I read the reviews posted here on Google and I can only assume that they were written by golfers who played the course during its 2004-2006 transition to American Golf Corp., or who dont play golf very often. Yes, this a very inexpensive course ( $7 weekdays to city residents). Yes, its short, unpretentious, and welcoming to beginners. However, this is a true test of golfing skill with small, hard greens (maintained daily) and scruffy lies when you miss the fairway. There are dramatic elevation changes and punishing undulations that must be accounted for on every shot. More akin to a Scottish links course than an American muny, Candler offers the option of rolling it onto every green. The signature 9th hole is a long, narrow, uphill par 3 with trouble on both sides. With that finish, I must say there is a chance that you could leave with as sour a taste as some of these reviewers. However, a good round on this par 31 little monster has been cherished by golfers since the 1920s.

Great course for what it is. Its close, cheap and fun. Its also a great course to dial in your irons. Most of the holes are short enough to tee off with an iron. Fair Warning, the prices on their website are old. With the student discount and a pull cart I paid $15. A little too much for what it is.

This is a great course if you want to play for cheap. If you are a student a round will cost you less than $10. It is a relatively short par 31 course that is helpful to work on your mid-range irons. You can usually play the full 9 holes in under 2 hours if it is not too busy.

Candler Park Golf Course is a beautiful and challenging walk at the heart of the spirit of golf. Its not overly designed, manicured or manufactured. Its a beautiful plot of earth with 9 holes carved into it. I enjoy this course more than any other in the Atlanta area.

Enjoyable short course (9 holes) in a relaxed atmosphere in town. Great for the kids to play some holes and just long enough for them to finish without being worn out. Great if youre not a frequent golfer or just have a short time open to play.

If you need a quick nine this is the perfect place. Under $10 during the week, dont be fooled it is not a pushover.

A course worth playing. One of the few 9 hole courses left in Atlanta. Nicely maintained.
