Very dissappointed in this hotel. We recently stayed here for our daughters wedding. We blocked rooms and suites over a year in advance, yet 3 weeks before the wedding we were told they had contracted with another event for the same time frame and had guaranteed the other event all of the hotels double rooms; which meant our party could not be guaranteed doubles - but they would gladly provide as many cots as we needed. Three days before the wedding they contacted us to let us know that enough double rooms had become available for our guests. This was great news but in the mean time it put a lot of undue stress on a bride and her family. On top of that, when guests arrived they didnt verify first names or room types. Therefore guests were assigned the incorrect room types (king rooms instead of suites). By the time our guests found out the room was not the correct type the charges for that room were already applied to their credit cards and could not be reversed until the following Monday when the banks were open. When they were actually given their correct rooms (2.5 hours later) the charges for that room were also charged to their credit cards. Sure hope the hotel covers any overage fees the guests had because of the hotels error. When my husband came to pick our daughter up in her wedding gown he was told he could not wait in the valet parking area for her but that he would have to park on the street. When she came downstairs to be transported to her wedding she had to walk down the street in her wedding dress to where he was able to park. Very dissappointed in the customer service of this hotel. Im sure its fine if you are just staying there for a night or two, but if you are trying to host an event I would look someplace else. BTW, the other local hotel we also blocked just to the east of this one had no issues whatsoever :D

Never again will I stay at this hotel! It was ridiculous in terms of high price and NO amenities. A group of colleagues and I stayed at this hotel for an Education Conference this past week. I have recently stayed at two Marriott Hotels (this one and the Cornhusker in Lincoln). I must say, I am very disappointed. The Des Moines Marriott was a joke. Not only was our check out clerk rude, but the amenities were a joke. There was no free Wi-Fi (which as educators and conference attendees is completely ridiculous), but when I went to make coffee in my room the next morning I had no cups nor coffee-just the coffee pot. The bathrooms are very small and crowded. The hot tub was scalding hot. There was not even a continental breakfast nor free coffee in the lobby. To get my coffee, I had to pay $6.00...what a crock of poo! Needless to say, my colleagues and I decided that for the next conference we would NOT be staying at this hotel again. We will drive the extra 10 minutes and stay at the Wildwood Lodge in Clive. The have EXCELLENT amenities including but not limited to FREE COFFEE and breakfast as well as free wi-fi. Rest assured, that we will be passing the word as to what a hole this hotel truly is. Oh, did I mention the $13.00 per day parking! Really, I am paying over $150 per night and the hotel cannot even provide a free parking area? What a jip!

Arrived at the hotel at 10 pm on a Friday night to check in. Valet was full, so we parked in a parking garage across the street, and walked nearly 10 mins through the skywalk to the hotel. The man in front of me in line at check in was mad that his king size bed room reservation was over booked and they wanted to offer him a double bed room. He was not happy. I waited, and then when it was my turn to check in, the same thing, over booked. They offered a room that had a Murphy bed that pulled down from the wall as an upgrade!? I questioned the staff about selling me a king size bed and not having one available, and she told me that this was the busiest night shes ever seen at the hotel. Which I have a feeling that every weekend night is like this. During the check in, the lady left for 10 mins and returned with a manager. He said nothing to me, he just started typing at the computer like an airline employee does when a flight is canceled. After about 3-4 mins of typing, he looks up at me and says, "we are going to give you a double bed room for free, no taxes, and well give you free breakfast." The room was clean, the beds were small and the mattresses feel like a nice air mattress. Id never come back. Happy birthday to me. Thanks Marriott for the free room, but its not enough to for me to say anything nice at all.

Checked in Mar.5.Stay was 2 nights. The room was nice. We were there for the Iowa deer classic. We walked by a restaurant in the motel on our way to the classic the 1st night thinking we could eat there on the way back to our room. We got there to discover it was closed. So we ordered room service. Went to bed and we were woken by a very loud and obnoxious drunk man pounding. On our neighbors door . We listened to everything for a good hour then it stopped. Next day never did find a place to eat in the hotel. Not in a brochure nor were there any signs. The 2nd night our neighbors started about 9:00 ,slamming the door (at least 50 times) ,banging on the wall ,talking ,yelling, cussing, people in and out till about 3:30 in the morning. I heard kids voices and about 10 or more adult voices. I know they were all drinking heavily. Not a lot impression on the kids. They apparently have no regard for the paying customers in the hotel that were there trying to sleep. I wanted to call &complain ,but hubby said no . So after only about 3hrs. of sleep we had a 6hr. drive home. I know we were not the only people who heard those idiots all night. Youd have to be dead not to. Very disappointed . Im pretty sure I saw security guards on duty. Where were they?

Valet people and bartender very friendly - give them the star to them. Otherwise, Front desk personnel always answered "I dont know" to all the questions asked; when asked for the closest restaurant they said "we dont know", and then they referred us to a mall that was closed due to the holiday; when asked about where to buy milk for the baby, they referred us to the closest Starbucks which was four blocks away (obviously they dont have any experience with hungry children); I did not buy milk in advance knowing they had a Starbucks in the hotel, but closed at 5 pm. Furthermore, the lady said, I can get a microwave for your room. On top of that, I asked where I could change my baby boy and the guy pointed me to the men restroom. Seriously! When asked why the printer didnt work, they answered they didnt know. So, we had to figure out by ourselves how to make it work and then pay five bucks to print one page. In addition, the swimming pool looked like nobody had clean it in at least a week. Very disappointing; The customer service was very poor. We ended up staying over night only, instead of the three days we were planning on. this is not a kids friendly hotel at all.
