I happened upon The Old Zoo @ Griffith Park randomly last week. Andy C. and I were looking for a leisurely hike and decided to check out a different trail than our regular go to place. If youre a fan of Night at the Museum, this is probably really awesome for you. The park is decently kept, people are out having picnics or exercising. The empty cages and caves are neat to check out. Children and those with vivid imaginations can have a field day here. Cool to check out and very close to the Aubry National Center. They have farmers market all summer there.

Ive been taking my kids here for years. Its a great park with many amenities to satisfy your interest. The prices outside the zoo are resonable but can quickly become expensive if you have a bigger family. Entrance for parking runs at about $4 per vehicle. Entrance to zoo is about another $3 to $5 a person. The zoo is not very big but families can enjoy seeing inhabitants such as various owls, a cheetah, wolf, mountain lion, bears, goats, pigs, and beautiful peacocks and others.

Such a hidden gem in OC! This is a great place to take your kids, but I also had a fantastic time. Its only 2 bucks to get in, you can walk the small property in less than an hour, and get up close to the animals! Its very stroller friendly, partially shaded, and the staff is very personable. They post feeding times too and interactions so you can be there when they are feeding the golden eagles or mountain lions! There is also a small petting zoo with some goats.

This is a great park. There are many animals that have been rescued and nursed back to health. It was amazing to see the mountain lions and other animals in the park. It is very affordable and worth the drive for a day trip. They have a train and horses for rides. You can rent bicycles and tandem bikes as well. Theres a small lake and you can rent a paddle boat to get around. Overall, its a nice little place that I would definitely go to again!

This zoo was very small, but it was neat to see so many animals and birds up close. There is only a $2 entry fee, too. We saw mountain lions and a bald eagle among many other animals found in southern states and South America. The only issue is finding parking, but that is because there are many other activities going on throughout the park. We had to walk about a half a mile from our parking spot to the zoo, but it was a shaded and scenic walk.

As others said, its not very large. There are a few enclosures left. That said, if you park at the picnic area and walk up, its not as fun.Park at the Merry-Go-Round, and take the trail just past the roadblocks. There are several enclosures, and you can go into them.If you keep walking youll eventually make your way down to the lower area and the picnic tables. Its short but interesting.

Great little zoo. Animals are well taken care of...and yes, they have "friends"! The park including the zoo is a great place to spend a day with your family or just by your self, and it wont cost you an arm and a leg (like Disneyland, SeaWorld, Aquarium of the Pacific,...). Very tranquil just being out with trees all around, while lacking all the hoopla of the other "attractions".

It was the halloween zootacular today and loved it!!! Still only $2 to get into the zoo, and there is SO much going on for the kids... my sons loved watching the bear tear apart the pumpkins to get to get goodie... and the workers were so nice and informative... lots of crafts that even my 1 yr old was able to participate in... just get there early.

Tiny but lovely. Its a wonderful place for you and your family! Makes you feel like this is the kind of zoo that you could really see the animals. You also get the chance to talk to the zoo keepers and ask them about the animals. And you get to see them train the mountain Lions. This could be one of my favorite zoos!

This zoo is a hidden treasure! I never knew it existed, and I am so happy to have found it! All the animals are somewhat local, and they take really good care of them. You can feed goats and sheep at the petting zoo for a quarter, and the entrance fee is only $2.00 (plus the $3.00 per car fee to get in to the park).

I love coming to the zoo. The animals are well cared for and fed. The keepers will answers any questions you have, even when your children start asking questions like "do you want a different job?" Mid week there is no crowds so its like you have the place to yourself.

I dont think they take a good care of animals over there. I felt like most of the animals are very misarable. Its more like a animal prison. Most animal dont have friends. Only part good for kids is petting zoo. Other than that, I dont think its worth to see.

You know how it takes 10 years to get through an entire zoo, this place is perfect. Just enough animals for the kids and theres goats you can hang with. And if you dont wanna be at the zoo, you got the train ride, ponies, paddle boats and nature.

Quaint little zoo that gives you way more than your moneys worth! Between the train, rental bikes, pony rides, and massive park surrounding the actual zoo, theres plenty to do and see. And the grounds are well kept and beautiful to explore.

My two year old really liked the petting zoo. Its very small but perfect fit a toddler with a short attention span. I let him lead us and be had a ball. Also so much more affordable than the LA or San Diego Zoo. Thank you!

Although the zoo is small it is still fun for the family. I suggest you do the scavenger hunt to add a little more depth to the visit, plus you get a choice of several iron-on badges when you complete it.

Great for what it is! Mostly birds and lizards, but the petting zoo and bear are great, perfect set up for young children, strolller accessible, 2$ an adult and kids 2 and under free.
