Great historic building being used as a multifaceted entertainment venue. I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show in October, it was awesome. The Theater promoted audience participation. For a virgin, it was amazing. Before the movie, a live band played. The sound was well balanced. I was seated right in front of the stage, so I couldnt tell you if the sound was too loud or if my location had something to do with it. The movie was a lot of fun, however the sound on it was terrible. Idk if it is the copy of the movie, the sound guy or what. Definitely think it could have been caught and taken care of before the doors opened. The following weekend I came for the Ghost show. My friend and I sat half way up the balcony. It is a great view of the stage so long as every stays seated. If you too want to stand, that isnt a problem. The band put on one hell of a performance, yet again the sound seemed off. As though the volume for all the mics were turned up too high. I give Florida Theater 5 stars despite the sound issues because both events were amazing, I love the aesthetics of the inside and outside of the building. There are several parking lots and garages within reasonable walking distance of the venue. My mother is handicapped, she came for the RHPS. They have a ramp that took us to the front of the auditorium. There are no places for someone in a wheelchair or scooter to position into the line of chairs, but they have a place for the handicapped to keep their equipment while they enjoy the comfort of the audience chairs. My hope is the next event I attend the sound problems will not be there anymore.

This is the best theater for concerts. It is an historic theater and is beautiful inside. Because it was built years ago, the seats are large and comfortable. The seats were designed when comfort at a theater was a concern and before bean counters figured they could make the seats smaller and fit in a couple more seats per row. The theater is large enough for touring acts but is small enough so that there are no bad seats. After seeing many outdoor shows, the air-conditioning is appreciated. Parking is super convenient as there is a parking garage one block from the theater where you can park for $10. You can call and buy tickets from the box office with no service charge or online for a reasonable fee. They do not use Ticketmaster so you dont end up paying a $12-15 service charge for your tickets. We attend 15-20 concerts a year at a variety of venues and The Florida Theater is our favorite.

It seemed to be clean inside and well kept. The seating is very close together in all aspects. There is no room between the seat you are sitting in and the back of the seat for the row in front of you. So when anyone wants to get out of their seat, you cant just stand up and let them pass, the whole row has to get up, walk out into the isle way to let people in and out. So during the entire concert there was a constant parade of people up and down, filing in and out of the rows of seats blocking the view of the stage. It was also very warm inside the theater, it has to be rather significant for me to mention a place being too warm. The acoustics were very good, and the ushers were very pleasant. Overall, I give a low rating because of the cramped seating and the view being constantly blocked by others coming and going form their seats.

I just was at the Johnny Lang show, and will probably never go to another show at this venue. Its a shame what has happen to this theater , they seem more concerned about selling Alcohol to Drunks then putting on a great show for the fans. Because of this the crowd was out of hand, drunk people yelling and whistling over the band and security unable or unwilling to stop them. Fist fights broke out in the seats and the band had to stop playing while security finally got involved. I have been to many other shows at this venue this is the second show I have walked out on. It no longer feels like a safe or fun place to go!!

I was attending the Generation Axe concert today and like every time I went to the box-office to exchange my on-line ticket for the stub as I collect all my tickets as a musical memorabilia. But this manager Ms. Mary refused to do it for me saying it can never be done. I have done it numerous times all over the country and even in the same box-office! She lied to me and was rude. She had no remorse on losing a customer. I will try not to choose that venue going forward and will as all My friends to do the same. All she had to do was exchange my ticket to a real stub! Shame on you!

Beautiful old Historic building in Downtown Jacksonville. Not a large venue, but always a good show. The building has modified ticket lines from where they originally were to try and accommodate a concessions area. It makes for a little bit of "traffic" getting in, but is worth the benefit of concessions during the shows. Alcoholic drinks are served as well as coffee and bottled water. We just saw The Nutcracker. It was a great show! We were nearly halfway back, but still felt like we were right there at the stage.

This theatre is one of the VEST venues to see a concert or show of any kind. The staff always go out of their way to be as kind as anyone could ask for and its also such a beautiful place. Just being inside a venue that was where Elvis played his FIRST indoor performance only begins to describe the feeling of the history that never leaves you once your concert experience has ended. I hope to keep coming here for years and years because it seems to get better every time :-) Thank you all for what you do!

I last went to see Dave Chappelle. The Florida theatre is always a good time. Pleasant atmosphere and the service is always good. The only thing I have an issue with is the seating. At times, depending on your size, it can be a bit uncomfortable for extended periods of time. For example, I am 61" and my arms are a bit too long for casual, comfortable sitting. The chairs are old and small in comparison to my comfy needs. Otherwise, go see shows here! Its a great experience every time!

Brit Floyd Concert- Absolutely Amazing! Have been a Pink Floyd fan for many years, and when I saw Brit Floyd was coming to Jacksonville, I was skeptical. Naturally, I read a lot of reviews, and WOW!! This band did not disappoint. Their performance and music at the Florida Theatre, was just phenomenal! Besides that the Florida Theatre is the best venue for its acoustics, and ambiance, it is also clean, and the staff is very helpful. :O)

I love this place but that being said once you get in your seats… you’re there. It can be exceedingly difficult for people to get in and out. The only other gripe is that being 6’2” my knees are constantly rubbing the back of the chair in front of me. But I will say that I enjoy this place, the president is super nice and the shows are 2nd to none, I mean who has hosted Neil Degrasse Tyson in Jacksonville?!?!? This theater.
