Ive been in this place no less than 20 times and every time Ive had good to great service. For a Christmas get together with some clients I chose this place as it was in a central location and is quiet on weeknights. This particular time I was disappointed with one of the worst customer service experiences Ive ever had. I sat down with my clients who had already been served and waited for someone to come to our table. After 5 minutes of chatting and no one coming to help, I walked to the main bar and stood there. After 3 more minutes of no one being there I walked around the place and found "James" at the rear bar making coffee drinks. I said, hey theres people waiting for drinks at the main bar, with a " who cares" attitude he barely looked up and said "Im making drinks for other customers" So I went back up to the main bar and waited another 5 minutes and FINALLY, I asked a waitress who had just arrived to help us. So easily 15 minutes passed by and my clients and I were helped. Then 5 minutes later this jerk James ambles up to our table and I tell him "youre too late, somebody else helped us." He proceeds to give excuses that he was helping other customers that were there first and "they were more important". I look around the place and besides my party of three there are MAYBE 8 other people in this place. So instead of apologizing for the poor service this pinhead asks me if we are going to have a problem, at which point the women Im with are just flabbergasted that this PUNK wants to FIGHT ME or throw me out of the bar for telling him he should be able to handle more than 1 customer at a time and that 15 minutes for a drink in an EMPTY bar is grossly unacceptable by anyones measure. So I tell him to get away from me unless theres a manager and this guy tells me HEs the manager???? The operations manager. Unreal, is THIS the reason this place is largely empty almost anytime you go in and only survives because its one of the only bars next to an entrance to a subdivision? Im sorry I hate to throw the baby out with the bath water but this place cant afford to have a vapid, arrrogant, musclehead like Jimmy working there at all, let alone in a management position. Unfortunately I spoke with the main manager and although he heard me out, he didnt say he would speak to him or that he even thought it was unacceptable. Like I said, the other 20 plus times Ive been in there things have been good to great, but this one bad experience was SO BAD that I wont go back until James is re-trained or let go. There are other places next door, down the street like "The Old Man" The Fox and the Hound, Baker Street Pub and Lodos. Hopefully the owner reads this and has to wonder if his investment is being driven into the ground by his employee.

As I understand it the Exchange Tavern is under new management and they recently remodeled. I was introduced to the tavern a few years ago and enjoyed the fresh food, ambiance and especially loved hosting events in here for my nonprofit. The back room was a great place to host our group and enjoy an evening. This year I called to see what would be a good night for our Holiday party and fund raiser and we booked an evening. We called to confirm a week ahead of time and the day before the event. We showed up with 40 guests to find out they had remodeled, something they failed to mention when we called to see if the back room was available for our party. Now they no longer have a back room. They said they had no reservation for us and then said they could not serve us, "they did not have enough food". The staff was rude and acted like this was no big deal to turn away a party of 40 that had booked in advance. Basically we were refused service for a reservation we made almost a month in advance. In addition a couple of people had shown up early and when they tried to order a drink they were told they should wait for their group to get there, They would not bring them a drink. It was embarrassing, I am still trying to comprehend why any business would treat loyal customers or any customer so badly. Luckily we were able to talk to a restaurant down the street who, with some minor challenges, were able to set up for us and saved us. Not only will they never get my business again but I will be sure to spread the word to the thousands of members of our organization!

If you want a drink at an Irish Pub then the place aint bad, but that is where it ends. The menu is $9 + for almost everyl items, a breakfast sandwich the only weekday fare that is made in the kitchen is $6.95 with no sides, even Starbucks, Einsteins or Paneras isnt that crazy. The food is just ok, the soups are extremely salty, the Irish fair is ok, but expensive. They have no separate lunch menu whatsoever, so there are no $5-7 entrees like at other places. This where the arrogance and attitude comes in, they should be happy anyone is in the place. But to expect everyone to have a $10 meal in a coffee shop is ridiculous. If you expect people to have breakfast/lunch then have a breakfast and lunch menu and put the word restaurant on the door. Some of the staff is pompous and berating with fake courtesy and should find other employment. They pre-brew their coffee in a thermos which means it doesnt stay warm, they wont even invest in a coffee heating system and they are a coffee shop, you may have hour plus old coffee, even 7-11 doesnt do this. Unless they change their attitude and roll-up their sleeves and get to work running the place, I doubt it will ever be more than a decent bar.

I have been wanting to try The Exchange Tavern for a couple months. Finally had the opportunity to try it on Monday night. Came in at 9:45 after a yoga class next door. Asked bartender for suggestions on what to drink, meaning an Irish drink that they might be known for. He couldnt suggest anything and made no attempt to ask any of the other servers that were seated at the bar to ask for suggestions. Again, made an attempt to get suggestions on what mixes with Guiness are favorites and still couldnt get any suggestions. We each had one drink and started to feel like we were getting kicked out at 10:30. The door, and online shows you are open until 11. Music was shut off at 10:45 and we were told by the bartender multiple times that they were finishing up. Felt very unwelcome and will not be back.

My wife and I had been there a couple of times and found a good place to enjoy a decent meal and some drinks...We went there last night with our little boy and upon entering were greeted by the most unpleasant hostess of all time. She appeared to be in here late teens and asked us with a dead pan expression,"what can I do for you?"...which seemed like a crazy question considering we were at a restaurant. We told her were there to eat and she asked inside or out and we stated that we would like inside. She giggled and said there was a private party and she would have to check....This was at 8 PM and we could only see 2 tables occupied... I really dont know what was going on but it seemed that we were definitely not welcome. We will not be back! Do yourself a favor and go next door to Zen!
