I spent a longer time here than I thought I would. Staffed by friendy, outgoing people ready to try and answer any and every question, the displays are curated into small chunks of history and timeline, Mainly concentrating on local civil war, railroad, and RR Chase history, you are taken on a path that feeds it to you in bite sized chunks. The masterpiece being at the end of the tour. I grew up with Disney, Fess Parker, and adventure. And the General, it turns out, was REAL...and here it is...

Home of "The General", the great locomotive chase engine, this museum makes history fun. The kids were enthralled, and the adults had an equally good time. This museum has great information about steam engines and how they were made, with life sized dioramas. They have a well-produced and acted movie about the great locomotive chase, without making a political statement. All in all a great time, and one I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in the civil war or trains.

Great way to spend the afternoon, or a rainy day! Really clean, handicap accessible and affordable. Their military discount was more than most places too. Another thing I noticed was the sensory sensitive afternoons; they are the last Tuesday of each month from 2:00pm-5:00pm. I thought that was a really great idea and have seen a lot of the more progressive places doing the same!

See the General. The locomotive that started the great locomotive chase. Its beautiful and excellently maintained. The civil war collection here is wonderful. Also the train displays are great. This place is really nice, larger than it looks. Great for kids and adults. If you havent been here and you like history or trains, this is a must.

Excellent Mommy & Me program for preschoolers with enthusiastic teachers. We love Mr. Chris who is very engaging. The program is well planned and well executed and makes a family membership worth every penny. We also enjoy the museums annual Trains, Trains, Trains event, and my son enjoys seeing The General every time we visit.

Was really stunned to read the description for one of the confederate statues in the lobby. Among many things it mentioned that this man was a leader in the KKK. To immortalize a man with these values and place this statue in the museum is reprehensible. As a visitor to Kennesaw, it was very disturbing.

A great museum of both Civil War history and the railroads throughout the Georgia. A year membership is well worth it if you have kids since theyll love going here again and again. Great childrens area and interactive exhibits. Also a good place to have a kids birthday party

Seeing "The General" locomotive was great. Lovely Museum. Teared up at some of the war memorabilia. Didnt see the "Venus" statue donated by France. Forgot to ask about it before I left. Fun for children also apparently. Had a nice visit.

Fantastic museum. Be sure to take enough time to read the display descriptions. Great insights on the economies of the North and the South, their divisions and the logistics of the subsequent war.
