If a bar were to be a person you would hang out with, then Id believe that d.b.a. would be that person who has great taste in music and in alcohol. The drinks were decently priced compared to the string of bars down Bourbon Street which nearly cost an arm and a leg. The service may have been slow, but there were two bartenders working that night and the place was actually quite busy for being so early in the evening. The music was fantastic! It wasnt overly loud, so I could still talk and be social with my friends who were there but still hear it above the chatter of the bar. I liked the fact that they had little nooks and crannies to sit, chat, and chill- it built up the atmosphere of what I envisioned a New Orleans "hole in the wall" music bar to be (but with a little more space than others). I was also pleasantly surprised that they served Absinthe, since it seemed no other bar in New Orleans that I had been to served it. Overall, the drink selection, music, staff, and atmosphere of the location was so attractive that had my friends not wanted to go elsewhere that evening, I would have stayed until the doors closed. The next time Im in town, this bar will be my "go to" spot.

It was the worst experience of my time here in New Orleans. The bartender was aggressive and rude to the point that everyone in our group was uncomfortable. She threatened to kick me out because I didnt order my drink fast enough rather than offering suggestions like a good bartender. She then made a horrible drink and proceeded to yell at me before I left staring that i was rude to her because I told her "no thank you, Im still looking," when she wanted me to order the first time. At that point I walked away. I would like to mention that everyone in our party except for two of us had already ordered and were enjoying the GREAT MUSIC. The music was great. The rest of the experience was inexcusable.

Touted as one of the few non-smoking live music/bar/eateries in Frenchman Street we may have spent some time and money here if not for the smart arse barmaid we encountered.Obviously she is an expert on the beer drinking habits of males in America. The worst service we experienced on our visit to New Orleans but we patronized nearly the rest of Frenchman Street during our 6 day visit. We rented our bikes at Michaels Bicycles, had breakfast at Cafe Rose Nicaud, went to The Maison twice for dinner and the Lebanese eatery Monas for a kebab but didnt spend one dime at d.b.a because of the snotty barmaid.Up yours d.b.a.Other folks we spoke to know of the rude barmaid who pushes customers away.

Im a very big fan of d.b.a in NY - both the Williamsburg and East Village locations are fantastic for those that love beer and a chill spot to enjoy them. The NOLA location did not disappoint. Surprising impressed by the cool demeanor of the whole place even on a crazed Halloween weekend. The selection of both liquor and beers on tap were excellent. The bartender was friendly enough and definitely tough should she needed to me. The space is unique to those in NY as theres much more room and a separate spot for live shows. This is worth the stroll outside the Bourbon Street mainstay should you seek to see more of NOLA.

Filthy & gross. I was going to remove a large cockroach that we found on the bar and captured (thanks to our friendly and awesome bartender). As I was walking outside the bouncers informed me that I would be charged $10 cover to come back in. When I told them it was to remove the roach without making a scene, they said "not our problem". I freed it inside the bar at the front door. Your problem now. We closed our tabs and left. Disgusted.

Would give less than a 1 star if I could.. The only thing going for them is the big bands they bring in. Front door staff ignorant and clueless. Bartenders all SUCK it took 27 min for 4 drinks. The SMELL IS BAD AS SOON AS YOU WALK IN. The only reason we stayed was because we were with a group and trying to see the band. MUSIC WAS AWESOME ALL BANDS SHOULD FIND A NEW VENUE. TO PLAY....

This place is an amazing, must get to place to see live music in Nola. The whole places atmosphere changes with the band thats playing. For something quiet and low key, see John Boutte. For some booty shaking dancing, see New Breed Brass Band. The great thing is, theyre probably both playing the same night. Drinks are expensive and there is often a cover, but its usually worth it.

Tuesdays for Treme brass band - remarkable set with the band really enjoying themselves and showing off their wonderful skills and talents. Cheap $5 entry but be prepared to give the band some cash as they truly deserve (I drank free tap water and have my money to the band instead!!). Disappointed that it was not even half full!

Come for the music, stay for the drinks. Not only will you probably get inches from some of the most talented acts in town, but the double sided bar offers anything that tickles your fancy. Amazing beer selection, and great local brews on tap too! As a wine drinker, I seriously loved the diversity at this venue.

Me and my girlfriend came to this bar to watch an authentic Jazz show. I first thought the $10 cover was a little too much until I listened the first song of the show. One of the best places you can be in NOLA. I fell in love with the Harp Lager they offer. I would totally come back to this place.

If youre an adult that isnt into the party scene, rubbing shoulders with a drunken monkey, being served by an amateur bartender, this is your place. Atmosphere is relaxing, the bartenders have been serving probably longer than Ive been living, and people arent stumbling around in a stupor.

We went here on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, and saw Walter "Wolfman" Washington and the Roadmasters. I was a great show and great atmosphere. Its a little off Bourbon Street, but well worth the walk. Great music, great beer, and only a $5 cover charge. Well worth it.

Great for catching live jazz or just chilling out. If you can snag a window booth on either side of the front door, its a great place to be able to talk with a small group while people watching the street over drinks and smokes. Great selection of beer and hard liquor.

The entertainment hang out D.B.A. Is a regular hot spot for producers, directors, actors and innovators of entertainment. Always worth the price of admission for live music the bar has Belgium beers on tap and hosts an array of beers from around the world.

While we had to pay a cover to get in, this was my second time going and it is always a blast to listen to live local music! I forget who was playing the night we went (some "Duke") but it was just relaxing to sit and listen to him and his band!

Fun place. Show up early because it gets crowded at French quarter on a busy weekend. We managed to snag a seat near the bar before the show. Drink is ok. Great music vibe. Not as packed is some other places so I had some space to breathe.
