It is 2008, as I write. I just finished a walk among the flowers and pines of this garden. Much of this space is lovely, open garden. It is well maintained. Part of the garden consists of native species, interspersed with ornamental plantings. Numerous well-maintained, yet unmarked, trails lead through this area, as well as an area of completely native plants. This part of the garden is wildly beautiful and you get the feeling you could almost get lost. However, the garden is too small to really get lost, and bounded along one side by a wide shallow creek and gravel road that take the visitor right back to the garden entrance. There are lots of birds and squirrels to observe, as well as turtles, small fish, and at least one red rat snake. In addition, the garden staff are working assiduously to bring the Japanes Garden to fruition.

Absolutely beautiful selection of fauna. Very well manicured grounds and for 5 bucks you cant beat the price for the quality of experience you will have walking around and enjoying the natural beauty it all. There is a garden market place past the parking lot that sells a good variety of plants including water Lilies and seasonal varieties.

The Gardens are a wonderful, peaceful way to pass a morning or afternoon any time of year. There are great collections of azaleas and Camellias, as well as a Pollinator Garden and nature trails. There are also public trails in the Longleaf Pine Forest off the parking lot that is accessible from sun up to sun down.
