Gabriel Jebb is the worst human being I have come into contact with as of yet. Please allow me to explain. The view was amazing and the gliders were very cool to watch but our whole experience was ruined by one of the workers claiming to be the owner of the glider port named Gabriel Jebb. After sitting at a table, surrounded by other empty tables, we were told by gabriel that the tables were for "glider staff only". We then asked why it mattered since they closed in a half an hour anyway and all of the other tables were empty. He then lit a cigarette and told us to move because he was "the boss". We then moved over to where he had told us and continued to watch as the tables remained completely empty. Then I noticed a sign that read "tables for patrons only". I remembered we had bought some items from their store earlier, so therefore we were "patrons". I went in to tell him that we had bought stuff prior to his show of power and he told me it didnt matter and that hes the boss boss and what he says goes. Therefore, as a word of warning, look out for gabriel jebb, he has a short fuse and has no ability to think with reason or clever thought. The other staff seemed confused as to why he went out of his way to ruin our whole mothers day picnic, and some even apologized and told us they had no idea why he had done that. So if you do go to the gliderport, steer clear of gabriel jebb and his foul temperement.

Torrey Pines Gliderport is undoubtedly one of the prettiest, most picturesque, and scenic places in San Diego. Its actually my very favorite place in this beautiful city. Youll get amazing amazing views of the La Jolla coastline to the left and North County to the right. Youll get a grasp of the wide, stunning, incredible Pacific Ocean. And youll get to see the sunset. I come here to relax, unwind, stare at the sea, and let my thoughts go. I see people meditating, taking pictures, watching the gliders, or walking down the steps to the beach. As mentioned below - perfect place to bring visitors to give them something jaw-dropping. Its something that explains the beauty of this city in a way no words can describe. Not even this review.

Amazing place. If you are visiting San Diego this place should definitely be on your list. Its sandwiched between Torrey pines golf course and the ocean. Parking is usually never a problem. The views are amazing, as you are standing on a 200+ foot cliff and full view of downtown La Jolla and the Torrey Pines coastline. On any given day youll see many paragliders and hang gliders soaring throughout the sky. Its a great place to just relax and read a book. There is a way down to blacks beach but its a windy path down the cliffside. PS: if you are the daring type you can go on a tandem paragliding trip here!

Hidden off the dirt beaten path across from UC San Diego is the #1 ranked gliding school in North America, Torrey Pines Gliderport! Its the perfect way to pass the afternoon at the al fresco cafe noshing on their Acapulco Wind Chicken Sandwich, enjoy the breathtaking views of the pacific ocean while soaking up some sun, and watching the paragliders float lazily in the sky. Ive had the opportunity to paraglide years ago when I stumbled upon their Easter promotion - dress like a bunny and get a free paraglide! The impromptu costume was well worth the beautiful views from up above.

A must visit even if you are not into gliding. I am not. It has some of the most fantastic views of the ocean from a higher altitude. When we went, it was a little cloudy but still great views. The glider port closes at 5.30 but you can still see gliders even after that. There is a good seating area to have a cup of coffee or beer and enjoy the view as well as the folks gliding. There is a huge grass area where the preparations before flight are done. The food shops were closed when we went, so cant comment on that.

We were driving on the 56 going west when I noticed the sun about to set and the rays peeking through the clouds...I told my husband to drive towards Torrey pines state reserve to catch the sunset...there wasnt any parking but he knew of this little place called the Glider Port. We drove through the bumpy dirt field and ended at the most beautiful place to watch the sunset...it really was heaven on earth...every part of it...

My husband and I had a great experience at the glider port. After watching awhile, we decided to sign up. Unfortunately, the winds died down. It worked out well because the winds were much better the next day. The staff was friendly and helpful and the instructors were great. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, however if Im ever in the area again, Ill be back.

This place is a hidden gem! Even a lot of locals dont know about it. You can have an awesome lunch (I had the tortilla soup and an amazing sandwich called "the tandem") while watching the paraglider come and go. There is always a lot of parking and places to sit and chill. I suggest bringing a blanket, it can be a bit cool sometimes, even when its warm inland.

My wife, son, and daughter (10) went on the glide and loved it. The professional pictures are not really worth the money ... you can stand on the left side cliff and get good shots. WARNING: nude beach below as my daughter was shocked due to having to land on Black Beach when the winds died down during the glide. Not their fault but was unfortunate for her.

Was looking for something to do while in La Jolla and this came highly recommended. Upon arrival, the staff was super helpful and friendly as was the pilot that I flew with. If youre in La Jolla I would highly recommend doing this as its very exhilarating to run off a cliff, but once youre in the air its very serene to look down at the beach, cliffs etc

Free parking is sparce but there is plenty of paid parking. Its a beautiful area to hike with views of the beach, cliffs, ocean, and paragliders. I hiked the entire area, its about 6.5 miles from the parking lot, up the hill, through each loops and lookouts and back. There are restrooms and water fountains at the top. Bring water and sunscreen.

Well actually I took my son down to Blacks Beach, and let me tell you that the experience was nothing like the one I had as a kid. Its well known that the weirdos are always there walking way to close in order to make sure you didnt miss seeing their packages. But today I saw a note worthy ratio of females as well! Thats all I have to say for now

This is a great place to watch the sunset. If the rough sandy parking lot is not your thing, there is the Bella Vista cafe at the Sanford Consortium nearby from which you can watch the sunset as well. There is a nude beach below, a glider port, and some hiking trails. Overall a great place to bring a date, have a picnic, or just come yourself.
