I literally stumbled on the Air Force Armament Museum and had not planned to stop, but the old planes and helicopters on display out front changed my mind. It happened to be a Sunday when the museum is closed. So, I cant speak for the interior of the museum, but the old aircraft displayed outside around the building were so impressive that I feel confident in saying that this place is well worth a stop. I say that and Im not a big war and military guy or expert. The history is very interesting. Kids would probably love this place. The museum is free and make sure you have your camera.

Our family had visited the air museum before and knew what to expect. However this time my 4 year old son was so excited he could not keep an indoor voice. After our tour a large rude woman approached my son. She explained to him ( a 4 yr old) that he should not yell. She said" you see we are trying to work and we cant work if you are being loud" . I was so shocked and hurt I could not say a word. I picked him up and left. As he screamed and cried all the way to the car. I plan to notify the museum of this issue and ask they post young childern should be quite.

Went to the Armament Museum with friends and family and saw an old friend, the SR-71 Blackbird. With there being such a small number of them made, I was surprised to see one there. My kids were a little shocked when I old them I actually worked on that exact plane. It was exciting and that was before we even went inside where there were lots of displays, even displays where my kids were able to sit in the cockpit. If you like planes, weapons or bombs and are in the area then you should visit this museum.

Never been there (yet) but use to live in Niceville, FL back in the 1960s when my dad was stationed there prior to his retirement from the USAF. Looking at your website, Im surprised to not see the C-123 in the pics or listed as a displayed aircraft. We saw them fly over our neighborhood a lot back in the days and it was fun to watch them (as it was for all the other military aircraft in use at the time). The C-123s were heavily used at Hurlbert Field in those days as well. Ah, the memories!!

Great museum. We visited and spend about 3 hrs going through. A lot of great plane exhibits outside that you can walk up to and see a closely. Gives you a great idea of the relative size from p-51 to the b52 they have. You may even see some of the plans from Eglin while there. we did. I would highly recommend. My 8 yr old had a great time. They had cockpits they were able to get in and see. Considering its free you can stay as short or as long as you like.

Last weekend, I was looking for something fun to do with my wife and three kids (ages 8, 11 and 13). We decided to go to the Armament Museum. Wow! Our visit to the Armament Museum was the most fun weve had in years! Quite simply, the Air Force Armament Museum is the single greatest place on earth! This museum is truly a national treasure. We will most certainly be returning next weekend, and likely the weekend after that!

Hey free self-paced Munitions Museum. There are also static displays of aircraft outside. The entire museum is wheelchair accessible and an elevator inside for the second floor. There is a gift shop and restroom as well. The museum is funded by donations and a box for donations is positioned as soon as you enter the front door. There is also a static MOAB at the Museum as well.

This place was such a nice change from everything else in the area that charges you more than youre used to for nearly everything. Completely free and our child loved all of the airplanes and helicopters on display (so did we). Definitely worth the trip to see a little history of our military as well as get the chance to see a lot of these aircraft up close and personal.

Perfect place to stop for a short visit and learn about the USAF. Many aircraft on static display outside and inside. Look up close at bombs, missiles, and ammunition. You could spend anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours here. They have a small gift shop to get some last minuet souvenirs. Best of all--its free. This facility is manned by volunteers. (Donations accepted).

Excellent little Air Force museum. Little bit of everything from small arms, bombs and missiles, to a B-52 and an SR-71A. Takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hrs to walk thru the exhibits, maybe 3 if you read everything. Its also free (though donations are welcome and deserving). Great break from the usual beach tourist traps.

This museum is awesome. Not only featuring several armament examples but a wide range of popular aircraft such as the F-15C, A-10, AC-130 and even an SR-71. The museum is completely free with the option to donate if you chose. The MOAB next to the building is something that should be seen in person.

I didnt get here during business hours so I wasnt able to go inside but you can still park in the lot and walk around to see all of the planes they have on display. It was really cool looking at them all and reading about how they came to be in service. Also it is free to walk around outside.

Took my family today ( 3 boys ), and before we even got out of the car, their eyes were bugged out with all the scenery of old jets and helicopters in the yard. The museum didnt disappoint, and the fact that it was free just sweetened the deal. Kids loved it and want to go back again.

One of the best Aircraft museums I have been to. They allow you to walk around the Blackbird and Pav lov craft that are parked outside the museum. And you get to see a bunch or armaments from sub-machine guns to the bunker busters inside. Definitely a must visit if you are in the area.

Really cool place to visit. There are several historical planes on display outside, and more inside along with all kinds of bombs and missiles to see. If you are looking for something to do besides hit the beach and have a couple hours to kill, this is a great place to stop.

Great place to walk and explore. My kids, 2 and 4, loved looking at airplanes and helicopters. We walked around the outside looking at airplanes and inside at the exhibits for about 2.5 hours. If youre in the Destin area for vacation, stop here. It is a really neat place.

Located just outside Eglin AFB, this is one of the only places to study the Doolittle Raid properly. Located just 15 minutes north of the museum is the actual airfield where the Raiders trained. I highly recommend a visit to this museum to absorb the history!

The plethora of static aircraft and the gbu-32 Massive Ordinance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb alone make this museum a blast (pun intended)....let alone all the great exhibits inside. My favorites are the SR-71, the B-52, and the Air Force Special Operations section.
