i am a retired icrr engineer,we frequently stopped for ice cream and soda. the folks were very nice and friendly. it was an oasis in the long trip between waterloo and chicago. the dispatcher never questioned the delay on the hill,up or down the hill. i think they were very uncaring. this was the good old days. the store was so neat, wish id had more time to just browse. i may just drive over there for ice cream and a long visit, thanks for the memories..... duane k jobe council bluffs, iowa

We were out for a motorcycle ride through the country side checking roads we have not been on in a while. I stopped here to remove coat layers. That is when we meet the owners. After being invited in and spending time looking around we know now we have been missing a lot by not stopping before. We will be going back just to stop here and enjoy more of what they offer.

This place is amazing in so many ways! The owners are so welcoming and love to see everyone having a great time. Live music entertainment throughout the day with dancing in the barn or at times up close & personal in the store. Food & beverages available on both sites. We couldve stayed there forever! Not to easy to find a place like this!!!

An absolute gem! Good food, great atmosphere and rich history. The owner is courteous, and inviting. My wife and I got to chat with him and enjoy his skills on the piano while we had a hearty breakfast. I look forward to another trip and checking out one of the Sunday barn dances.

Council Hill is one of northwest Ils best kept secrets. Great people. Great country/bluegrass music live on Sundays. Been a while since I have been there but they have expanded there arms to anyone visiting the area. VVVeerrryyyyy cool place. Great riding. Froggy!
