Oh Terrapin... So many memories, and so many more waiting to be made! Great acoustics, both in the restaurant and also in their concert hall. Fun clientele, valet parking when they are busy, wonderful service, well-thought out menu that rotates on a regular basis. If you go on the weekend, be sure to make a reservation as the restaurant often just fills up. The menu at the bar is more limited, but still good. Pretty good wine list, and the wait staff has been amazing when it comes to suggesting the perfect glass. For a split second though, they went through a phase where whoever was dealing with their oysters behind the scenes did not seem to know how to prepare them, as I would always find tiny shell fragments. On the other hand, they were (and still are) super fresh. Lately, I have not had the shell problem, giving me hope that it wont re-occur... Last but not least... This is the only restaurant whose salads I actually crave and rave about! I am not a salad person, mostly because most restaurants do not seem to be able to get the dressing right, always forcing me to order it on the side and hope that it is actually edible. Whoever is conjuring up the sauces and salad dressings at Terrapin is an absolute genius! Perfectly balanced, always fresh, always crisp with just the right amount culinary intrigue. Sometimes I am tempted to just order a large bowl of sauce and lick away at it (though I never do, as I am sure it would traumatize my very civil companions)... They also dream up new saladly creations regularly - alas, sometimes my favorites just vanish - but there are always new goodies waiting to be found on their menu.

Really love this place for seeing live shows, I really do. The service has repeatedly ruined my experiences in the restaurant however. Last time, they claimed that they were fully committed and we would have to wait 2 hours for a table. We loitered outside by the patio and did not see one person sit at the outdoor tables, eight of which could accommodate our group. I asked the hostess an hour later, who claimed the patio was fully booked, and we couldnt be seated, that eight tables were about to walk in. Lo and behold, an hour later not a single person has sat at the supposedly full tables. By the time we were finally seated two and a half hours after arriving, it would have been better to have just gone to another restaurant. The food was mediocre, consistent with previous experiences. Come here for the music, not the food or service.

Relaxed and jovial atmosphere included at this terrific venue for live music, unique selections of great food and drink. Beautifully designed, Terrapin Crossroads has transformed this previous unloved portion of the San Rafael Creek into one of the best gathering spots for an afternoon or evening out. An open and airy floor plan is perfectly suited for guests to change locations throughout their visit. Sit for a great meal in the restaurant area, before heading over to the bar and indoor band area. Or stroll outside and chill on the patio or at the adjoining park on the water to soak in some sun and cool breezes. The music never stops and you never know who you will bump into. Every visit provides a new and fun experience. Terrapin is a venue that make you feel as welcome as an old friend.

I admit, Im hard to impress, but I have nothing but compliments to the wait staff and chefs at Terrapin Crossroads. I have been there a few times for brunch and dinner, and I have yet to be disappointed in the slightest. They have THE BEST Fish N Chips anywhere. Their "Dungeness crab eggs benedict" is sinfully decadent. The staff is super friendly. You gotta try their signature cheeseburger. Theyre addictive. Seriously, theyre absolutely delicous. When you leave there, youre full. I sincerely hope this place succeeds. I know it will. Its just a friendly place with great food, and I would recommend it to everyone. Try it once, and youll be back.

At first, it seems weird to be hidden behind a pile of auto dealerships off 101, but once outside in the restaurant (if you sit outside, which I recommend), next to San Rafael Creek, you can forget about that and enjoy the ambience of being ext to the water. The food is good - I had some excellent oysters and 3 fish tacos (2 are not enough) - the house red is OK. By the way, go to the bar early and get some Happy Hour discounts - the beer list is extensive enough for all tastes. And why not go to a show while youre there? its free in the bar, but the post- entertainment is excellent, too, even if you are not a Deadhead!

I dined at the restaurant. I have not been to the performance venue, so this review in no way reflects on the performance venue. The atmosphere is lively, the music is good, the crowd is a veritable mix of Marinites, and the food was meh. If they tightened up the dishes, focused more on flavor and tweaked some of the ingredients, they could breathe new life into the menu. Its on par with good bar food. If you enjoy the Grateful Dead, you may enjoy Terrapin Crossroads. They have a nice outdoor patio with heat lamps and a fire pit that look pretty enticing. I would go back.

I watched the Saturday and Sunday Grateful Dead concert simulcasts from Chicago here on July 4th and 5th, and had a splendid time. The staff are gracious, and the food is pleasantly sophisticated without being overpriced. I was made to feel welcome, in a "drop by any time" sort of way. You really have no idea who might decide to sit down and have a drink with you - I heard some "grate" tales from a local fan. I was there on a very special weekend, but the atmosphere and vibe are something youll want to return to, if youre into the jam band environment.

Food was great - I had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes & collard greens. Delicious. The beverage was a fantastic fruit flavored ice tea. Service was very good. Music was being played without being overpowering. The place is huge and all tables were filled. It was a late afternoon on a Sunday. The place is clean and well run. No complaints here. After dinner I attended a concert in the "Grate Room." Oh, the parking lot is big and there is also some limited street parking. Professional staff & security. I highly recommend it!
