Dear Cincy Art Museum, I have always enjoyed your exhibits. The variety and exceptional quality of your collections bring me back regularly. I also love your traveling exhibits. Last night I attended your Art after Dark festivities. I was very pleased to have the opportunity to view your collections, particularly the visiting exhibit about Tom Wesselmann. I was also excited that you had such a great beer selection with excellent “black Friday happy hour” Fridays. However, I was appalled that there are ZERO recycling bins in your museum. I wanted to recycle my beer can. I couldn’t do it at your institution. Your waste bins were full of aluminum and glass. When I asked staff why you don’t have recycling bins I received two responses: 1. We should recycle, and 2. You can’t recycle glass and aluminum (!). Yes, you definitely should recycle and yes you can most certainly recycle these items. Our city makes it very easy to do so. All that is needed is dedicated bins for mixed materials (paper, plastics, bottles and cans) and the city will pick these up for your institution. It is irresponsible for you to not make the right choices in terms of waste disposal. Demonstrating to your visitors that you don’t care about recycling suggests you don’t care about our planet’s future. As an institution, you act as a role model for your visitors. By making some small adjustments to help dispose of waste properly by setting up recycling (and perhaps even green bins), you can improve your environmental footprint as well as the impression you give your visitors.

The Cincinnati Art Museum is beautiful and has stunning collections. It had been about a year since Id last visited so I was really looking forward to exploring the galleries, especially the human altered landscapes photography exhibit. What I found so shocking was how loud the museum was, even on a slow Friday afternoon. For some reason, those in attendance feel the need to shout their opinions, answer phone calls, laugh and giggle, etc. I suppose the "inside voice" from grade school is lost on them. But what makes this worse is I heard three different museum employees on three different occasions engage in this kind of behavior, one of whom came parading into the human altered landscapes exhibit and proceeded to literally yell to the museum guest he was talking to. Its totally fine to talk in a museum, but why people act like they are at a concert and need to be heard over the music I will never understand. Suffice to say, its difficult to read the captions and reflect on the art when a persons voice is reverberating constantly across the room. Its not that hard to talk at a normal, respectful volume! It was a disappointing visit, for the Cincinnati Art Museum is truly gorgeous and one of my favorite places to take friends who are visiting from out of town. I havent witnessed this kind of behavior at the Taft so Ill just assume it was an off day for the museum.

I am pretty much in love with this place.... $4 for parking, but then admission is free. Take that however you want it, but its worth it. For the longest time I always went to Dayton for their art museum, and then stepping back into this place, made me question my stupidity. Im a lover of early century European art (Monet and Renoir especially), and goodness does this place deliver! So many time periods and so many different artists, both famous and not so to non art majors. Their specials exhibits are nice and new, and different every time they have one. Its not your typical, this wing is made for specials and well charge you, its just stuff on the wall in a big room. No. Ok sometimes its like that, but not always. Right now they have a more modern art them going on on the 2nd floor that starts out on the balcony, and then goes to some exhibit wings. And is rather... interesting to say the least. I have always found it worth it even when they have a separate charged special, that it has always been worth it. This place can get a little crazy on Family Day weekends, and when theyre having their kids programs, so if you really want your own experience I suggest checking their website or giving them a call. If youre wandering around Eden Park anyways, its always worth a stop in the art museum.

My fiance and I spend 4 weeks working with an event planner. Would highly not recommend using this place for events. Not only did we show up for our appointment just to get stood up the volunteer at the front entrance was not very pleasant and yelled at me for having a water bottle. It took weeks for responses, one of the event managers quit, and another told us that she would highly recommend that we NOT have our wedding there b/c the management was solely focused on money. I spoke with a supervisor and she told us we werent a "good fit" as we were making too many requests. What a waste? 8 weeks of going back and forth for absolutely nothing! We opted to have the wedding reception somewhere else and are truly happy. The new location, Marriott Kingsgate Cincinnati, has bent over backwards for us and treat us like were special...after all...its the biggest day of our lives! The Marriott has a beautiful courtyard, contemporary ballroom and the chef is amazing! A beautiful museum but customer is never first.

I was an out-of-towner looking for some fun in the northern kentucky / cincinnati area and this was perfect! First, the museum (and parking!) is free to all visitors, so the barrier to entry is very low. We showed up, looked for a parking space for a while, and were able to go in and immediately start enjoying their large selection. I should note, on Thursday the museum has extended hours until 8pm, so its perfect for an after work stroll. As for the collection itself, its stellar! There was a Van Gogh special exhibit and another special exhibition of Kentucky photography while I was there and both were well put together. The permanent collection is well organized and presented and I want to go back to give each gallery my time. With such a varied collection of art, theres something for everyone. This paired with the (nonexistent) cost of admission, everyone should stop by this museum when theyre in the area!

I dont want to be that guy but I cant actually rate 5 stars. Its free which is awesome and I love coming here because of it but they currently have carpet on display... Not a fancy carpet. Im talking normal brown carpet that got pulled out of a horders house that never cleaned.. Art.. I asked a "exibit guard" why it was on display and his response was "Hell if I know" which I found awesome. There was a painting I took a picture of because it was something my wifes kindergarten class could finger paint and recreate. Ill post it here. This is really really stupid art and impresses no one. Then one was a black square... Thats it. I wish i would have got a pic of the carpet. Museum this art is stupid and is in no way impressive. I would give you better art to put on display if your in desperate need.

The Cincinnati Art Museum is a Defiant Treasure for the Art Lover with an Eclectic Collection that Rivals and in certain aspects Surpasses the far better known Museums in Chicago and New York. Rivaling in as much as Cincinnati has its claim to the Greats such as Renoir and Van Gogh but Surpassing in as much as Local Treasures such as World Renowned "Rookwood Pottery" and Eclectic Artistic Works in everything from Industrial Machinery and Linen to P&G Advertising and Appalachian Folk. Speaking from the perspective of Someone who isnt an Artist and is far from an Art Scholar I Like what I Like whether its Classical Paintings and Sculpture or Graffiti and Tattoo Flash which is another reason I Love Our Museum because it truly offers something for everyone.
