Last night I attended The Fish House with a group of friends and the experience that we had was completely appalling. I have never received such awful customer service from a restaurant in my life, not to mention the complete and utter disrespect that my party and I received. When we arrived there for dinner, we were in high spirits but that all changed rather quickly. After being seated, the waitress came out to our table, and we ordered drinks and oysters, which came in a reasonable time frame, but everything went down hill from there. One of the girls in our party was not having oysters, and she was ready to order her meal before the rest of us, so she wouldnt just be sitting there staring at us while we were eating. However, the waitress completely disregarded that fact that she was ready to order on several occasions. Finally, after we all ordered our meals, five out of the six dinners came out in about a half hour but then when the last one came out it was wrong. I had ordered lobster tails in a garlic sauce with a side of corn on the cob and tostones. The food that was brought out was shrimp in a garlic sauce and no sides. I obviously told the waitress that the food was wrong and she said that they would remake it. Additionally, one of the meals was missing a side as well, but at that point, we did not even say anything because the restaurant was very hectic and we were hungry. So I sat patiently waiting for my food as everyone else ate their dinners. An hour later, there was still no dinner for me. Everyone was finished eating, and some were even in a rush to leave, but I havent even received the food yet. At that point, I was a little aggravated, so I got up and went to speak to the manager (from my understanding her name was Chairo) who didnt even acknowledge me and the fact that there was an issue at our table. She just stood there a nodded her head. She then went to speak to our waitress, and they told me the food would be coming out shortly. Another 30 minutes went by, and the food never came. Two people in our party wanted to pay their bill and get to-go boxes, which took an incredible amount of time as well. I again asked to speak to the manager at which point she was just completely ignoring me and rolling her eyes. Then I again asked the waitress where my food was, and she said that she had canceled the order since she heard me saying that I did not even want it anymore. First off, I was telling that to my friends amongst my table and never to her so I do not understand why she would cancel the order without speaking to me and basing her decision off of eavesdropping. Still, no manager at this point and the waitress is completely flustered and has lost touch with reality and messing everything up, including the checks that we told her were going to split in a particular manner. What do you know, still no dinner for me though? At that point, I told the waitress to tell the manager that I was not paying for my meal. The manager never came to the table to offer us a round of drinks or even an apology and acted completely unprofessional. Almost two and a half hours later I received my lobster tails without the sides I had ordered. The waitress said they were coming out but as predicted they never came, and I, unfortunately, got up and left to eat somewhere else. I will never be returning to this restaurant, and I am disgusted with how my party and I were treated. To top it off, right before my friend was exiting the building the waitress had the nerve to tell her that she would have to cover the difference in the bill for the meal that I refused to pay for because of the lack of hospitality and respect that I received. Lastly, the icing on the cake was when I was standing outside, and another family had walked out and said that they never received their food and waited for over an hour and now are going home hungry. Word of advice, stay away unless they get new management!! P.S. If I could leave 0 stars I would, as this place does not even deserve the one star!!

I have been here a few times to have a drink or listen to live music, but this is the first time Ive eaten here, and now arent I the fool? Yes! The food ROCKS. Heres why: * Gator Bites - Tony was thoroughly impressed. They were well tenderized prior to serving and very satisfying! * The Cracked Conch - one of my favorites. Despite the fact that this place does a high volume in fried fare and that these were fresh from the fryer, the conch flavor came through fresh, loud and clear so I appreciate that they clearly rotate fry oil with the frequency. #SCORE! Fresh, rustic, delicious! * Tuna Tartar. WOW. This dish (thank you Angela!) was MY FAVORITE! It really left an impression with everyone in our 5-person raiding party. Fresh, raw, tasty, made to order, and tossed in a proprietary blend that includes lime, soy, a hint of ginger a lil garleeek. WOW again. Must try. Lightly dusted with sesame seeds. * Smoked Fish Dip - It came highly recommended from the New Times and CBS and who knows whom else. Im a bit of a smoked fish expert. I found this to be creamy, it tastes like it is made with cream cheese but it really just mayo, it is fine and smooth with a spreadable consistency - made daily with mainly with mahi mahi and tilapia, never with shellfish, simple and awesome. I want more. #SCORE! * Fish Croquettes - Excellent and fresh, they made me a fan even though Im not generally into croquettes. * Lobster Bisque - I didnt try it, but I heard perfect-hair Rodney moaning as he inhaled his serving, so I assume it was awesome. * Fresh Oysters - The side sauce was super fresh, I like the hint of lime, mine wouldve benefited from more horseradish but still delish! * Awesome proprietor! Angela and Jose rock! Excellent service. Excellent music. Maverick Music was in the house and they come highly recommended too, because the back room was packed with an awesome vibe, awesome crowd, lots of good energy, hugs, and laughs. Highly recommended! Cabeza OUT!

Ive been living in the area since 1990. The Fish House opened in 1995 and I was looking forward to trying it. I did in 1996 for lunch. Today I went back for lunch to try it again after hearing people ( including my mother) talk about how good it was. My wife and me along with another couple that has a similar anniversary date will get together and try a different restaurant around town that we havent been to. We havent made it yet because of business scheduling issues between us. Business has been good. Todays lunch was interesting. I was talking to the waitress about the soups. She recommended the "Fishermans" soup. She asked if I liked calamari. I said I do. She kept going on as to how good the soup is and that shes not actually a soup person but she loves this one. So I ordered it. Before the soup came as she was making her rounds to other tables I asked, does the Fishermans soup actually has fish in it? She said it does. Well, it doesnt. It has calamari, mussels, clams, two or three shrimp, onions tomatoes, cilantro and another type leaf seasoning. I let her know its not what I expected. I went ahead and had some of the calamari and veggies that were in the broth. I mostly consumed the broth. It was good. It was served in a nice large bowl steaming hot. But for $16.00, I would have expected a soup with some higher quality ingredients in it. Maybe some actual fish? Earlier I mentioned my first visit in 1996 lunch. Similar experience. I ordered the sandwich. Cant remember if it was grouper, snapper or dolphin on the menu that day. When it was served, I noticed a tiny piece of fish on a large bun. When I mentioned it to the waiter, the response wasnt good. I ate the fish and smoked fish dip, paid and left. I dont fault the waitress for pushing me on the soup, shes a good sales person.
