My husband and I visited around 3 p.m. on a Wednesday and the atmosphere was very pleasant. There was live music of a man singing and playing guitar, a center koi pond and water fountain, trees with twinkle lights, lots of chirping birdies. It was busy, but there were still a handful of empty tables. We sat next to the stage and a couple servers glanced at us, but never came over. After waiting 20 minutes, we moved to another table closer to the servers and looked at menus that were sitting there. Food selection was small but interesting, but also pricier than I liked. We waited another 10 minutes and then someone brought us a couple waters and then took off. After 5 more minutes, we got tired of it and just left. We walked to El Charro Cafe and were served right away. Perhaps I’ll visit La Cocina another time and see if there is any difference.

Really sh!tty service most of the employees there are very rude. The courtyard is beautiful if you wanna just sit there until someone decides to help you. After waiting for a while some old lady working there just walked by and flung some menus in front of and just walked away. My mother was even startled cuz she didnt even notice her. I found it very disrespectful so we got up and left. You can tell its a place for stuck up hipsters. If you are into seafood I would definetly recomment Mariscos Chihuahua on speedway blvd and grande ave. They attended us right away and were very respectful. They have good drinks and good food and also won the award for Trip Advisor as soon as you walk in you can tell people from all over visit there.

Over priced white people food. Im from Denver came to town drove around for an hour trying to find a simple smothered burrito. I read the reviews everyone was raving about so I gave it a try. Poor excuse.I paid 25 for a smothered burrito and tacos. And all I got was a burrito with veggies in it with a spoon of green Chile sauce and another valetina mix sauce. NOT smothered at all. And the tacos corn torts werent even cooked and only 2 with salad .. Helllllloooo!!!!. And my stomach was upset all day. Over priced!!! And the bartender needs to clean the wax out of his ear!... The place is neat and relaxing outside.

Oh man, this was a fantastic meal. I must say, places with "Southwestern" ambiance usually spend more on decorations than the food itself. Too often these tourist traps lure in travelers with Earth tone and native American art, but serve what tastes to be reheated canned food. Not so with La Cocina. The food was... FANTASTIC. I got a seasonal green Hatch chile stew, which was simply one of the best South Western type dishes Ive ever had. It was rich, slightly spicy, and the chicken perfectly tender. Sure La Cocina has a great atmosphere, but its the food, not the decorations, that will bring me back.

great food, drink and entertainment... the Lemongrass Coconut Curry with tofu was delicious - I was tempted to lick the plate clean. The margaritas were Tucson tasty. Oscar Fuentes played his original music and nicely covered songs by the Rolling Stones, Men At Work and others. At first I wondered if it was the tequila that made him sound so good but I listened to his CD and indeed his guitar picking and dictation is clear and melodious. Thanks for a great Valentines Day dinner.

The atmosphere of this place is great. Nothing else good to say about anything else. Our waiter left us waiting forever to order, neglected to bring an appetizer we had ordered and food service was slow. Our appetizer was brought after we had all gotten food and was still on our bill. The burger I ordered was overdone and dry. No one had anything remarkable to say about their food either. I would recommend trying someplace else the next time you are looking for a meal in Tucson.

I give it four stars for the margaritas and the atmosphere. Eating the courtyard near the frog and fish-filled pond under an enormous tree was very nice. (The margaritas, BTW, were the best ones I had in Tucson.) The food was disappointing - I had the chicken chimi, and I should have gone with pot roast. The chips and guacamole were fine, though my wife returned on a different visit and said they were not as good. So I recommend going for drinks and the ambiance.

My hubby and I had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant on a Saturday night while on vacation in Tucson. The atmosphere was enchanting. We sat at a table in the courtyard next to the pond and watched the turtles and koi fish while listening to a solo musician on a guitar. The food was AMAZING! I wish we had discovered it the first night we were there because we would have been back every night to try a new dish.

My friend and I had a chance to try La Cocina again, after being turned away for dinner (apparently, they have certain hours for serving food). I had the Presidio Reuben with the Polenta Fries, which were delicious! The courtyard creates a nice relaxing atmosphere. The live music and friendly staff made our visit enjoyable. Reason for 4 stars: Lacking extended dining hours and no dessert menu.

I love this place! I brought a friend here for food and she wanted to return the next night. Fun, funky atmosphere, and the food hasnt disappointed. The only complaint is that sometimes the service can take longer than expected-- they were busy, once was lunch and once was wedding party prep. But staff was friendly and cheerful all the same. This place always feels like home to me.

The fish tacos were ridiculously good, as was the eggplant lasagna that my wife had (although it couldnt touch the tacos!) Most dishes are around $10 and are well made. I had a nice big margarita that was well worth the price. Overall this is a really fun place to relax for a meal and drinks with the music in the background which is not so loud that you cant talk!

Surprisingly Broad menu, genuinely atmospheric, great staff, good and well priced food. The most important thing?: The owner (Jo) is there all the time, talking with customers, taking orders, leading her team. With 34yrs of catering experience behind her - she knows how to motivate her team to excellent service and good humored banter!

Was discriminated I took my mother and 6yr old daughter to have breakfast. we were the second people there we ordered 1 coffee and 2 cups of water and ordered our food mean while other people arrived. We waited over 35 minutes and still no food while everyone after us received their food and even paid. I left $2 for the coffee and left

This was a wonderful excursion from the Mexican fare that we have had since arriving in Tucson for vacation. A neat little spot with great atmosphere and a lovely owner who really cares about her clients. My wife and I totally recommend this as a must stop in while in Tucson. Or in the words of my wife "The atmosphere rocks! 5 stars."

I did not enjoy the food or dining experience. I opened the pork chimichanga, I couldnt even take the pork is was so bland and in seasoned its like it wasnt even there. I also ordered fries with cheese and bacon. The bacon was so dried it was like a cracker, the seemed to be the microwave bacon you get at a grocery store.
