Beautiful inside. A great building to introduce lower elementary kids to grandeur, architecture, and government. We didnt take the free tour because of the crowd. Walking around the various museum rooms, we chanced across a rare books display (great big beautiful old books), saw a vault with super thick doors, climbed up 3 tall flights of stairs and found the Senate and Assembly galleries. They were not in session so were quiet but still invokes a sense of awe. They also have displays on the hallways highlighting each county in the state. Some are more well done than others and feature nice models of local attractions. Afterwards, my 5 1/2 year old daughter mused at how beautiful the inside of the building was.

The Capitol Museum continues to offer such a rich experience, even on my third time visiting. My colleagues and I took a tour and we were delighted by the depth of historical knowledge our tour guide, H. Bral, shared mixed with interactive questions aimed at the young visitors. He was engaging and fun and kept everyones attention for about an hour and a half. Also, all of the staff members and CHP officers were professional yet showed good humor and always were willing to help a visitor. Im amazed that our seat of government has such a welcoming environment. It is no wonder that so many schools and individuals make their way to Sacramento to see this historical and significant landmark.

Stately outside, incredibly stunning inside. The Capitol building not only houses legislative chambers and offices, as well as the Governors office, but is a beautiful historic museum. Tours are available (free - just walk in and sign up) and films show in the basement, or you can wander the halls independently. Exprct many school groups, particularly in the spring. The Capitol has been restored to its 1870s opulence and is, in my opinion, breathtaking. Be mindful (and patient) as entry is gained via security stations with x-ray scanners and metal detectors.

Un endroit chargé dhistoire. Les guides étaient parfait. Grande gentillesse. On découvre la salle verte et la salle rose réservé aux différentes institutions. On peut voir aussi le dôme du capitol. Le jardin autour est fantastique avec des arbres majestueux.

Happy New Year Nice historical Statue at Cesar Chevaz Plaza. :) Historical Land mark placed south of The Historical City Hall across the street. There is a Woman statue fountain pond(Greek~Anglosaxan~native Indian sect.) in the center of the park. The woman statue of 3 posesse was built by a wealthy woman after her husband died. The vertical map view of the park looks like a spider web and a female greek symbol. This statue is a primitive Calendar and Clock that reveals solor and lunar orbital revolutions and rotations of the

The museum which takes up a large part of the central portion of the Capitol is nice to walk thru and learn a little history. We went on a rainy Sunday and it was almost empty but unfortunately the galleries over the assembly and Senate chambers were closed. You do get to see rooms made up as they looked over a century ago and the official governors paintings. There are also halls lined with windows for most counties showing a bit of their history and what they are known for producing.

At first my friends and I were walking around, and I opened the door to the front (which I was unaware of at the moment) I then proceeded to peek my head inside. To then which a lady saw me and said, "Come in its free". To which i freaked out and ran to my friends and we started laughing walking away. Then i remembered what the nice lady said, "Its FREE". To which I told my friends, came inside, and looked around. It was a cool place and would totally be down to go again.

Ive visited this numerous times and it should be a part of every Sacramento local to tour this historical landmark. It was Hon. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger holding office at that time when I first came here. Couldnt believe at first that he was my same favorite villain in Terminator 1! I learned the so many counties of California Ive never heard before. Relive history just by looking at the offices where lawmakers and officials do their job in those antiquated rooms!

Was downtown this afternoon and stopped by the beautiful capitol building and went through part of it. Beautiful and restored offices decorated like 1900 with candlestick phones etc. amazing trees outside including redwoods, and sequoias, and magnolias. We can all be proud of the state and its history. Recommend everybody in or near Sacramento take some time to see our beautiful downtown, and gorgeous buildings and the Tower bridge,

Great building. If you are into architecture and design, youll see that this building is an amalgamation of many styles. The interior coloring although is not my favorite but as it was explained to us; there is a reason for this. On the day of my visit we were fortunate enough to get a tour of both chambers - the senate and the assembly. We may have been a bit loud as well because we were constantly being watched by capitol security.

a real great place to visit. They tell you how US law making works and you get a peek inside the work of politicians. the admission is free and also the tour which lasts about an hour where you get to hear a lot of interesting things about the history of California and the building. to enter you have to get through a metal detector but you dont have to take off your shoes. make sure you visit the balcony of the two chambers.

I had to come here and check out some history at the Capitol in Sacramento CA. First and foremost you have to do to the second floor and look out the window to the road and buildings which is very amazing!! Yes people basement is ok but nothing spectacular so dont get your hopes up too high. Everything else is amazing. Back yard is massive! But overall you have to go to take amazing pics!! It wont disappoint~

I think its great that ca can up the wage of the common person and devalue the American money .(get your big Mac at McDonalds for ten bucks cause the person making it is getting fifteen an hour but what the hay its a election year and most people in ca making minimum wage cant count to fifteen. But.they keep the capital clean and that is what matters$$$$$yes I thought it was funny as well.

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the capitol city. Plus, its free to take a tour of as its the peoples building. Capitol Park plays host to I believe every tree that grows in California. You can randomly find some sort of entertainment, or group lobbying for an agenda putting on a production on the west steps. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

I enjoyed visiting the State Capitol Building. The building was build in 1874 and the architecture is amazing. Didnt get a chance to take one of the free tours, but everyone is welcomed to walk around this historic building freely. I did have tough time finding parking and all the streets are one-way streets, so it took me sometime to maneuver my way there.
