So many things to do, once you actually get out of the car lol. From bicycles to boats and patio cafes. But the parking situation is a mess. If youre catching a charter excursion in a hurry, its not going to work. Weekend traffic here is very bad. You need ample time just to find a parking spot. It was suggested to park in the residential area for free but I was worried how far it would be walking to the docks. Did end up in a meter lot on the complete other side of Balboa Blvd. (on fishing pier / beach side) at a reasonable city rate of under $10 all day. It can take 10+ minutes to walk back across Balboa to the boat trips area (non-beach side). The parking sign said you must come back every 2 hours to deposit more $ but this is not required, as the kiosk will allow you to enter any hour that you want to come back. I saw the patrol check each car, but after 6pm its free.

One of Orange Counties nicest piers as it is well maintained and the general area is very nice. Surrounded by popular restaurants, bars, pubs and specialty shops, also the beach, a lovely little Park and a fresh fish market. This pier is a hub for locals and visitors, a meeting place for thousands visiting this lovely Peninsula. The pier is clean, very inviting. The front building is very stately; fitting for this upscale trendy yet casual environment. You will definitely enjoy your visit!

This is my goto beach. You have nice eateries on and around main street, Rubys at the end of the pier is a great place to eat and view the ocean. The fishing is good there due to a deep canyon off the end of the pier, allowing the access to larger pelagic species. I go to skimboard the shorebreak waves. The swell can be heavy and close, which might be an issue for some. The new parking system has this clever app for your phone that you can purchase time with. Have fun!

Do try to take a pleasant evening walk on this pier. Theres always a breeze and it can get cooler than the sand so bring a sweater or windbreaker if you get cold, especially after the sun goes down. There are frequently fishermen and sometimes kids fishing from the pier. If youre curious, Ive found these people friendly and open to questions, for the most part. If you can, stay for a bite at Rubys at the end of the pier.

Todo muy bien, buenas opciones para comer, salvavidas en la playa, la gente es cordial, el único pero, los baños, sumamente sucios. No olviden usar bloqueador solar y visitar Rubys

Left for whale watching from this location. Lots of little shops and amusement at location with small ferris wheel and arcades. Coffee shop, burgers, corn dogs, etc. Public parking locations available, but be prepared for these as it requires a phone app or a telephone call. If you call in, they charge $5.00 to setup account, although price for parking was reasonable.

Great beach. There are fire pits, a pier with Rubys diner, a playground for kids, lifeguards on duty, clean overall, nearby bathrooms, easy to pay for parking. The only downside is the lack of attention to the restrooms as the day went on. As much as it cost to park, they should direct some resources toward janitorial staff during the day..

Beautiful here But just found out the school buses have to pay for parking in the stalls very sad we bring loads of people who spend lots of money here you would think parking for a couple of hours would be free, and there sign says buses exempt and on the bottom it says buses pay WOWP

Great restaurants along the beach. You have to wait for a parking space if its a busy season, but totally worth it! Just a walk down from the pier to the wedge is great! When the waves are high, lots of surfers are out and just incredible to watch!

Typical SoCal beach/pier experience with fire pits and lots of tourist rentals around. Too crowded for my tastes though, can find similar beaches and piers in other cities in SoCal without all the crowds and 30-60 minutes circling for parking.

I was there last year & I absolutely love it there. It is truly an awesome place to visit. Would love to live there to be honest. If you ever go to California, please make Newport beach "a must" on your list. You will absolutely love it.

One of my local hangouts. Laid back atmosphere as expected. Great restaurants around the pier and has two grassy areas for canines and humans alike to frolic around. Beach has a designated bonfire area. Parking is metered and limited.

Parking is hard, expect a little walk to the pier. Should rent a bike & enjoy the peaceful route along the beach houses. Rent bike around the ferry/Balboa fun zone, $10 for whole day. We didnt know that, paid $10 for one hour :(

This place can be a little crowded at times but I think it is a little better than the Newport Pier just because it is further away. You will most likely be paying for parking in the parking lot if you want to come here though.

Was ok, beach was fine, was not crowded, on the day we were there it didnt look like a place you would want to swim with the waves. Kids had a good time, they have a nice park area with outside showers to wash of the sand

The weather was fine. Im pretty light skinned but I only got a slight sunburn. The grass at the rec area was very soggy. The restrooms were relatively clean but, of course, the faucets never stay on past when you push them.

Best Ever!! The cleanest pier Ive seen!! Even in the designated fishing/crabbing areas. There were no rails on most of the pier! Children and parents paid attention, enjoying the freedom and open view. Love it!

We had fun watching the fishermen and women. We also watched birds, dolphins, seals, and whales from the pier. Oh, lets not forget the surfers, could have stayed for hours but the teenagers wouldnt let me.

Beautiful pier and beach. Had Rudys out on the end of the pier, and it made for a great afternoon. Have to give 4 stars though, because there was a ton of garbage floating in the water :(

Great Place to take the kids. There is a nice playground and grass park just before the pier starts, and at the end of the pier, you can relax at Rubys! I highly recommend the trip.

Authentic California pier, just off the boardwalk. Parking is a challenge some days, but the views are beautiful and the people, including the fishermen, are interesting to watch.
