I come here often. In fact as I write this I just got home from a late double feature. The movies are 2 coupled one after another. You can come whenever and stay for the next movie. So if you miss the first, see the second and the first will follow again after. They have an old 50s feel to the place, and they have upgraded to better digital projection machines from the old platters of yesteryear. The movies are a little harder to see if it is a very dark movie, but the thrill of watching the movie there is really unique. Im not sure if this is still true now, but when they had 9 screens they were (I think, dont quote me) the largest in the country or even world. I think even with the 5 I heard they are largest in the country. The Wyoming side no longer operates. You enter from Ford Rd across from the gas station, just west of Wyoming. Be aware if you come during the weekend you might find it hard to turn in coming from the Schaeffer side because of the amount of people going in. The price is good considering 2 shows. During the winter they are only open during the weekend, and check the website to find out when they open for the whole week. During the summer they are open every day and if there is a really nice day or a really popular movie or both it can be extremely packed as was the case for Jurassic World (they were beyond capacity!) If you have never been, you should try it for the nostalgia alone. A bucket list item for sure. Take your kids! Many families with a truck back in and flip the tailgate down or with a van put children on the roof. Unlike the regular theatres you can bring in all the snacks you want without having to wear a 12 pocket winter jacket in the middle of summer that is 3 sizes too big. Security will never pat you down and confiscate your candy bars and Pepsi. And you wont feel like a felon walking in with smuggled food items. You CANNOT bbq there for obvious fire reasons, but you can bring a cooler and (insert any fast food restaurant items).

I went to see Monsters University paired with Iron Man 3. A great double feature which having watched the pairings change at this drive to figure out what I would like to see it is rare to get a good match. While a great idea of a drive in and probably was a great time when it was originally constructed it now suffers from light pollution from the surrounding warehouses, light static on the radio transmission for the screens, and a lack of consideration by other attendees. I went with my date and was looking forward to keeping my windows down because it was hot, but due to families parked on either side of us chain smoking we had to alternate what window was open so we wouldnt be consumed by the smoke throughout both movies. There was also a period where some employee was walking through the rows selling glow sticks and rings to the kids which were then were waving around below the screen all night. Who sells light up objects at a movie!!! There were distractions to say the least. The facilities show much wear and how old this drive-in is and the parking drive in route is in need of regrading. Last throughout the second movie of the double feature cars started to drive out with lights on. Of the drive-ins that Ive attended before this this ranks at the bottom of the experiences. While it may have more than enough parking spaces so you wont have a problem getting in I caution to not have high expectations.

I really love that going to the drive-in is still a popular activity! When I went last week for my first time at this location I was surprise to see the long lines! Which leads me to give you all a quick tip, get there 20-30 min before the movie is scheduled! The lines can get really long and you will be waiting for quite a while. They have a good movie selection and while at first I thought the price was a little much you are paying to see 2 movies, so heres my next tip, actually look on their website for movie times because its 2 movies back to back and on fandango and other movie sites they only tell you the individual movie times. I was also cool that they had both the option to use speakers they kept on posts next to your car so you could bring lawn chairs and sit outside or you could stay inside your car and just tune it to the radio station. I wouldve given 5 stars but the place is showing its age and could use some light remodeling, the restrooms especially were a little sorry and not the nicest to use. Although I do like that they keep the integrity and still keep mostly everything such as the structures as it was in its original state, it just needs a little work and I feel that would make a world of difference. Cant wait to come back once I get the chance!

Theatre 1 is so dim we couldnt see any of the monkeys faces in the planet of the apes. Some really nasty things were scattered around the grounds. Employees dont clean the place. Clearly people dont go there to watch movies. There were a few other families trying to have a nice evening together. Mostly the people were not trying to watch the movie but were walking around smoking stuff and inhaling things (completely out in the open or obviously with their cabin lights lit up bright inside their cars) and strangers creeping around staring into the cars of others. No security. Dont even think about going to the snack stand...and if you do, youll be sorry....just dont order a chili dog. Pre-made hotdogs sitting under a heat lamp for only God and the employees know how long... (days? weeks? yikes...) and the chili looked (and tasted) like someone exploded diarrhea. Never ever ever again.

I love it !!! A classic for Detroit. I hate people have negative things to say about the only Drive In On this coast I believe...Me and mine were there almost every weekend during the summer, and as much as we can during the winter. I love hearing the kids play, and seeing the couples cuddle. I stock up on food and we are on our way. Perfect movie match ups for the double features, excellent pricing. They serve very decent tasting food, not to mention there are restaurants in the area. If you are a suburban person who expects silence during movies, or a miserable prick. Then this establishment isnt for you. Great place to meet up with friends and family. I hope its never closed down. I want every child from this generation on to enjoy a timeless classic.

I really dont understand how this place has such good reviews. First of all the prices are outrageous. For $9 per person Ill just go to a theater and actually enjoy the movie. Second the experience was bad. The radio reception was fuzzy and choppy, there were cars with subs causing lots of background noise (one of them didnt even have anyone in it! The contrast of the screen was horrid. contrast means the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white. In this case the brightest white was very similar to the blackest black. I couldnt tell what was going on most of the movie. I will never go here again. Ive had much better drive in experiences before so I know it is only this location that is so bad.
