I was just at The Improper Bostonian this afternoon, 7/1, for Happy Hour with Jim Plunkett. I had very little issue with waiting in line from 2:45pm until 5:15pm. What I did find issue with, was the conduct of the staff. There was apparently a small altercation among patrons inside the bar, and when the participants came outside to leave willingly and of their own accord, the security staff took it upon themselves to physically assault these patrons in front of 100+ people in line to get in. One of the patrons being assaulted ran away, being punched and chased by no less than ten bouncers in bright blue or orange shirts. Once the Dennis Police Department showed up, they questioned the second individual that the bouncers apprehended. Then a bouncer came up to the line and announced that The Improper was no longer letting more people in for the daytime event. An older gentleman in a red shirt identifying himself as the GM then screamed at the police, which went over approximately as well as you could imagine... Prayers to the many out of shape bouncers, especially the individual that sprained his knee.

I went to Happy Hour Saturday July 28, 2007 to see Jim Plunkett play. I was with a large group of friends. Somehow, someone was able to slip something in my drink and it knocked me on my butt. It caused me to feel nauseaus then almost coma-like. I could hear everything going on around me but I was unable to move or control my body. Luckily my friends were there to take care of me. They had to carry me to the car and then to bed. It was a helpless feeling. I am not sure if someone does this for kicks or was hoping to catch me alone...but please beware of crowded bars and keep an eye on your drink! In addition - the bar was so hot and they would not open any windows or doors or put any air conditioning on. It is too bad - because Jim is so fun to see for Happy Hour !

The Improper Bostonian is the best place on Cape Cod to see live music, grab a beer, hang with friends & meet new ones. Its under new ownership & management. I foresee great things from this place and look forward to going back.

The drinks were kind of expensive, and were light with alcohol. There was an interesting mix of people attending the bar, including locals, tourist, a great place for special occasions
