For a reason unknown to me, my husband has always wanted to drive through a redwood (we all have our own bucket list, folks). We were there early- 8:30am- and no one was manning the gate but theres a honor system box to leave your $5 and we did, mostly because the sign says, "We trust you!" and I didnt want to ruin it for everyone. We had a rental Chevy Traverse and if we would have had anything larger, we wouldnt have made it through the tree. Theres a steep uphill and sharp turn approaching the tree that you are warned about. Dont do this in a dually pickup or RV! Yes, its a tourist trap but they dont rip you off. There was no one around when we were there so we had lots of time to take pictures and walk inside the tree (pretty neat). Its a drive through tree, friends. Thats it. If youre expecting balloons and fireworks and a giant gift shop and public bathrooms, go down the street to the real tourist trap, Trees of Mystery.

This was the only tree (out of all 3) that our Escalade was able to drive through!!!! Drive up to the tree was a little steep but fine. Not much to see or do after but it was fun and exciting finally able to fit through a tree. Across the street from the tree is a house with friendly emus for viewing that come up to you when you get close to the fence. The kiddos really enjoyed feeding them grass!

Everything was closed when we stopped, but we put our five dollars in the box and drove up the steep, winding hill to see the tree. Our F350 would not fit through, but while we were there we did see several mid-sized SUVs drive through the tree. It was pretty cool. There are also emus across the road and an interesting bathroom to try out. When open, there is a gift shop.

I have walked thru the tree 3 times in the 2years I have lived in Klamath. Every time, without fail, the owner lady drives down to ask if I have paid, she is very distrustful and unfriendly. She makes it feel not fun. I will never go back, unless it changes owners.

There is this big tree but it stands as a magnificent witness to many hundred years of human life. Its not like kings canyon national park where you can see many trees but this one tree is special because its still alive in spite of the giant hole at the bottom.

This experience was so sad we couldnt stop laughing. It was worth the $3 (motorcycle fee) each just for the build up and punch line. The thing is tiny! I couldnt imagine anyone fitting a real car through there. We had a good time. A++, would giggle again.

This place is one of 3 only drive thru trees in the world, definetly definitely recommend. Ohh and by the way there are no signs to for this place because the government doesnt want you going to look it up to see the location. Great experience and only $5

How often do you get to drive thru a tree? Of the three that are available, this is your best chance due to the extra notch on the top of the tree. If no one is at the entrance, you pay via the honor system. I love that. Scratch this off the bucket list.

Likely a popular tourist attraction the actual tree wasnt much to behold. Luckily our car could fit but many people with anything larger than a compact mah have an issue. When in the area its still worth going to see, once.

Although its a tourist-trap roadside attraction, for $5 its not outrageous, and is really something that should be done at least once in a persons life. It makes for really cool pictures and is a unique experience.

Sometimes you get lucky and dont have to pay to enter. The tree is mysteriously still living though a huge hole is cut through its bark. Please dont spend too much time taking pictures when there is a line.

Wow - amazing pit stop for the sights alone, but the gift shop and friendly employee make it even better. Great bargain price, too. Glad we picked this one of the three drive-thru trees in the Redwoods.

Its worth the $6 fee for the short drive up a short hill to drive through the rather large tree. Its a tight fit so fold in your side view mirrors and go slow.

Neat experience. The opening is large enough that I drove a full size pickup thru although I did fold the mirrors in to do it. Well worth doing once.

Essential (though kitschy) redwoods experience - drive through a tree. This one has big enough a clearance for a minivan. And the tree is still growing.

Quick detour as you drive the coast. You can get a photo and be on your way in under 10 minutes. Be prepared to fold in your mirrors to drive though.

Its something one must do in the redwoods, even if it isnt that great! The outhouse constructed of a 6 diameter trunk is pretty impressive though.

Not something you get to do everyday, if ever. The woman at the toll booth was very nice. Tight fit, but the great pumpkin made it through.

You had time to stop and take pictures. I went early in the morning so we were the only ones there! We had lots of time at around 7ish AM

One of the famous historical landmarks. It is real. No problem for a sedan to drive through. The tree is still alive. Worth of visiting.

Another roadside attraction to be sure, but also a quintessential redwoods experience. The file who run the place are folksy and kind.

Great Experience. Pretty amazing to be driving the van through that opening. Did have to push the side view mirrors in a little!

Carved hollow tree, kids would surely enjoy it and appreciate how enormously huge the Redwood trees can grow!

Not sure why theyd make a hole in the tree but not an everyday sight. Interesting humongous old tree!

Apparently there are three such "drive through" trees. I think any one of them would be sufficient.
