Emagine Birch Run is not just a movie theater; it aims to offer a complete entertainment package. From comfortable reclining seats to a variety of snacks and drinks, the theater tries to provide an at-home comfort level. However, the experience is marred by issues like increased pricing and crowd management.

I dont get to go to the movies very often, but when I do I very much enjoy seeing them at this theater. I remember years ago sitting in rigid, uncomfortable chairs, having no room in the aisle, and sub-par snacks and drinks. Cinema Hollywood has made the movie-going experience far more enjoyable with huge, comfy recliners and enough aisle space that youre not sticking your butt in other peoples faces when you go by. They dont just offer pop, popcorn, and the requisite candy snacks, but also beer and cocktails. Its like watching a movie at home but with a gigantic screen, digital surround sound, and 100 additional people. The reason Im withholding a single star is because I felt the lights didnt dim soon enough, and came back on too soon. It may have just been a fluke, but they werent dimmed or off during the previews which made them hard to see, and they went back up to full brightness almost immediately after the movie was over which was jarring to the senses. Aside from that, its always a pleasant experience to go to this theater!

Formerly Cinema Hollywood, recent renovations have greatly improved the atmosphere and comfort. From the serve-yourself Coca-Cola Freestyle machines and motorized recliners in all of the auditoriums to the ability to choose your seat with a designation on your ticket-eliminating the need to wait in line for your favorite spot. Unfortunately, as I have experienced every time over 8 years at this location, staff does nothing but give out warnings for people who choose to be disruptive. They do expect you to leave during the movie to tell someone rather than having a notification system from within the auditorium to help preserve anonymity and safety in reporting obnoxious movie-goers. I live in Birch Run, so it most convenient to go to Emagine-but the terrible experience with obnoxious movie-goers in the area cause me to prefer a 20-30 minute drive out to Grand Blanc for NCG Cinemas with IMAX. I hope that someday they will get their act together because it nice to have a movie theater nearby.

The reclining seats are comfortable, and I really like the chance to choose which seat I want ahead of time. I just buy my tickets online, and when I get there I can stop off and buy popcorn without worrying that all the good seats will be gone. However, I will say that since the place was remodeled, it is much busier. While that is a good thing for the owners, its an adjustment for their patrons. Im used to being able to just whip into the parking lot and walk in. Well, thats not the case anymore. Plan extra time for parking and for waiting in line. Also, due to the new system of having seats that are assigned, theres no way to choose to sit with an empty seat between yourself and someone you dont know. If that makes you uncomfortable, Id recommend going on the less busy days or to movies that have already been out awhile so the theater will not be completely full. Theyve also updated the popcorn area so that you can add flavoring to your popcorn and you get your own drinks.

Very upset about this seating thing. It has been nothing but a hassle and a huge pain. Why cant it be simple to even go watch a movie with my family now. First were told we cant sit together. Then were referred to the clio theatre for a show supposedly starting in 20 min only to find out the guy lied to us and another family when we showed up over an hour early. So essentially we drove to clio and back for no reason. So then we planned to buy tickets ahead of time for a later showing only to find out the only 3 seats they have together are in the front row so we have to crank our headsback for and hour and 45 min. Great theatre guys. Top notch business plan you got there. Wont be returning. Ill just wait for the blu ray

Do NOT buy the D box seats! Huge waste of money. They are not the big comfy recliners. They are regular movie chairs on a lift with skinny arm rests. The only thing they do is vibrate and move which is actually super annoying after the first 45 seconds. I turned my off about 3 minutes in. Plus the chairs are so high that my feet barely touched the ground and when it tilted and leaned forward I had to stretch my legs on tippy toe to keep my balance. Would never have paid extra if I had realized they were normal seats. If I was reviewing the regular (much nicer) I would give 4 stars.

I could literally count on one hand how many times that I have seen a movie at a theater in the last 20 years. Recently my son took me to a movie at Emagine theater in Birch Run. So just imagine my surprise when I discovered how comfortable the seats were and that they reclined back. That made for a very enjoyable and comfortable movie experience. The concession stand is decent. And if Im not mistaken, they also sell beer at Emagine. If I see another movie or two in the next 20 years, Im sure I will go where I will be comfortable. That place will be Emagine Theaters in Birch Run.

Weve been going to this theater for probably the last seven years and enjoyed it but since they remodeled all the theaters last year we dont go anywhere else. The seats are like your lazyboy at home except the recliner part is electric! People can walk by you when you are reclining with no problem. Popcorn is great and pop is self-service with the new coke machine with your choice of 200 flavors. Were seniors so we can get a break on tickets and for the younger crowd they have a full service bar in the lobby. Just a great place to see a movie! Thank you Paul!

This is my favorite theater!! I love coming often and enjoying a cocktail while watching nearly ALL the new movies. Their pop corn is great and the service has always been awesome!! However, I used to come more often and like it WAY better before the remodel, price hike and lack of seating!!!! Sure the new seats are AMAZING but I have come several times w no seating avail. For someone who comes often the bells and whistles arent necessary. I prefer the old price and an almost guaranteed seat or at least a choice in theater seating for the price!

Have been going here for years. Friendlier than the new Quality 10 in Saginaw. Same amount of driving to go to Saginaw or Birch Run. Always choose Birch Run if movie is available. Prices are reasonable, except the alcohol drinks are too expensive. $7.50 for a beer. Enjoy their loyalty program. Always clean and great staff. Very helpful! Only downside is choice of movies. They seem to end movies after only a couple or few weeks, forcing me to go to Saginaw sometimes when I cant see the movie when it is first released.

This WAS my go to theatre until the assigned seating was implemented, and the prices increased. I do love the comfortable seating, but that part of the experience is offset by having to choose my seat from a map, the increase in prices, and the "fewer available seats." Pre-booking is more expensive than at competitors, so, I choose the competitors. I havent been there in months, and as I choose a movie today, it will be elsewhere. I miss the old Cinema Hollywood experience.
