Sadly I.had to retract my five star review due to the last four visits I had at this theater. Today really was the last straw when having to plan our day around the movie time in order to make it. It was the third Captain America installment and people were on their cell phones (which I asked all of them to STOP) and an out of control group of people in the back with their kids crying (which I asked them to take their crying kids out) which caused so much chaos nobody knew what was happening in the movie. Suddenly they were at a funeral and the theater goers didnt know why!! Our day was ruined (the only day I had) so we left. The theater was no able to rememburse the full amount of our tickets (which is from fandango which the theater actually does force us consumers to use) and said they could give us snack coupons for later use. Of course this offer was completely unacceptable and was rather insulting, but I could see the manager was serious and meant to disrespect. I later called and got another manager by the name of Steve who would end up repeating what I just told him back to me multiple times until he finally brought to my attention that these "managers" had no managerial authority! Im shocked by the was these businesses are ran here in portage and have had enough. But Im also very excited that I found a REAL IMAX not even 20 minutes away! So thats nice. :D So. If customer service means anything to you avoid this place.

Goodrich is the best of the theatre chains. They offer cheap all day prices on Tuesday, a very good free movie goer rewards program, and their drink refills are free no matter what size you buy, and the popcorn is only 25 cents to refill regardless of size. The Goodrich theatre I went to back in Peoria even got on trouble with the film studios for selling tickets for too cheap! This is the only chain that doesnt make me feel like theyre taking me for everything I own. This is also a very up to date theatre with nice stadium seating. The staff is always friendly and attentive. There is also no upselling. I live much closer to two AMC theatres, but I still drive 35 minutes each way to catch my major movie releases here.

Will i still like going to this place to see a movie, but what I didnt like that made me take away three stars is what I seen in the lobby a bar that sells beer why would you put a bar in a family setting were you can bring your kids to watch a movie ? I for one dont see anything good coming from this, but what I do see is that you are going to have someone in the movie theater drunk off their ass being all loud and unruly making it to were you cant enjoy watching the movie. And I also see that those poor police officers will now be too busy trying to keep the peace and taking the drunks to jail. But what away to make some exter money for portage 16 and the city of portage. Just saying what I see.

$33 for two to Star Wars IMAX 3D. Plus snacks , drinks & tolls made this a $50 date. Ok, it was Star Wars.... Reserved seating helpful. But 3rd row from the back was an issue. Was not completely immersed in the movie. The unnecessary lights on the walls were distracting for the first 1/3 of the movie. If I had known wall lighting was that bad, we would have gone elsewhere. Decor looked 90s, but not bad. Nachos were great value! Wow! And sodas appeared to be self-service free refills. Overall, not sure well go back for IMAX 3D, but generally nice place.

This is my all time favorite theater. There are several closer to me but I dont mind the half hour drive to this one because it is always clean and it is not a hang out spot for folks that dont care to see a movie. Ive been to several IMAX theaters and they are NOT all the same. This is the biggest screen Ive seen with the exception of maybe the one at Navy Pier. The Goodrich chain is friendly to independent filmmakers like myself so that is a major plus.

We went to see "The Forest" and sadly had to go to another theater to actually watch given sitting right behind us,was a teenager and her maybe 3-4 yr. old child that not only dumped its pop and popcorn on us (literally) but wouldnt stay quiet. I notified the manager and he absolutely didnt care. This was on a Friday night. Just the managers comments and how insensitive he was has helped us make an easy choice to NEVER go back.

Apparently if my parent buys a ticket for a rated R movie and walks up to the ticket holder and explains that she gives her consent for me to see the movie I still cant. Needs a better staff, sometimes they let me through for R movies and sometimes they dont, so obviously they dont have clear rules. Whats the difference between seeing a rated R movie and going home and watching a rated R movie thats on TV?

For this area the best theatre around. i quit going to michigan city when a single ticket, no matter time of day, jumped to 10.50 for one. portage won me over with their 6.50$ matinee. same quality seating, sound, and picture without the price. i dont eat concessions so this i cant comment on but its much more affordable to come here especially if you are paying for more than just yourself in tickets.

Former employee. People may complain about wait times and pricing, but dont take it out on the workers. They try their best. Can be very hectic and exhausting especially summer/weekends. As for the building, screens are excellent quality, nice lighting, and always adding to and upgrading options at the concession stand. Bar is also a nice addition, appears classy, not just thrown in for the heck of it.

It was a good theater with potential but the staff made it an unpleasant experience. We dealt with 3 staff members and each of them seemed so unpleasant. They all had the "i hate this job" face and did not smile once. You find out a lot about a business by the customer service and approach of the staff and sadly it was just a depressing feeling. Decent movie theater but everyone working seemed unhappy.

Love this place. We get a Couples special with 2 drinks and popcorn. Free refills on drinks, 50 cent (plus 4 cents tax) refills on popcorn. Get the FMG card (Frequent Movie Goer) and get yet another discount. Every ticket purchase is points on the card to then get free stuff. They clean the theater out after every showing. I went to another companys theater and I was so disappointed

Probably the best movie theater in Northern Indiana (and one of the few IMAX theaters). Fair prices, very clean and spacious, and great staff. Drinks are self-service refill stations, one for each side of the building, and theres no fee for popcorn seasonings (kettle, cheese, etc). They also offer seat reservation and ticket preordering for certain screens (IMAX and D-Box).
