The staff and volunteers are wonderful! They enjoy teaching on the few exhibits that were available. I must say this museum is VERY SMALL, with about 7 different displays/tanks of marine life (i.e. artificial reefs, Sting ray tank, small sea turtle tank, 3 large tanks of various fish and eel) all in a large room. The Sting Ray tank where they allow you to touch the sting rays were a hit with my 2 year old and the opportunity to touch a non-venomous snake as well. The enclosed outside boardwalk; has an area where you can view the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation project and see a few gigantic sea turtles. Unfortunately, there was not much information displayed on how they caught or found the individual turtles or anyone to speak about that area (when I visited). The Bird Sanctuary was good--once again a small area. However, I did love the 2 American Bald Eagles they had and 3 hawks, 3 various owls. A small, but interesting display of amazing birds. The cost of admission really is like giving them a donation. Its so cheap, only $5 for an adult and I believe $2 for children. Was it worth the money? Yes!

Its a decent place for kids and to learn, very educational. Staff is nice and friendly, they feed the animals in front of you and give you an interesting talk. It gets kind of crowded and hot, the space its extremely small for people to walk around and bump into each other. They definitely should have capacity control by certain hours. The place takes like at least one hour and a half to just see and walk around. So capacity control could be worked out in order to enjoy it more. It was extremely uncomfortable with so much people this is the only overwhelming compliant and the stars I didnt rate. Other than this its a cute and small place I would recommend, its worth it to learn and see the care these people are giving to perserve the environment with so little resources. The price its worth but it should stay that way unless more things are added and its ok. The turtle hospital should have a tour guide to explain more about what they do there, maybe I missed the tour idk. Dont miss the free donation bird sanctuary in your left side before entering the marine center.

Visited the Center in October 2013 and what a delightful experience, It is a working rehabilitation facility for sea turtles and seabirds...so dont go expecting spectacular photo opportunities. Sea turtles are visible in their rehab area from a large viewing window to avoid much contact with humans...however, non-releaseable stingrays are available for touching in the upstairs area! Display tanks of native fish, turtles and coral are immaculate and so beautiful and there are lots of educational ops available for the young and young at heart. The staff is enthusiastic and kind and so willing to answer questions. The Marine Science Center is a hidden gem that should not be missed if you are a nature lover visiting the area!

My children loved feeding and petting the rays. They also loved being able to ask the staff questions. Shannon was absolutely wonderful and really took the time to explain things to my children at levels they understand. Then, they got the added joy of seeing the octopus playing! They were so excited to see that as well as being able to hold all the sea urchins and sea cucumbers. They were really excited to see the not very full sea turtle hospital because that means there arent a lot of sick or injured turtles! We are already planning another visit. This place is wonderful for teaching conservation and care. I highly recommend it!

This place is beautiful in the since of what they do for injured/sick marine life! The staff is great and so much knowledge. I took my one year young here to break up a rainy day. He was free and I was only $5. He loves fish. All the tanks are at his height to see, he bounced from aquarium to aquarium so excitedly. There is a octopus in a tank that plays ball, so fascinating. The touch sting ray tank is fun, just keep a eye on the little ones so the pacifier doesnt end up with taking a swim. We will be purchasing a pass to continue to learn from this facility. There website is full of details. Enjoy

My wife and I visited the Marine Science Center on August 5th, 2011. We were quite disappointed in that the birds are behind small meshed wire - making photographs impossible. The turtle sanctuary is not accessible to the public - making photographs impossible. The only actual close-up photo opportunities are in the gift shop where the small exhibits are located for the children. Cost:$10.00 for two people. My advise: lower your expectations and consider your admission fee a donation. If you have small children they will enjoy the touch pool and the hands on educational room.

Wish i could rate it lower not because of the science center but because these people act like they are trying to save animals but i called them today to report a bird that had fishing wire around its mouth and was struggling and they directed me to animal control !!?? no one likes dealing with animal control...well they showed up ran after the bird for about 5 mins then said well if he can fly he is okay? well i was complaining about the wire being around his mouth not his wing or foot. not to mention the person who answered the phone was awful and did not care at all.

Great for a family outing on a rainy day in Daytona! My six year old son really enjoyed the exhibits and marine life on display! Really a great attraction for any day. It is a small place but for the price and experience it was worth it. Dont expect a huge science center tho, which is what we like. Small, friendly, fun, and educational is what this place is about. Very friendly and informative staff attentive to your every question around each corner ensures you to leave learning something new! Six thumbs up here!

Superstar Melissa Ranly and her team get down and dirty to help rescue, rehabilitate, and administer life-saving care to local animals in this undersized facility. It may not be the best place for a photo op for the casual tourist, but if you support compassionate people doing meaningful things with limited resources to better the community and the environment...come check out the Marine Science Center. You will leave with a little extra knowledge and love in your heart.

We took our 3 great grandchildren there today & they learned alot about how much you all care for so many sea critters. Your work is most greatly appreciated. Also the use of a wheelchair was so helpful for my husband. The volunteer even took him to our car while I had his walker. Thank you all. Well be back.
