AMC Star Fairlane 21 is not the top theatre choice for many but as a professional critique here is my review: I have visited the theatre twice per month for the past three months totaling in six visits. The theatre did have a couple of rude employees in the first few visits but as time went on I saw them being weeded out and new hires were being brought in. The seats were stained and the floors were sticky but that is probably due to customers not notifying their Guest Service station of spills. Also, carpet is seen to be coming up and some seats are disfunctional but Ive heard talk of remodeling (hopefully they are true and if they are I hope customers treat the theatre better after the upgrades). I notice the cleaners (ushers I believe) taking out many carts of trash when the last movies have started and Ive seen them race from one theatre to clean another. It seems as if they try their hardest to keep the theatres clean while trying to maintain the lobby and restrooms. Also, their guest services are amazing and responsible, they try to solve problems as soon as possible. Just yesterday I witnessed them handle a customer who threatened an employ by giving him a refund and kindly asking him to leave, helping a little girl find her mother, and as soon as complaints were made they tried to solve them right away. Lastly, reading the other reviews, Id like to remind customers (I also remind myself of this often) that their fellow customers are the ones who leave the messes. Ive spotted fellows piling trash on top of a full container when there is another trashcan but 10 feet away. And then they dont notify Guest Services as I would. You guys are complaining about yourselves, your friends, your family, and your children when you mention theatre cleanliness not the theatre itself. Thank you Star Fairlane 21 for an AMC Amazing experience.

Very poor customer service. I went in last week to see Side Effects, the 6pm showing and had my son who is 9 months old and my mother with me. There is sign clearly posted in the lobby that reads "...children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult". The cashier rang me up for 2 tickets (mom and me) and then says "but he cant go in". I asked her to clarify and she says "kids cry so...he cant come in" yes, such great english right? Then she follows with "Do you still want the ticket?". How ignorant would I have to be? Ok son, Im going to watch a movie so here is your diaper and bottle. Really? I couldnt believe the attitude behind her tone. I rarely go to AMC theaters, I must prefer MJR. What really irritated me is that my son does not cry. We have taken him to Star Southfield, MJR Marketplace 21 and to the MJR off Hall Road without anyone asking me to leave him in the car. I wasnt going to write a complaint until I complained to the manager. I spoke to Scott, who probably wasnt even the manager and he says "Well, yes any child under 6 is not allowed from 6pm to close". I told him that they should update their sign because it is misleading and that their competitors do not have this policy. He said "Well, Ill check into how you were treated". What they really need is to get rid of the true movie annoyance, the ghetto people and teens that frequent the location is appauling. That is the stellar service that youll receive folks. Not to mention the always sticky floors. If you go, good luck.

Poor service poor attitudes poor hygiene. I would like to say before continuing that its not customers job to tell employees when to do their job they should be monitoring. Letting trash overflow n walking by as if they dont see it till theyre made to replace the trash bag is unprofessional. N yea theres a brief cleaning that takes place between shows but there also suppose to be a detailed cleaning that takes place once the theater closes for the day that includes shampooing seats. Whoever thinks this is displaying good business ethics is ignorant. N places need to be held at a higher standard so if your paying franchise theater prices youre not getting dollar show service. Urine and fecal matter throughout bathroom not just the stahl. Security harass you. Any fountain drink will give you diarehha for a couple days. Girls are fine as hell though n thats the only thing this theater got going for itself. Btw forgot to mission if you go late at night the employees no longer care. Went to see a late night showing of green inferno and there was throw up on the floor in the main lobby by concession. Watched my movie two hours later came out and vomit still there. Wish upper management payed more surprise visits here.

Ive been to Star Fairlane a few times and never really had a great experience, but my recent visit was worth posting about. First, it was insanely busy and there werent enough employees working the ticket booth and concession stand to accommodate the crowd, but there were about 10 employees standing around the help desk chatting. Second, the whole building was littered with popcorn and the floors were sticky with soda all the way from the front lobby to the seats in the theatre. Third, my movie experience in general was hindered by constant movement of people going in and out and pushing my seat, multiple talking and sometimes screaming children with passive parents (it was a maturely rated movie) and a drunk walking in over an hour into the movie shining a flashlight at the screen as well as filming and taking pictures with their sound on. I know I cant hold a theatre accountable for the patrons, but there was nothing done about the disturbances by the staff. I requested a refund from a staff member, but I asked too late in the movie to get one. The employee was kind and understanding and provided two free passes to any AMC theatre, but I wont be coming back to Star Fairlane.

The theatre itself is top-notch. Ive been there many times and enjoyed myself. Unfortunately the theatre has become the local weekend hot spot for unsupervised teenagers. I can tune out normal disruptions - a person talking here or there, a single cell phone that goes off during a movie - but the weekend crowd at Fairlane is so incredibly unruly that I just walked out a movie 20 minutes into it (and I have never done that before). Teenagers were literally running up and down the aisles, in and out of the theatre, cell phones were going off, kids were yelling across the aisles to each other. The management is obviously aware of the problem - they took the time to announce to the crowd that there was a "zero tolerance" policy about cell phone usage prior to the start of the movie. Management, however, didnt actually carry out on their "threats." On a positive note, they didnt blink an eye when I asked for a refund and gave it to me (and two other couples in line), no questions asked. Obviously this type of behavior is commonplace. Its too bad - the theatre is nice and close to home, but Ill drive a few extra miles so I can actually enjoy my movie from now on.

Ordered ticket online for 9:30am imax 3d showing. When we arrived and after we got our tickets , there was no one to take our tickets and us our 3 d glasses. We were going to get the glasses from the stand and give tickets at service desk. An employee yells across the lobby at us and insults my husband and continues to barate him. He kept complaining about do 3 jobs and how we need to just wait. My husband proceeded to the service desk to talk to guest relations abut his rudeness. He kept complaining about my husband to me and my daughter. We finally got our glasses and went to our seats. When we got into the theatre it was 9:30. The screen was black and we sat and waited 15 to 20 minutes before the movie actually started. When we went to the concession stand before the movie started, had to wait extremely long for 1 person to get their 1 drink cup and 1 popcorn. It is very disappointing to be treated poorly and to have to wa it for no reason without even an apology for the movie being delayed. The theatre is not the cleanest. The drink stations need cleaning.
