After many months of telling myself to pay this place a visit, I am so glad I finally did today for the first time. It is such a well kept and well maintained hidden gem. I had some lunch with my son at the picnic tables. Afterward we went for a nice walk and sat by the pond. It is truly so peaceful, so relaxing and perfectly shaded with trees. My son, who is 4 years old and hyperactive, even sat down and enjoyed the scenery of the cute turtles and ducks. Will be coming back again very soon ( with a blanket and a book in tow).

A beautiful place to visit, the Nature Center (open at the hours shown) has around a dozen reptiles, 4 chinchillas, plus other animals. Outside (open 7 days a week dawn to dusk) has a nice little lake filled with ducks, geese, and other waterfowl. The surrounding hills have many trails and a nice stream (at certain times of the year). There are public restrooms available outside the Nature Center.

Great place to go visit! One the few places like it in the surrounding cities. Hours listed on Google maps, however, are not correct. Operational hours for the center itself: Monday - Closed :: Tuesday - Closed :: Wednesday - 12pm-5pm :: Thursday - 12pm-5pm :: Friday - 12pm-5pm :: Saturday - 12pm-5pm :: Sunday - 12pm-5pm. The park is open from dawn to dusk as are the hills nestled against it.

I love the nature center, its like a hidden gem in the city, where you would least expect to find beautiful hills, trees every where and a pond with duck, geese, turtles ect... especially if your looking for a beautiful, quiet place to get away from all the noise, or even just to take the family on a nice evening summer night; Mary vagel nature center is the place to go!

I love this place. A perfect spot for some adventure and exploration. The museum is a hidden gem with friendly helpful staff. Real friendly animals as well such as live chinchillas, snakes, lizards and even a turtle =o)

The beautiful scenery along with subtle and not so subtle wild life makes this a great area to relax and take a stroll. Along the back are some small mountains anyone may hike along as well.
