PLEASE REALIZE THAT POPCORN PARK ZOO AND THE HUMANE SOCIETY ON SITE ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS! PLEASE RATE THE HUMANE SOCIETY IN THE PROPER PLACE. POPCORN PARK ZOO DOESNT HAVE ANY ADOPTION PROGRAMS. MOST OF THE ANIMALS ARE ILLEGAL TO OWN AND SOME ARE THERE FOR THAT VERY REASON. Wonderful place that rescues livestock, exotic, and wildlife too. Every animal there was either rescued from illegal ownership, neglect, abuse and/or zoos that didnt want/couldnt care for them. This is an incredible nonprofit rescue organization. These animals survive based on donations, hence visitors have to be careful of what they write. You cannot adopt anything from the Popcorn Park Zoo. The Humane Society has a shelter next door sharing the land. Theyre completely separate organizations! The Humane Society is funded by the state at the county level. That makes them bound by the health departments standards established by the state in order to receive funding. I tried to volunteer there and was required to be certified and take all of these classes, but I didnt quite have that much time. They were rude, but they are strictly regulated by these standards some of which are very misguided. It must be depressing to see great families denied for no reason that endangers the animals, and therefore the animal goes back to death row. With this in mind, please dont fault the Popcorn Park Zoo for bad experiences of the Humane Society. I loved PPZ as a child, shared with my youngest sister, my niece, and now my daughter. This place is wonderful for the animals and families to learn and create memories together while supporting a great cause. Please make sure that you rate the zoo and not the shelter. These animals depend on the number of visitors, and if enough people just go off of ratings and read the reviews for the wrong organization these animals will be directly effected. I am not affiliated with either of these organizations. I just donate to the zoo

PLEASE READ!!!! - it was my first time at this farm jail. Yes i said farm because thats what that is. You shouldnt call it a zoo just because you have 2 tigers. I am so mad for what i seen and i will fight until the wild animals are back where they belong. i cant sleep knowing theyre making money by caging animals such as bears and deer. Deer for god sake!! Like 7 of them and a beautiful buck. The worst part is.. they put up an extra fence around the trees so he cant rub his rack on them! What the fudge!! Who in their right mind is gona cage deer?? Its not cute or fun this place is a disgrace! All these animals look so sad and tired. They are being Exploited to the public instead of being left alone. Im sure being fed hundreds of pounds of popcorn a week isnt good for their health. Poor animals who are used to make these people money...I am going to reach out to few animal control units and make sure the bears and deer are set free to the woods. I understand that they are rescue animals but they still deserve freedom. Picture this you get injured or become ill but clearly capable of a normal life. But you dont get to go home, you are put in jail. And they make money off of your illiness everyday. This place needs to be shut down or closed from public. This is the circle of life. This is wild life. Youre driving at night and hit a deer, it dies. It dented your frontend completely. You drive home and call up a mechanic. You are pissed that you have to spend money on the car and dont think twice about the vultures eating the road kill. Animals live and die. Reproduce and get injured. But no one has the right to cage them. You are doing them more harm keeping them in a cage rather than letting them go and learning to survive because its in their blood. Please share this because i need to know that other people see that this is wrong

Today we lost our poor little dog. We looked all over. You see he dug underneath two fences and ran away. At last we found him, a kind stranger brought him to the Popcorn Park Zoo. We were instantly relieved to know our little angel would be home soon. However the beast who answered the phone at 5:30 told us not to bother because she was closing and needed to go home and feed herself. Ignoring her snotty attitude my wife raced to the Popcorn Park Zoo ariving well before 6:00pm, feeding time for the beast. Upon seeing my wife comming to the door the beast managed to roll herself to the door and lock it. She then yells through the door you dont have cash. My wife says she would get the cash from her car. The beast sneaks out the back door leaving my wife in tears without her poor little puppy. Driving away the beast even threatens what she will do to our poor little puppy if we made her late for her feeding time. I thought the HUMANE SOCIETY ran the Popcorn Park Zoo. It doesnt sound to humane to me!

They do a great job for parties but most of all they take great care of the animals. The shelter there is awesome. They do amazing things for sick or hurt strays . They have a great program for dogs that can never be adopted for health reaons or they are agressive . You can sponser a dog and go visiit them and buy them treats and beds and toys. We sponsered a dog that is deaf. Sid was adopted out a few times but sadly brought back ecause the people couldnt deal with her being deaf. She is a beutiful white pit mix and we love her. We can go take her for walks and bring her treats. We lost both of our dogs this winter within 3 weeks of each other and we arent ready to get another dog . THIS is an awesome alternative though. We dont just bring her treats though. Its lime in grade school if you dont have enough to share dont eat it in class. LOL. We buy enough for all the dogs but we get special things for Sid

This is more of a "rescue" center than a "zoo" regarding how the animals get there. As far as I know all of these animals have been reduced from danger and neglect. This makes a strong moral case in favor of their mission. The way the animals have been caged and confined over the years has been in classic Zoo style. The animals often look very sad and some , like the monkeys, are caged away from their peers. I am pleased to see that they seem to be attempting a positive shift to more of a sanctuary style where the animals are more free and independant. A very good example of this is that they are raising money to build a large monkey habitat so they can transfer them out of the small individual cages and into a better environment. They also have a shelter for adoption of domesticated animals like dogs, cats, guinea pigs, etc.. Dont shop, adopt!

If I could not give any star and state my terrible experience at this place today, I would! The immature older woman who was working outside, Lee, was extremely rude and a liar! She must have been having a bad day since its raining and she was stuck outside. I tried to remain as calm as I could with her following behind me antagonizing me to make me step out of character. This was our last weekend in New Jersey and my parents were trying to do something nice for my kids and since this lady was having a bad day, I had to leave. As I went to the supervisor to get refunded my money, Lee, decided to bust through the door and lean over the counter and scream in my face! Well, she embarrassed herself in front of her boss and an office full of co-workers. Oh well, glad were getting out of here, just BEWARE of Lee, not the animals :)
