We went to see Phantom of the Opera today at the Moran Theater. I must say both my husband and I were extremely disappointed. This was our first time to the theater and the outside is a very nice;, however our disappoint was the seating and how it is laid out. We were in row NN directly center of stage on the first two seats, the way they are lined up is right behind each other. They are not off set and they are not raised high enough to see over the person in front of you if your not a tall person. It is on a slight down slope but not enough to see over the person in front of you. The problem I had was I am 54” and I guess I am short! The guy directly in front of me must have been at least 57” well I could only see the back of his head. When he would hang his head to the left I could see the stage but most of the time he was front and center or turning sideways to look at the lady that came with him. If the seats had been either off center of each other or a step higher than the one in front it would be much better to see the stage. We really did not care much for the show either, but that could have been mostly just coming from the fact that I could not see and someone behind us smelled as if they had not bathed in a week and someone else that had brought a baby to the show that was screaming. We left within the first hour and won[t be going back ever. :(

We went to see Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus in the Terry auditorium on January 17th. The performance was fine but the facilities were shabby. The benches in the lobby had numerous beverage spills, the auditorium seats were rickety (some bolts holding the seats to the floor were missing), floor was not clean, folding chairs in place of seats near the front of the auditorium, and the restrooms resembled a bus station facility. I have been to several events at the TUC before but not in this particular venue and dont remember this condition in the others. It resembled a 70s era movie theater that had never been renovated. Very disappointing.

It is unfortunate that this theatre is located in the seedy parts of downtown Jacksonville. The shows are excellent and so are is the theatre. However getting parking and feeling safe getting to the theatre is of great concern to me. It gets even more daunting when the show is over and you leave. Down darkened streets winding under the old people mover and down forsyth street where the homeless are everywhere. Why it was chosen to be renovated back in the early 1990s is a great mystery. Downtown had already taken a turn for the worse, it started in the 1960s and it has never ever been turned around and never will be. Its a sad situation !!

Great venue for Jacksonville! Theres 2 auditoriums, a larger one for theater shows/concerts, and a smaller one for symphony orchestra shows. Both have comfortable seating and good acoustics. Concessions are very average, but I dont usually come to the symphony for concessions anyway (which are not even allowed in the auditorium, so they are only to be consumed before the show and during intermission). For the times that you are enjoying some concessions, this place has great views of the St. Johns River.

A pleasant performance space for both stage and musical shows. Good seating and sight lines. Family restroom is old and tired, and somewhat isolated on the second floor. (At least they have one.) My only real complaint is the way they handle concessions at intermission. The lines are huge and poorly directed. Service is slow. Unless you hustle, dont expect time to enjoy your purchase. (And they wont let you back into the performance with food or drink, either.)

Super nice venue for shows. Plenty of restroom facilities, and an abundance of ushers to help you get where you need to be. Theres a parking lot across the street that charges $20, but if you go down a little bit away from The Landing, theres event parking for $5 and a covered garage. Its only about a block down. They serve snacks and cocktails for intermissions, that the only thing that you can take in the performance area is the bottled water.

It would be so difficult to pick just one or even several "favorites" from last nights performance, The Phantom of The Opera. The entire cast was amazing, the sets spectacular, costuming sublime. The orchestration/ sound was fantastic, goosebumps are a good thing in theatre! A shout out to the Swings as well, in my opinion they have the most difficult job and not nearly enough credit. To all, Well Done!

I usually only go there once a year to see my granddaughters in their dance recital. The co to Nancy Dance at the beach and have been dancing for years. I used the parking valet across the street and it cost $5 and a tip. Well worth it. I dont have money to go to anything else but they have many interesting things to attend. Its next to The Landing so You can always go early and walk around if you want.

The finest acoustics in the city! If you get a chance to go hear your favorite bands or go see one of the holiday concerts here you will definitely appreciate the clarity of the sound in this building! Theres also a great riverfront view out back! If theres an intermission between shows, definitely step out back for a drink and enjoy the view! I dont think theres a bad seat in the house!

Amazing time here for the performing show Shen Yun. The place was decent in size the stage was designed where I was seating was perfect. Workers here are very helpful to accommodate peoples need who have a harder time seeing. The place is clean, food is provided, and drinks are there for you convenience. Great time overall amazing experience.

This is the main Arts Center in Jacksonville, three auditoriums 1. Terry theater for small theatrical shows and lectures. 2. Moran Theater for Opera, Broadway shows and Pop Music Concerts. 3. The Jacoby Symphony Hall, home to the Jacksonville Symphony for Symphonic Music.

Dont listen to that review from Ted. This part of town isnt seedy at all. Also there is a ton of surface and garage parking just across the street for $10. If you cant make the walk across the street, there is valet parking available for $15. Great place to see a show.

Great place to check out a wide variety of shows. I highly recommend parking in the Water St. Parking Garage when you first come off the exit then walking down to the venue. Much easier than having to turn around in seach of parking.

Wonderful venue, absolutely essential to Jacksonvilles cultural landscape. Events could definitely use better service infrastructure to refresh visitors more efficiently. Management needs to wake up.
