A huge group of us homeschoolers took our kids to the planetarium portion of the museum. It was a nice show and kept the attention of the kids quite well. Then the instructor (who did a great job with the planetarium show) gave us all tickets and told us they were for getting into the discovery museum side for free!! The kids were thrilled! And so were us parents because we thought the planetarium was a part of the discovery museum and we would be allowed into the museum anyway. Well, we walked over to the museum and the person at the desk proceeded to tell us that it was a misunderstanding and she wouldnt honor what the instructor had told us. I asked if there was anything they could do for us, since the blame fell on them, but even after calling her director, they didnt make any compromise. The person at the front desk didnt even go to bat for us or try to get us a compromise. She just talked to the director and confirmed that they wouldnt do anything. I say "wouldnt" because they certainly could have made some sort of accommodation for us. By then most of our group had gone home very disappointed and there was only a handful of us and there was absolutely no one in the museum. All they needed to do was compromise a little bit, take on some of the blame, and they would have had future paying customers. Us homeschoolers sometimes have an abundance of funds from our charter schools and we can spend that money at the museum, in the gift shop, buying passes or even memberships. Because of the poor customer service that they displayed to me and my group, I wont be taking my kids back nor recommending this place to anyone else. There are so many museums in Sacramento! Go somewhere else, the options are endless! We are avid museum goers and I would rather spend my money somewhere that truly values the children and the students and goes above and beyond for the education of our kids!

My daughter was only 17 months when my husband and I took her to the space museum. There was plenty of interesting things for her to observe such as small insects and books she could handle. We just took her from station to station and read whatever that particular station said. We then put the space suit and helmet on her even though she was much to small for it, it was still fun to see. We will be bringing her back for years to come. My only complaint is the staff is very abrasive...kind of rude or short tempered. I noticed it from two young ladies that worked there but just ignored it. There was some attraction I believe its called the creature feature and right before it started the woman hosting it said if you have fussy kids be sure to exit out the back so you dont disturb the animal. Well sure enough our little one needed to be taken out and you would of thought we broke the law she stops talking looks at us rude and says "If your going to go out that door you need to push it" which seems fine when its written but I can assure you it wasnt friendly advice. We just shrugged it off. Be warned though I guess because these people are around kids all day that they dont know how to talk to adults. Other than that it was very educational for everyone and fun.

I was very excited to take my kids to this Science Center. Upon arrival, the place looked very big with lots of outdoor space. We thought the prices were good until we got inside. Very few animal exhibits, basic hands on activities for the fossils, it took all of 15 minutes for us to explore those. The staff on hand didnt seem to care at all about the people paying to come inside. Other than the lady that took our money, we only had one other interaction with staff. The main reason we came, was for the space exhibits. We were not even told we could not enter any of the space areas, until after we paid. We were not allowed into any of these areas and were told they were not part of the museum... We ended up leaving after 20 minutes and going to the Zoo. I am very disappointed and will not be recommending this to anyone.

Its extremely small and there are NO windows; our 3 under-7 kids like about 3 exhibits. More exhibits with text and pictures, but few with interesting hands-on stuff. The dress-up spaceship is our kids favorite exhibit. We are members since the price of membership wasnt much more than two visits worth for our family, but I would recommend Lodis World of Wonders museum (which our membership gets us into) over this. The staff member on duty both times weve gone has been short and not particularly excited about us, even though almost nobody else was there. (About 3 families would make this place crowded.) They have plans to move to a new facility. Lets hope they can make the exhibits better, too.

Very small establishment, I mean very small. Brought my 6 year old daughter & 2 year old son, and they had a blast :-) Their favorite was the dress-up astronaut suit and play rocketship. A few cool activities, but overall I dont think it was really worth the $10 it cost in total to get in. The kids did have a great time though. Would not recommend for children older than 6, because they will probably be poorly entertained.

I took my son here about 10 years ago and recently came back to bring my daughter and was really surprised that nothing had changed this museum is overpriced and over rated theres nothing here exciting to do and is his bad as the Childrens Museum. the Lodi science world of wonder museum is so much far superior to this I would not recommend anyone come here

Outdoor picnic area was very dry, dead grass. Pond looks dirty and areas surrounding pond look like they do not take care of the property very well. Some games for the children can be too difficult and too time consuming causing the children to lose interest in What couldve possibly been very beneficial for all children.

Fantastic, interactive place to take your children. Quite frankly if I didnt look like a weirdo, I would go by myself, and really check out what activities they really offer. When youre with children, reading about and enjoying exhibits, is futile. Job well done, price reasonable, knowledgeable and kind staff. Bravo!

Special event included a wonderful display of the "Eclipse" stamp from USPS. Post Office employees and Managers were along to talk about it and offer an opportunity to buy. A terrific rendition of Nat. Anthym as well as recital of Pledge led by local GSA. I look forward to Mondays viewing party of the eclipse.

Very small, unimpressive, and planetarium is not open but twice a day for twenty minutes for a guided picture tour that is very fast and simple and young child-oriented. Good place for 6 and under.... Not so much for over that. And for a 6 year old a planetarium is just pretty lights.

Great place to go for the entire family. I used to go when this place was called the Discovery Museum. Lots of fun interactive activities for everyone. Recently I went for the solar eclipse event! It was great to be part of something that may only come once in a lifetime.
