I hope the Starlight 6 Drive in Management actually sees this post. I moved to ATL in 2010. MY FAVORITE THING I found down here was the drive in. shortly after moving down I had 2 boys, one of which is AUTISTIC and can have random outbursts so the drive in is perfect because you dont have to worry about bothering people with things like kids being kids. In the past few years, when the owners or management switched over, I noticed a lot of changes, most of which arent great for business. We used to enjoy the military discount, as my husband is a Vet, but they no longer offer that. Thats Fine, we said, since we can still see two movies for the price of one. Then the prices went up. And then they closed down the other side (Screens 4-6) so now, the same amount of people on a friday night, are fighting for spots between 3 screens. The screens, especially screen 1, (we go to the drive in QUITE OFTEN) needs repainting. There are rust streaks running down the screen and can seriously mess with the overall picture, and screen one seems out of focus. The movie options are VERY LIMITED which doesnt make sense, since they have 3 other screens and now movies that should be, in my opinion, being played longer (more weekends in a row) but arent. Like right now, NO KIDS MOVIES BEING PLAYED, but storks JUST CAME OUT..... youre playing scary or R rated movies on the one side, got a WHOLE other side closed down and could be putting kids movies over there. If you dont want to open the 2nd concession, then Dont, just make the bathrooms available and keep the concessions closed. Movies that are cinema hits, are getting shown for short periods of time, when you switch the movies over, put the older ones over there. SOMETHING. This was a long over due complaint that I am just now getting to, so SORRY its so long. Im making complaints, BUT SUGGESTIONS TOO. Military discount.... sounds stupid..... but when we use to go with our friends, there would be us and other cars with Military guys in them....who doesnt feel safer knowing you have military personnel near by. Doesnt even have to be the original $1. Maybe half price, or a few bucks less, maybe just every other weekend, week nights only SOMETHING. This is marketing 101. You have screens, utilize them. You are located near military bases, in the SOUTH SIDE OF ATL ON MORELAND AVE..... No military dicount..... thats like QUICK TRIP offering free coffee all day for cops, because they welcome their presence. (maybe not these days, but back when they made us feel safe) You raise the prices and then cut the number of movies available... Please repaint. please open up the other screens. please offer something to those whole serve/served this country. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

This drive in is pretty cool. Its my usual go to date night when I just want to chill without getting all dressed up. PROS, youre in your own car and you can bring snacks, alcohol, and you can smoke (even thought thats kinda rude). Also you get 2 movies for the price of 1. How great and its only 9 bucks for adults and 1 for kids. CONS, they could use an upgrade, it has kind of an older vibe but hey, were not here for the decorations so thats not really relevant. They need to trim the trees because theyre growing and blocking some of the screen. Its kinda distracting. They really need lot patrol. No one is patrolling the lot so people do whatever. Some cars keep their headlights on and it shines at the screen and it creates a glare. Jerks! There are some visitors who are just plain rude and have their trunks open and want to park in the front, um helloooo... we cant see the screen idiots. Then sometimes, on weekends, people want to play music and listen to other movies on their radios and it blaring from their cars. Other than that, Ive always had a great experience. WARNING, arrive at least 20 mins before start time to get tickets and get a good spot and snacks and stuff. If you arrive right at start time, the line gets pretty long and youre going to miss the beginning of the movie. Also, dont try to call ahead, they never ever answer the phones. And please have your money ready and know what movies you want to watch, this keeps it moving along. Have fun and enjoy your movie!

Unfortunately, there has been a management change since last year. The gates no longer open 1.5-2 hours before the show. The scheduled opening time has been reduced to 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the day of the week. Thats the scheduled opening time, but theyre sometimes late getting the gates open. Gone are the evenings when you could get there early, socialize with friends, have a picnic, or grill a hot dog. With the delayed opening, it takes all that much longer for cars to find a spot and settle in. This means that you miss the start of the movie if you are in the back of the entrance line, or you are bothered by all the cars getting in late because the opening time has been cut back so drastically. All new employees, and no knock on them necessarily, but we had come to know some of the old employees. It seems there was a house cleaning when the new management came in. Concession stands are poorly stocked and the lot itself is not cleaned very well each day. The Starlight has gone from 5 stars to 1 star or less in a single season. Dont waste your time.

I was going to give it a few tries before I left a review but tonights incident has changed my mind. This drive-in is like any other. I love them and was happy to find one in the Atlanta area. With an opportunity to stand out, they failed with customer service. I realized when I got to my car that I hadnt put enough butter on our popcorn. I went back and asked the older Hispanic guy for one of the little cups that they put jalapenos in so I could put a little butter in it and he refused to give me one. I was baffled. So I told him not to worry about it and Id get something from my car to put some in. When I returned, it was no surprise that he was no longer behind the counter but "cleaning" by the butter machine. I watched as he lied to another customer who was trying to put butter on his popcorn and said that the machine wasnt working...the same machine that 2 minutes prior was working just fine. Poor customer service and from here on out when I come, Ill be sure to bring my own snacks!

I visited the starlight theatre with my boyfriend while we were visiting Atlanta. Its not much to the theatre. You get to watch 2 movies for $9 and we went in a Sunday. It was pretty crowded and as a first time visitor I got lost. The labeling of the screens is non existent and we sat for a while at the wrong screen before asking others where to go. There is a small concession area with normal movie goer snacks which was nice to have. It draws more of an urban crowd so expect some smoking and loud music prior to the movie beginning. Overall, it was an okay experience. Our first movie started at 9:30 so by the time the second movie started, it was midnight and we were ready to go to bed. I would suggest bringing chairs and if you want some privacy, something to cover your windows.
