I thought I was "treating" my family to a nicer Hotel and I could not have been more wrong. My toddler has a host of medical issues causing us to travel to the University Hospital multiples a year and often times several times a month. When I called to book a room with a Hospital Discount they quoted me a very unreasonable rate and I booked it on Priceline and spent $145+taxes, etc. We checked in and got to our room where we immediately found trash in our room including the previous nights guests pizza receipt and candy wrappers. The bathroom smelled so terrible we had to keep the door shut. Our crib was delivered and the crib sheets hadnt even been changed! They were dirty and were covered in human hair. (and I have photos) I asked for them to send up clean sheets and showed the man who delivered the clean bedding who profusely apologized about the housekeeping. When I went to entertain my son with a video online - we found we had to pay another $6.95 to have access to their wifi on top of the $8 we had to pay to park in their own parking lot. When we wanted to watch a movie, we ran down the hall to the vending for drinks (the water there tastes horrible) and we found much to our shagrin that every single option in the vending machine was out-of-order so my mom went to the front desk. She returned with two sodas and two M&M packs and was charged $11. Then, as we went to shower up and go to bed we noticed that there was literally black stains on the shower curtain where everyone apparently puts their hands to open the curtain. It obviously hadnt been washed in a very long while. And as the topper - before I laid my son down to sleep - I had to actually WASH HIS FEET because they were black from going barefoot on the carpet. Disgusting. This is a place where often sick people come to go to the Hospital and they didnt even vacuum? For how long?! And not washing baby crib sheets is just subpar. Beyond disgusted with the price and the serious lack of cleanliness of this Hotel.

We stayed at this hotel over the weekend for a wedding. For the price, it wasnt worth it. I though it was 180 for two nights, but it was actually 180 per night (I didnt reserve in time to get the wedding special). We got a single room with a king size bed, it was pretty comfortable, the cleaning staffwas friendly, but everything else kinda sucked. Youd think with everyone paying over 100 bucks per room per night, youd get some nicer ammenities, but no. It was clear that they had the cheapest cable/sattellite package they could get. The cheapest toilet paper, cheapest appliances as well. Our ironing board in the room was broken as well. Furthermore, its an extra 8 bucks a day for parking (no public parking), and another 7 or 8 dollars if you want internet connectivity in your room. Room service also isnt cheap, most dishes cost 10 and up. I think a bowl of cereal may cost like 6 bucks and they charged us 3 bucks for a glass of milk. Then on top of there is a 20% gratuity tax included. I know they had a buffet setup, and if I had to guess they probably charged for that as well. If I were you Id save money by going elsewhere, as I know for a fact there are other hotels that offer a better experience for nearly half the cost.

The caliber of Iowa City as a UNESCO "City of Literature" even reaches across the river here to Coralville, where an incredible gem of a library exists featuring Iowa Writers, including a full shelf of Pulitzer winners affiliated with Iowa Writers Workshop. Completely unexpected for a hotel. Gym, albeit somewhat cramped, does have the standard machines and also free weights and a cable machine. The history of the area, including the brownfield-to-greenfield nature preserve on the property are other unexpected bonuses in staying here. Gorgeous jogging/walking trail and reservoir walkways peppered with unexpected sculpture and literary references. Service staff is very Marriott--super friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. The property itself is also conveniently walkable to many great restaurants, a department store and a handful of shops. Also next door to local microbrewery, Back Pocket Brewery, fermenting and brewing within a chalkboard erasers throw from the front entrance of the hotel. The Coralville Marriott is at once: hotel, convention center, gourmet restaurant, natural center, archaeology exhibit, anthropological case study, library and contemporary sculpture garden.

I have never been motivated to write a hotel review before, but my visit to the Coralville Marriott has prompted me to do so. Everything about staying here was great. The front desk staff was very polite and accommodating, the room was very nice, and the hotel itself was very nicely appointed. My daughter loved the pool, even though it was a little cold for our liking. A special thank-you to the housekeeping supervisor for sending our daughters stuffed kitten "Pickles" to us after it was left in our room upon our departure. When I called and explained it was left, the supervisor asked for my number and said she would look for it and call me back. I expected her to take her time and wait for housekeeping to bring it back later in the day. Instead, I received a call less than 10 minutes later after she personally went to our room and retrieved it. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Coralville or Iowa City area. The location is very nice, the staff was incredible, and the hotel itself is great.

All around our experience was terrible. We blocked off rooms for our wedding, we got the confirmation (after 2 weeks of trying to get a confirmation) only to find out that our guests were trying to call to book rooms and being told there was nothing under our name. We were not told our block would close two weeks before our wedding, so guests trying to call the week before were being told the rate was $220 (our block was at a rate of $109). When we got to our room Saturday night our door was cracked open. The morning we were checking out (we only stayed one night) we gave a different card to be billed and the hotel billed BOTH of our cards and charged us for two nights. We received three separate bills from this hotel, all with different totals, and the most recent, charged us twice for parking and twice for sales tax (again, we were only there one night). Weve been waiting now all day for a call back and have heard nothing. Our guests also complained about how noisy the hotel was. All around a terrible experience.

We had a block of hotel rooms at the Coralville Marriott for our wedding, and I couldnt have been more happy with everything. From the get-go Brittney was incredibly helpful with options and getting back to me. There was a little mishap with a check-in date for myself and a friend and they got it corrected immediately when we went to check in. They handed out gift bags to all the guests (a lot of times these seem to be forgotten at other hotels). We needed some random things for getting ready like an extension cord and power strip, and they got them to us within the hour! We also did a morning after breakfast at the Edgewater Grille, and due to some management changes they had misplaced our reservation. We were worried wed have to make alternate plans, but they were *amazing*. They went and got tables and linens and set up the bar area for us immediately, apologizing the whole time. The food was great and the service was exceptional.
