The Plaza has its advantages and disadvantages. Positives: - Only place in town that plays certain indie genres, especially horror, sci-fi, etc. - Classic, historic theater has been beautifully restored - Comfortable seats - Reasonable-ish ticket prices Cons: - Management has been heavily criticized for various gaffes, poor online presence and attitude issues. - Several beloved film series such as Splatter Cinema were driven away. - It must be said, but the popcorn just isnt very good (minor quibble) Whether you attend, then, really is a factor of how much the reputation of the management means to you vs. how much the programming matters. Things here can be run rather haphazardly, and theyve certainly done some stupid things, but I ultimately dont see how you could choose not to support the theater. Theres not a viable alternative that offers a similar experience and shows the same kinds of movies. Ive seen many things there in the last 8 months that I wouldnt have been able to see anywhere else. Perhaps if there was another grand old movie palace showing indie films I wouldnt go to the Plaza quite so much, but as is, its a business that movie-lovers should be patronizing if you want to see these kinds of films making it to local Atlanta theaters.

This is one of the last places in Atlanta to see big movies on a big screen. (Watching Kubricks 2001 here was a real pleasure.) Be aware that, while one of the screens here is wide and grand, the others are relatively small. Indie flicks are often shown upstairs on a smaller screen (the old balcony, converted into a smaller second theatre). If you see a classic movie advertised, you might call ahead and check whether its playing downstairs (hooray!) or upstairs (boo!). Well-attended regular showings of Rocky Horror keep the doors open, making it possible for all of us to "do the Time Warp" and see movies as they were meant to be seen. Recommended.

This place is NOT handicapped accessible! I went there to see a movie and it was showing up on the second floor. There was no access to the limited engagement film showing. Why would someone show a limited engagement film on the second floor without access for all patrons?! No elevators, nothing! I called several days and at different times before hand to check about access and no one answered. This is a public theater! Horrible experience!!!

Where else in ATL can you throw plastic spoons and yell profanities in a public place?? Trust me -- go for a cheap viewing of “The Room”on the last Tuesday of every month. Bring plastic spoons, a couple of friends, a good sense of humor. On Fridays the Plaza puts on the live and extremely entertaining Rocky Horror Picture Show. PLUS, if youre hungry after the show, you can stumble over to the Majestic for some greasy, late-night diner food.

My first time going to the theater was on a Friday night for a showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Despite its age, this theater is kept in great condition. The staff was courteous and friendly, drinks were great, and the theater was very clean... especially the bathrooms. The performance was excellent. The performers blended in hilarious comedy with the show and it all made for a wonderful experience.

A wonderful filmgoing experience. The remodeling over the years successfully merges history with modern cinema expectations (ie. digital projection, a full bar). The Plaza is apparently the oldest running theatre in the Atlanta area. The friendly staff and enthusiastic patrons will seemingly ensure it keeps the aforementioned title. I will definitely keep the location in mind for future arthouse releases.

Ive seen many shows in this theater over the years. Its a beautiful, historic theater, but a bit small. Although they added new restrooms with numerous stalls, it still seems insufficient as the lines can get long during intermission. I do appreciate that they have been able to bring top Broadway shows over the years, and watching a show in...

Went to the Plaza for a Farm Burger movie event and fell in love. The old, classic style is super romantic and tons of fun. They have a snack bar, a real bar, and plenty of comfortable seats to enjoy the show. Street parking is free after 7pm during the week days.

First time tonight. I love this old theater... There is something really special about it. I had a very strong haunted feeling, that there are some old movies goes there who just didnt leave. Would love to know the history of this place.

I was at the theatre several times during the Atlanta Film Festival and I throughly enjoyed the Plaza Theatre. The seats were so comfortable the staff was incredible. I will be returning to the Plaza again this week. Thank you.

Tons of fun--check out their midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, or their 9pm showing on the last tuesday of the month of the Room. Truly a classic theater and one of the most fun things to do around atlanta.

Ya, so how is that you dont have a working phone line with someone answering calls?? Your local listed number is no longer in service and the other line is a New York number that goes straight to voicemail.

Love this little theater. My first visit was during the 2017 ATL Film Festival. I like the seating and classic look. It appears to have been well kept over the years and is a nice place to see movies.

A live Rocky Horror Picture Show while the movie is playing. The show is great, lots of audience participation. The theater is such a gem. Recently replaced all the seating with reclining seats.

I really like this theatre. Its old and something different from all the modern ones. The only issue is that they need to have some height different for each row even though the seats are new.

This is how an old school theater should be restored. Step back in time with this classic movie theater that has wonderful staff and interesting concessions, oh and a full bar!

Best theater in the city. Special events almost daily. Screenings of your favorite movies every month (if not every week). Fun snacks. Great local support. Go to The Plaza.

One of Atlantas last landmarks in the theater world. Great place to see any movie. Not much parking, but youre in the city. Walk a little. Love this place. A+

Great films shown old and new. Cult stuff for those who like that. A bar! Trendy but in a hip way. Shows indie films, too. Local. Support the neighborhoods.

The production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show that gets put on every Friday night at midnight is not to be missed, any week of the year.

Love visiting the Plaza! Bar is nice, staff is friendly and they are always having events and hosting local filmmakers. Atlanta staple!

As close as Atlanta has to a movie palace (aside from the Fox). Movies dont stay long, so dont put off seeing the ones that you want to.

Whenever I tell people about where to go in Atlanta, two places are at the top of the list. 1. Clermont Lounge 2. Plaza Theatre.
