My first experience at this establishment and I enjoyed my time and loved the last part of the drag show! I would like to share with you guys one negative thing that I experienced. My friend purchased three shots from the upstairs bar and I bought four drinks. I had to put my purse down to enjoy my first shot, so we all walked to the table closest to us; as we were about to sling back our drinks I thought it would be nice for the minor (friends new boyfriend) to pretend like he was drinking with us and hold up a pretend shot. Obviously not the best idea, but for my first time being there and my first time meeting him, I wanted to cheers to the special occasion. Well, about thirty seconds later this big buff older looking fellow shined his light on us and at that point he started with his accusations.... For about five minutes, I had to stand there and explain to him the misunderstanding. He told me he could get me and the minor kicked out and "ARRESTED" for pretending to have a drink. I kept extremely calm and bit my tongue before I blurted out something on the lines of, "Shouldnt YOU be arrested for watching the other bartenders over pour liquor to accommodate the customers?" "Oh, and arent you suppose to stop serving alcoholic beverages to someone who has had too many within a certain period of time." I couldve understood a slap on the wrist; instead, he drilled me about the mishap. It was unnecessary for him to talk to me the way he did. I deserve to be treated like an adult, whatever the situation may be.

Had an awful experience here last night. Arrived here with a reservation and was seated immediately. I really liked the atmosphere as we walked into the restaurant. Upon reaching my table, I almost slipped on a napkin that was laying on the floor. As we were seated, I noticed the table directly next to us had not been cleared. There were dirty dishes, napkins, empty glasses and leftover food all across the table. The waitress seated us and said that she would be back with water. After about 10 minutes, she returned without water and asked if she could take our drink order. I asked if it was possible to have someone clear the table next to us. She said, "Sure." After about 5 minutes, she returned and took a few items off the table, leaving behind used silverware, dishes and glasses. It took 10 minutes, for her to return and she finally brought our water. At this time, the table still had not been cleared -- leaving us to stare at someones used dishes. I went to get up and find a manager. Once I was able to speak with someone, after waiting another 5 minutes, I was asked if I could be offered an appetizer or cocktail. In this situation, I just asked for a dirty table to be cleared and at no time was that offered as a solution. Not to mention, it had taken nearly 20 minutes to get water. I couldnt believe the lack of service at Sambuca. Personally, I cant eat in an environment that does not appear clean. I dont think that is too much to ask for in 2015.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful, however, I have one complaint........ While I was at this Sambuca location recently I was sitting with my friends at the bar and I noticed that the bartender on staff was stocking the cocktail straws (which I applaud her diligence), however, while she was stocking, she continued to run her {bare} hands up and down the straws to stack them the same level, and then continued to pat the top of the straws and run her hands across the top to get them to the same level in the container. I understand what she was doing and, again, I applaud her for her diligence in doing the monotonous tasks, however, I found extremely disgusting and unsanitary. My friends and I were all in disbelief and quite grossed out by it. Having worked in the food industry for over 5 years I understand cleanliness, policies, codes, sanitation, etc., and I cannot fathom that bare hands touching the item that individuals put in their mouths as sanitary. The restaurant was not crowded, and so it was extremely obvious to watch as she was standing right in front of us at the bar. I am thrown off by it and am not sure if I will order a beverage including a straw from this location.... If this happens in front of me in plain sight, I am scared to know what happens behind the scenes in the kitchen...

For starters, I got food poisoning here. On top of that, the food was greasy and pretty low-quality compared to how they present themselves as a restaurant. Additional problems: The band that was playing that night was just plain bad, and deafeningly loud. Impossible to have a conversation. When I pointed this fact out to the waiter, he just rolled his eyes and walked away. When we pulled up to park, we noticed the whole parking lot is valet only. I asked the valet if theres a fee because I wasnt carrying cash. The valet said no need to pay. I let him park my car. On the way out he refused to let me into my own car without payment. I had to trudge out to an ATM by foot to get cash, then get back. The valet then laughed and slammed my car door. Quite possibly the most unprofessional, downright bad restaurant Ive ever visited in Dallas. I expect this kind of crap in LA, but not here. I certainly wont be returning.

Below anything I would have thought. The bartender has no clue how to make a good drink. The food was about what youd expect to eat at a restaurant about to get shut down by the health inspector. WAY overpriced. Im talking $60 a plate overpriced for inedible food. Service was great but not enough to make up for the food we sent back. Seriously folks, this place bombed really bad. There was not a single person there eating dinner and maybe 5 or 6 at the bar drinking. This was during the evening dinner rush hour. That should tell you something. I had high hopes for Sambuca. High hopes quickly turned into a nightmare as soon as we took our first bite. One good thing about them is for $5 you can valet and walk to other near by restaurants as opposed to paying $10 at the meters.

Visited Dallas for daughters birthday and family in the area recommended this place for after dinner live music so we all went - a party of 8. Went late so we knew restaurant was closed. One of the waiters kept following us around and told us that the tables were reserved for dinner guests. Since we only had drinks I guess it wasnt allowed? Anyway we decided to finish the drink and leave. He followed us to the bar and then said "Im soooooo sorry, didnt realize it was this late, you can sit anywhere". NO THANKS. First and LAST time we go there and definitely would not recommend it to anyone, apology or not. Perhaps we didnt fit the "type" of customer they want? Ill stick around Austin thank you. Giving it a one so it will publish but that incident makes it a ZERO.

Drinks were watered down. Ordered an old fashioned and a mint julep. Both drinks tasted like a drink after all the ice melts. Some of the food is good and would have bumped me up to a three or four star but the service was awful and the waitress tried to cheat us. We were given brunch menus and ordered at 2:50 pm, but were charged based on the dinner menus which start at 3 pm. The manager came out and pretended he was doing us a favor by correcting the waitresses mistake, and was very condescending about it. The waitress dropped off the corrected check with much attitude which still wasnt completely correct but we took the $22 adjustment and didnt want to deal with it anymore.
