Total throwback to the good old days! Great location and ambiance. As a family owned business, Bob, Angela and their kids Max and Lauralee do a fantastic job. Bob and Angela are well connected to the music industry and it shows by their music offerings. Bob was the manager of Huey Lewis and the News and Pablo Cruise, before he retired and bought the Rancho. Angela ( Strelhi ) is a great blues singer and the former manager of world famous blues joint Antones, in Austin TX! Delicious, well crafted, locally sourced food is created with care by Max. The Rancho is like a place youd see in a classic movie! Their BBQ on the Lawn events are yummy and a blast, as you dance on a deck or the lawn, in a redwood grove! Plenty of chairs and seating too. Thanks so much to the Browns and their wonderful crew!! I always leave that place with a glow that lasts around a week! See you again real soon!

Very interesting place, been here twice, year after year. Live music and BBQ were great fun this 4th of July. The only and unfortunately huge disappointment was one of the barmaids: when asked for a beer she pulled out an almost full plastic cup, poured over into a new one, topped and saying no-one was drinking it before offered it to me... when I asked for a freshly poured one she made very loud comments to her colleague "oh he is not happy lets make him happy he wants a new beer" etc talking about me as if I was not right in front of her, nevermind I was asking for something I pay for over $5 and it costs them under a buck. That beer could have tasted much better had it not been for this rude attitude, maybe its her style but didnt sound as a joke and nobody was laughing. Will come next year for more live music and bbq.

Miserable food. Horrible service. The waiter challenged us and refused to acknowledge his error when he brought us chicken instead of the salmon we ordered. Good beer on tap (but only Lagunitas Brewery) is the only redeeming point in favor of stopping here. I live locally and had a nearly identical experience two years ago...It was my mistake to think they might have improved since then...Dont waste your money or time here...Drive out to Pt.Reyes Station and enjoy a meal at Station House Cafe. Theyre hit or miss...but at their worst, theyre better than Rancho Nicasio.

I read these very reviews as I planned my trip and was not expecting too much. The draw for me was the oysters from the now closed Drakes Bay Oyster Co. Despite that loss, I was able to enjoy some delicious oysters on the 1/2 shell from nearby Tomales Bay oyster co, sinfully good garlic fries and a couple of Anchor steam beers for the Happy hour price. The clientele was friendly and the local color was fun. Sadly, we could not stay for the piano and accordion music, but I will surely visit here again and plan to enjoy some music and dancing!

We found an announcement for Roy Rogers playing out at Rancho Nicasio last minute on Saturday, called, got a reservation for dinner and music and away we went. I LOVED it all. What is not to love about listening to Roy Rogers - such a fabulous musician BUT on top of that a wonderful casual, warm ambience in the restaurant, great food (tell me where you can ever get a melt in your mouth pork chop); quick, attentive service. It was an unexpected treat for me all the way around and I would go out there again at any opportunity.

Well I have to say that the food here is very good but the atmosphere is pure 1960s Piedmont, if you know what I mean. Two different tables around complained about their entrees being underdone or the service being too tardy. Id like to parachute those parties into Darfur for a week and then extract them and tell them they had nothing to complain about in the first place! Get real people and appreciate what youve got. Otherwise...great restaurant! Ill be back! Budgerman

We were on our way to Point Reyes and thought of getting lunch here for take out. The place is huge inside and it must be a busy place on evenings or when there are events going on. I was just surprised that there is an extra take out fee on our bill. The place is plastered with mounted trophies of different animals.

Ranch Nicasio is a wonderful place for a stiff drink after a long drive in which you fear for your life of the windy backroads of Marin County. If dancing, giant moose heads, and thick cut fries float your boat, its a great getaway...just watch out for the weekend cyclist circuit. Theyre terrifying.

Julie and Me went to see Live music. Middle of nowhere old fashioned country roadhouse. Fireplace, boars head on the wall, and crab feeds.. very neat place. Nice service too. Food is great.

Casual bar and restaurant fit for any Marin outing. A western themed jewel of a destination along beautiful countryside complete with obligatory antlers and bear bust

BBQ on the lawns are a great musical and gastronomic experience. Relatively unique in the Bay Area and worth the effort to make it out to West Marin.

Great place to stop for a bite in route to West Marin coast. Charming and cowboy-ish but pretty progressive crowd.
