This is my favorite (so far) of the Forest Preserves that are near me (Round Lake, IL). The trail is not too steep in any particular direction but not flat either, providing a good workout. Plenty of trees on the Northern section of the trail help cut out the traffic noise and hide the neighboring homes as well as provide some shade during your walk. Only downsides are the occasional idiots that dont pick up after their dogs or that use the trail as an ashtray. Plenty of older folks walking their dogs during the day help gives it a better feeling of safety. Be sure to try both the Northern and Southern sections of the preserve. The North entrance is off of Grand Ave, and the Southern is off of Monaville Rd. The Southern tends to be more popular and has more bicyclists and families, hence I prefer the Northern section.

This is a nice place to go for a short hike. This place is split between a north and south section with the South being mostly wet land and the north being wooded. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars is that its a crushed limestone trail and I find dirt or wood chip to be a nicer material to hike on

(really long trail and parking) great for running or biking. No picnic areas. For picnic youre going to have to go to the Nippersink forest preserve 3 miles south No fishing lakes... Again, for fishing Nippersink is best.

This is one of the best little preserves we have in the local area. Plenty of trails! Views of rolling hills and slight forest like areas. Excellent scenery.

A little hidden gem. Didnt even know it was around until taking photos here while in a wedding party. A pretty area for a walk.

One of my favorite places to ride my bike, often seeing a deer or to around dusk. A good mix of shaded and prairie areas.

Great spot for outdoor activities. Nice fishing pond, but it gets overgrown with water lillies
