really wasnt "great". Im not sure if it were the acoustics in the room or something else. So that is my incredibly lengthy review. To summarize: Positives: Jaw dropping décor, seriously. It is eye popping Gourmet food area Unbelievably comfy seating Negatives: -Employees kinda stand around not doing much -Confusing layout (this could be fixed with guidance) -Is EMAX, IMAX or not. Just cut to it. Its really black and white -uneducated employees when it comes to the above -picture quality wasnt great, at all really -sound was loud, but a bit "meh"

I came into the theater to see Kong on 03/12/17. At the 5:40 showing. This is the first time coming to this Emagine and it was one of worst experiences Ive had. Ive been to Rochester Hills Emagine and the Royal Oak location and had perfect experiences. But this one will go into the history of the worst. First, the scanners for the tickets kept freezing several times, I tried to get help but couldnt find any staff around. After I finally picked up my tickets, I went over to the concessions line, which, in all honesty, was disguising. Popcorn and seasonings everywhere. Cant be sanitary. After I got my popcorn, I asked for a drink and the staff rudely pointed to the other side of the theater. Once getting to the drinks, I asked for a small, and the two girls working, rolled their eyes, acting as though I interrupted the conversation. I went to get the drink from the freestyle, and the bottom was full of ice, and half the selection was out. The trash was all around the trash, but not in it. As I get to the theater, the person showing us to our seats was vague and I had to find them myself. As I was watching my movie, kids were running around, opening the exit door, letting the light in, there was talking all over the theater, phones on everywhere, and multiple people running in and out of the theater. At the end of the movie, I was waiting for the end credit scene, and the ushers started to clean right in front of me so I couldnt see the credits. After I came out of the theater, I had to squeeze by a group of ushers to get out. After, I went to the restroom, and there were two managers in the bar area, I could tell they were because I saw one earlier, and read her name tag, I didnt remember the actual name. The two managers were both on their phones, and drinking from small cups, seemingly doing nothing. I go into the restroom, and the trash was over flowing and all over the ground. A woman came out of the restroom complaining that her toilet wouldnt flush. I found that multiple were in the same condition. Overall, this has been the worst experiences at an Emagine I have ever had. Never coming to this one again. I will definitely not recommend this Emagine to anyone. AMC is a much better choice for the Macomb area.

I would normally have given 5 stars. However, the past few times have been discriminatory. I am disabled, one of my best friends and my mom. The first experience was when I bought tickets there and the woman gave us tickets for the same day (I asked for the next day). When we walked in, we found out but I also seen the handicapped section full with parents and their children where not one of them had handicapped issues. Many times I check movies and handicapped spaces are taken: 2 seats in the middle of a group of 4 seats, or 2 people in a group of 3. 90% of the time, the middle 2 in a group are taken. There are seats in groups of 2 in 3 other spots.. If people try to get handicapped for 2 people, they should have to take seats for 2 people. One time it was arranged for our group of 4 (3 handicapped) to have the group of 4 seats in handicapped and the 2 people would be asked to move (a choice of 3 other spots in groups of 2 in handicapped). When they walked in we received dirty looks bc they were asked to pick seats in a group of 2, we continued to get looks when we used our handicapped devices and whispered comments. They werent teenagers!!! They were a couple: mid 40s and should know better and have respect AND get this- they had no special needs!!! They also complained enough to get special tickets for in the future and some other coupons. We dont want to be handicapped needing special services but we have to. Its not fair for us but dont take advantage bc seats may be better. Most theaters, handicapped is on the lowest part and no one tries to get those seats. I never understood how people can be so horrible. Im infuriated now again bc its still happening despite being told "things will be changing". I have many ideas but cant seem to get to the top of Emagine to fully address this and changes be made. I want to take my nephew (has muscular dystrophy and in a power wheelchair) to the movies but inconsiderate people take up group spots and my nephew is of the age now where he will notice the treatment the handicapped community receives. It disgusts me and people should be ashamed and Emagine should be ashamed for lying about changes being made.
